ABOUT THE FDP Cultural heritage resources are increasingly being recognized as critical for development planning. In context, this program aims to sensitize the academic, research and professional fraternity about intricacies involved in addressing issues of cultural heritage and its potential in developing culturally-responsive built environment. The program intends to embed the subject in an Indian perspective for a more focused context, thus enhancing relevance for the participants. The program reflects on cultural heritage expansively and focuses more on the linkage between built heritage and urban development processes. The urban planning process recognizes relevance of heritage, and in response architectural conservation is increasingly included in government promoted urban development schemes. HRIDAY, SMART cities, PRASADA, AMRUT recognize the potential of heritage for urban development programs, which will be covered in the program for sensitization of the participants. One of the desired outcomes is cogitation towards the imperative to include cultural heritage in pedagogical narrative.
