About NIT Uttarakhand
Na�onal Ins�tute of Technology U�arakhand is amongstthe new emerging NITs, located in the hilly terrain ofSrinagar Garhwal on the bank of Alaknanda river.NIT U�arakhand was established in 2009 under theAct of Parliament of India by the Ministry of HumanResource Development and designated with the statusof “Ins�tute of Natonal Importance”. The temporarycampus of NIT U�arakhand is func�onal from twocampuses i.e. Polytechnic and ITI. The Ins�tute hasmade a rapid growth in the recent past in terms ofstar�ng new academic programs, revision of academiccurriculum, development of laboratories andinfrastructure.
About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at theNa�onal Ins�tute of Technology, U�arakhand wasestablished in 2012. The Department offers a four-year B.Tech program, M.Tech program in ManufacturingTechnology and Machine Design. The Departmentalso offers Ph.D program in various specializa�onsof the Mechanical Engineering. The Department hasflexible academic structure with numerous core andelec�ve courses to facilitate the students to opt forthe courses of their interest.
How to reach NIT Uttarakhand The Ins�tute is located at Srinagar Garhwal (Dis�.Pauri Garhwal), which is 105 km from Rishikesh onNa�onal Highway No. 58 leading to Badrinath (193 kmfrom Srinagar). Haridwar, a major Railway Sta�on, is130 km from Srinagar. The nearest airport is JollyGrant, Dehradun which is 125 km away from Srinagar.Taxis are available for Srinagar from Airport. Buses andTaxis are available for Srinagar from Rishikesh/Haridwar.

The workshop on “Emerging Resources andTechnologies for Sustainable Energy” focuses onupcoming most viable renewable energy resourcesand relevant technologies. The outcome of thisworkshop will be to gain informa�on and insightspresented by all keynote speakers that outlinemodern technologies and research trends commi�edfor efficient and op�mum u�liza�on of sustainableresources and its future prospect for mankind.

About the workshop
It is a post conference workshop in associa�on with
“Third Interna�onal Conference on Sustainable
Energy and Environmental Challenges” to be held at
IIT Roorkee from 18-21 December 2018. The workshop
will be organized by the Department of Mechanical
Engineering, NIT U�arakhand at Srinagar (Garhwal).
Eminent speakers of the conference would be invited
to deliver talk in addi�on to other renowned experts.
Detailed Aspects of the workshop
Energy produc�on from fossil fuels such as coal, oil,
natural gas is being done for several decades. However,
consequences of unrestrained exploita�on of fossil
energy are appearing in the form of climate change,
health hazardous and serious environmental problems
across the globe. Moreover, it is also known that these
energy sources are no more sustainable. In view of
the above facts, numerous research and development
have been undertaken to explore alterna�ve and
sustainable energy resources. Certainly, various
renewable sources such as, solar, wind, biomass,
geothermal, ocean energy etc. have been extensively
focused on commercial and social u�liza�on to some
extent. This transi�on from fossil fuel based energy to
renewable energy is certainly a major challenge of the
current century. In view of this, present workshop will
