This publication provides a selection of the courses available for school students to attend at TAFE SA campuses.
The list of Accredited Courses contained in this publication may be from either a Training Package [uses a National Code]or an Accredited Curriculum [ uses a TAFE Code]
Training Packages are nationally developed and accredited qualifications which are led by industry . The employers, unions and professional associations of an industry define the outcomes that are required from the training.
Accredited Curriculum are state developed and accredited qualifications. These qualifications are supported by state based industry and have been developed in those areas where a need is not being met by a current Training Package
Achievement in these Accredited Courses contributes not only to the students SACE but may also accredit to further study in qualifications that they may decide to pursue within TAFE SA.
Participating in these Accredited Courses can also be used as a valuable resource for helping students to make an informed decision as to their future study/career pathway.
Accreditation towards students SACE must be negotiated with the school by informing them of the total nominal hours undertaken.

Terms and ConditionsRegistration of Students in a Course• Registration is essential.
• School VET Coordinators should register students directly with the Program Contact listed on the relevant courses’ page.
• Selection Details are detailed on the relevant courses’ page.
• Minimum and maximum numbers for each course may apply - the Program Contact for each course will be able to provide more details.
Delivery and Assessment Methodologies• Delivery and Assessment methodologies differ for each
course.
• Generally, delivery and assessment will involve a combination of attendance, practical and theoretical activities, and home assignments.
• Further information about specific course delivery and assessment can be obtained from the Program
Contact listed on the relevant courses’ page.
Course Outcomes and Pathways• General information about course outcomes and
pathways is included on the relevant courses’ page. Further details can be obtained from the Program Contact listed on the relevant courses’ page.
Results • Results will be issued to students.
• It is the responsibility of the student to inform the school of their final result for the units undertaken.
Fees and Payment of Fees• Fees for each course are listed on the relevant course’s
page.
• Fees are subject to change for 2012.
• Invoices for the full fee amount will be issued to the
student’s school and sent to the School VET Coordinator.
• School VET Coordinators will be required to authorise an “Agreement for Payment of Student Fees” form to confirm enrolment. This form will be sent to the school by the Program Contact upon registration.
• An invoice will not be generated until minimum numbers for the course are confirmed.
• Generally, once the course has commenced there is no refund of course fees. Further details can be obtained from the Program Contact listed on the relevant courses’ page.
Duty of Care • Students who participate in any of these courses
remain under the Duty of Care of the school.
• Where possible, the Program Contact will liaise with the school regarding absentee students.
• For any other specific queries or concerns, liaise with the Program Contact listed on the relevant courses’ page.

Introduction to Working with Dogs (Units from the Certificate II in Racing - Kennel Hand) (RGR20208)This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the animal and greyhound racing industries. With a mixture of theory and practical application, the course content includes: Breeding and rearing puppies, Training the young dog, Handling for trials and race meetings and Fostering after their racing careers. It also includes Occupational Health and Safety in the animal industry and Workplace communication in the animal care context.
Practical activites will include grooming, dog handling, cleaning and feeding. Assessment for the units of competency will include attendance at each day of the course, written assignments, group projects and animal handling.

Other Details: Closed toe shoes, no jewellery to be worn. Comfortable clothing. Hair must be tied back and short nails are required. Gumboots/leather work boots and a complete change of old clothes will be required for large animal sessions. Small personal padlock and key is required for use of onsite lockers.

Introduction to the Retail Meat Industry Units from the Certificate III Meat Processing - (Meat Retailing – MTM30807) This program invites participants to discover the opportunities available in the retail meat industry. Participants will gain skills and knowledge in food safety; communication; basic knife handling, manufacturing mince and mince meat products.

Work Safely in the Construction Industry - National “White Card” (CPCCOHS1001A) All persons who visit or work on a Construction or Work Site must have an Occupational Health & Safety Induction White Card (formerly Green Card).
This course is a 6 hour National Occupational Health & Safety course and includes:

Introduction to Certificate III in Police Studies - Online (PAL) (40602SA)This programme is designed as an introduction to the new Certificate III in Policing Studies (PAL) developed in collaboration with South Australia Police (SAPOL). Students can undertake up to 4 of the 9 components of the Cert III that will introduce them to key concepts that are at the foundation of working in SAPOL.
The unit “Workplace Safety” develops capacity to contribute to workplace safety by identifying hazards and controlling risks within a Policing context (Semester 2).

Introduction to Drawing and Illustration Studio - Semester 2- Units from Certificate IV in Design (CUV40311)Students will acquire skills and knowledge required to research and apply techniques for application to many types of illustrative work. These Illustrations could appear in print publications, on storyboards for screen productions, on promotional banners or online. At this level, research, experimentation and ongoing refinement are required to produce a range of illustrative work. A student would begin the process of finding an individual style and developing a full repertorie of professional skills. They could be employed in graphic design studios, architectural practices, book and magazine publishers or the media. Illustrators frequently offer their services on a freelance basis from a home-based business.
