History Falconry is an integral part of desert life which has
been practiced in the UAE for centuries. Originally, falcons were
used for hunting, to supplement the Bedouin diet with some meat.
They also have used falcons for hunting game and sporting
activities. However, their numbers in the wild have declined in
recent years, as a result from over trapping.

Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH)
is providing veterinary health care services exclusively for
falcons. Launched on 3 rd October 1999, ADFH has become the largest
falcon hospital in the UAE and in the world with more than 75,000
patients in the first 14 years of existence. It is directed by
German veterinary Dr Margit Gabriele Mller.

Tourist attraction Since 2007, visitors can follow the Falcon
World Tour.

What can we visit? A guided tour of ADFH offers: a visit to the
falconry museum, where the historical relationship between falcons
and the Middle East is explored. a visit to the examination room,
where feather repairs, pedicures and other activities are
conducted. a visit to a large free-flight aviary, where birds are
kept, and can have their photos taken with a falcon on their arm in
the hospital garden. a buffet lunch, served in a traditional Arabic
tent.
