The repeatability of the new MultiTek LLS system has been thoroughly tested in a refinery lab in the UK by analyzing a diesel sample (with 6 ppm sulphur) in 60 consecutive injections. An

information how these components are distributed in the samples are reported, using the high resolution power from Gas Chromatography. These fully automated analyzers offer Excellent Sensitivity and Selectivity using improved NCD and SCD detectors. They are robust and stable, have a broad concentration range, and deliver fast analysis results. The CNS Simdis™ Simulated Distillation Analyzer is a complete, turnkey system that’s completely assembled with all necessary connections and columns. The AC Simdis software includes automated checks for equimolarity, sensitivity, and stability for easy performance monitoring of the system.

The CNS Simdis™ analyzers are the only instruments on the market that combine boiling point distribution testing for hydrocarbon, nitrogen, and sulfur all in one. The two CNS Simdis™ systems currently released are based on the well‑known Simdis methods ISO 3924, IP406 and ASTM D2887 for samples with final boiling point up to 538°C (1000°F. For samples ranging from 100°C (212°F) to 735°C (1355°F), the HighTemp CNS Simdis application based on EN15199‑1, DIN51.435, IP480 and ASTM D6352/D7500 is available.

Each SIMDIS analyzer is ready to go, cali‑brated, tested to certified calibration blends, fine‑tuned and delivered to the customer’s facility in ‘plug and play’ condition. A quali‑fied and dedicated Service Engineer will visit at the customer’s convenience after delivery to perform installation and training, so that the customer can begin getting the most benefit out of their SIMDIS right away. Plus, PAC’s solid guarantee covers all parts and analytical performance during the first year.

PAC announces the shipment of their 1,000th OptiDist™, a truly revolutionary automated distillation analyzer for the refining and petrochemical industries. OptiDist™ offers the highest level of precision and ease of use ever seen in an instrument of this type. It’s a state‑of‑the‑art optimalsolution for performingatmospheric distillation, fea‑turing easy to use, one button operation, and unparalleled versatility. Its minimal foot‑print saves valuable lab space, installation is easy, and the OptiDist™ offers a very low cost of ownership.

Although the OptiDist was introduced to the market as recently as 2007, its popularity among users, due to its features, perfor‑mance, and value, has made it a PAC ‘best‑seller’, according to Eef Klok, Vice President of Laboratory. “The OptiDist™ provides a unique, state‑of‑the‑art fully automated D86 Distillation Analyzer for our customers” Klok adds. “OptiDist is a patented optimizer and volume measuring system for fully automated distillation control that guarantees highest precision results, and is ideal for new fuels including ethanol blends and biodiesel blends.”

Vincent Otten is PAC’s Product Manager for Chromatography applications; he’s based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Vincent began working for AC Analyti‑cal Controls, now part of the PAC family, back in 1998.

“Being a PAC Product Manager means I wear a lot of hats” Otten says. “I have worldwide responsibility for the AC product line and all chromatography products. But more importantly, my job is to define what our customers want, and work with engineering to develop solutions for them. It’s my responsibility to maintain good communications with our customers and be aware of their ever‑changing and developing needs. That helps keep PAC technology on the cutting edge of chromatography solutions for the industries we serve.”

Vincent adds that his responsibilities don’t end with the development of a new analyzer; he’s also responsible for training PAC people before the new product is even released to the market. “Once a new product is developed, we train everyone in the use and application of that new product, including service, sales support, and everyone involved, before it is introduced to the marketplace. We also train the trainers, the people who will work closely with the customers.” Vincent’s involvement also includes pricing and marketing. It’s the multi‑faceted nature of his job that he enjoys most, the constant changing challenges and opportunities.

AC Analytical Controls by PAC has pioneered several dedicated instruments including the Reformulyzer™ which incorporates multiple international standard (ASTM, EN, ISO) test methods, the AC8612 and the AC8634 with the core adapted in the widely‑known ASTM D2887 method, the High Temp Simdis, and the DHA–Simdis Crude Oil merge principles.

Insider Highlight:Meet Vincent Otten,PAC’s Product Managerfor ChromatographyThe new Radian

UltraFast CG™ from AC Analytical Controls by PAC is an incredibly fast solution to obtaining precise GasChromatography (GC) type analysis, Up to 20 X times faster than conventional gas chromatography. It can provide extremely fast results because the Radian utilizesMicrowave energy instead of convection oven resistive heating, the heat transfer method typically used in most GC applications.

Conventional ovens take time to heat up as well as to cool down. Radian UltraFast CG™ takes arevolutionary new approach; it uses rapid‑heating microwave radiation instead for fast ramp‑to‑temperature and faster cool‑down. This results in up to 20X time savings, faster retention times, and reproducible operating parameters.

The Radian features a solid‑state microwave power system, the choice between several different cooling systems to reduce overall injection‑to‑injection (cycle) time, and the ability to lower the starting column temperature to sub‑ambient values. ElectronicPneumatic Control (EPC) is available for all inlets and detectors. Specific inlet or detector modules are optimized for control range and resolution.

• Heating rates from 1° up to 350°C/ min• Cools down in seconds• Operates with standard detectors• Flexible to handle different types of applications• Stable fast retention times• Compliant with D7096, D2887 and ASTM D7213 simulated distillation methods

AC Analytical Controls’ Radian UltraFast GC™ has been extensively tested under ultrafast conditions on simulated distillation methods ASTM D7096, D3710, D2887 and D7213. New applications are being worked on every day to leverage the fast advantage of Microwave Technology. The Radian UltraFast GC™ can operate in multiple markets performing a wide variety of applications.
