Class Schedule: Marquette students attend courses on a hybrid block schedule. This unique schedule is a combination of standard (49 minute) periods and block (98 minute) periods. A half credit is earned per semester for each class period. Students are enrolled in seven class periods. Advanced Placement: Marquette offers 27 courses through the College Board Advanced Placement program. Students may begin taking AP courses in their sophomore year. There is no restriction as to the number of AP courses students are allowed to take; however, there are prerequisites for many that must be met before enrolling in the course. AP courses and exams offered at Marquette are listed below: Advanced Credit: Certain courses offered may be taken for college credit. College credit is awarded through the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Dual Enrollment: Approved students may take courses not available at Marquette at local colleges and universities during the regular school day. These courses will not typically appear on the high school transcript since they will not usually apply toward the students’ graduation requirements. Honors and Accelerated Classes: Certain courses are offered with honors or acceleration. Grade Point Calculation: GPA is based on grades earned in years 9-12. We do not report class ranking. All courses for which the student receives a grade are included in the GPA. GPA is based on a 4.0 scale with an “A” worth 4 points. For weighted grade courses, an “A” is worth 5 points. We have weighted grades in specified Honors classes, engineering classes, and in all AP classes. Transcripts of students who have transferred into Marquette indicate the names of previous schools attended and the course names used at these schools. Official transcripts of transfer students may also be requested from the previous high school.
