Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement th at the Justice Department had decided not to prosecute "because the admissibl e evidence would not be sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction beyon d a reasonable doubt."

(OSINFO) Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has ordered three systems worth about US$1 million that will automatically spread information on the Internet. The systems were ordered in a three separate tenders and the official client’s name is Military Unit 54939, but Kommersant Daily newspaper, which broke the news, writes that according to its sources this military unit belongs to the Foreign Intelligence Service’s structure.

The first system is called Dispute and is responsib le for overall monitoring of the blogosphere and social networks in order to single out the centers where the information is created and the ways by wh ich it is spread among the virtual society. It also looks at factors that affe ct the popularity of various reports among internet users. The second system, Monitor-3, will develop the meth ods of organization and management of a “virtual community of attracted exp erts” – setting of tasks, control over work and regular reports on chosen iss ues.


The third, and probably most important, of the syst ems is Storm-12 – its task is to automatically spread the necessary informatio n through the blogosphere, as well as “information support of operations with pre-prepared scenarios of influence on mass audience in social networks.”

(mz-web) Am 5. September vor 40 Jahren erschossen palästinensische Terroristen elf israelische Olympioniken. Moti Kfir, der damalige Chef der Mossad-Abteilung für Spezialeinsätze, erzählt, warum der Rachefeldzug für "München 1972" seinem Geheimdienst Ruhm und Schmach zugleich einbrachte.

Juristisch sind die Morde bis heute nicht aufgearbe itet: Elf israelische Olympia-Teilnehmer und ein deutscher Polizist starb en, als am 5. September 1972 in München Terroristen aus dem Umfeld der Palä stinensischen Befreiungsorganisation PLO Geiseln nahmen, um Häftl inge in Israel freizupressen. Bis heute wurden die Täter nie angek lagt, auch in Deutschland nicht. Doch Israel setzte seinen Geheimdienst auf die Vera ntwortlichen an. Der Mossad bekannte sich nie offiziell zu der Menschenj agd, die für ein Dutzend Terroristen tödlich endete. Jetzt hat Moti Kfir, Ex -Leiter der Mossad-Abteilung für "Special Operations", ein Buch über d en Rachefeldzug geschrieben. Im Mittelpunkt steht aber eine Frau, d ie er selbst für den Job rekrutierte. Das Gespräch führte Steven Geyer. Herr Kfir, nach allem, was heute bekannt ist: Hätte die Geiselnahme von München verhindert werden können?


Kfir: Ich bedaure zumindest, wie die deutschen Behö rden agierten. Aus bislang unveröffentlichten Akten erfuhren wir jetzt von dem Psychologen, der den Sicherheitsstab beriet und genau davor gewarnt hatt e. Aber die Polizei ignorierte ihn. Auch, weil die deutschen Geheimdien ste nichts lieferten, was die Warnung stützte. Dabei hatten sie von ausländis chen Diensten etliche konkrete Hinweise bekommen. Laut den Unterlagen von Sonderkommission, Staatsanw altschaft und Geheimdiensten baten die Deutschen Israel um Hilfe in München. Israel soll sich geweigert haben. Kfir: Nein, das ist absolut falsch. Ich kenne Akten , die belegen, dass Mossad-Chef Tzwi Zamir persönlich nach München flog . Die Deutschen weigerten sich, ihn einzubinden. Die Affäre wurde zur schwere n Belastung der deutsch-israelischen Beziehungen. (b) “In worldwide arms transfer agreements in 2011 — to both developed and developing nations — the United States dominated, r anking first with $66.3 billion in such agreements or 77.7% of all such agr eements. This is the highest single year agreements total in the history of the U.S. arms export program,” the CRS report said. “Russia ranked secon d in worldwide arms transfer agreements in 2011with $4.8 billion in suc h global agreements or 5.6%. (nationalpost) Literary criticism, as a rule, does not sell. Spy novels, as a rule, do. In Sweet Tooth, Ia n McEwan writes the former as the latter, and it work s terrifically well. The spy and the critic are both Serena Frome, a Cambridge-educated mathematician who had desperatel y wanted to study literature and, in a roundabout way , finally gets her chance to do so. Frome works for M I5, that section of the British secret service tasked w ith the homefront, and Operation Sweet Tooth is their p lan to fund emerging writers with strong anti-Soviet views. (It’s strongly based on the CIA’s infamous involvement with Encounter magazine, as the charact ers acknowledge.)

Her mark, Tom Haley, is one of those writers, they think. But is he really? She’s handed a dossier of short stories and sets to work. The Story: Serena Frome, the beautiful daughter of an Anglican bishop, has a brief affair with an older man during her final yea r at Cambridge, and finds herself being groomed for the intelligence services . The year is 1972. Britain, confronting economic disaster, is being to rn apart by industrial


unrest and terrorism and faces its fifth state of e mergency. The Cold War has entered a moribund phase, but the fight goes on, es pecially in the cultural sphere. Serena, a compulsive reader of novels, is s ent on a 'secret mission' which brings her into the literary world of Tom Hal ey, a promising young writer. First she loves his stories, then she begin s to love the man. Can she maintain the fiction of her undercover life? And wh o is inventing whom? To answer these questions, Serena must abandon the fir st rule of espionage - trust no one. (dailymail) A former Welsh police inspector became a double agent pretending to work for Hitler while feeding vital information to MI5. Gwilym Williams from Swansea was sent to Belgium in 1939, to infiltrate the Abwehr, Hitler’s spy service. He constructed a fake persona as a fanatical Welsh nationalist and was so convincing that he managed to uncover a series of secrets.He informed the M15 about a plot to land a German U-boat on a South Wales beach, a scheme to steal a Spitfire. He even intercepted a plan to pour poison into the Cray Reservoir near Brecon, which would have caused havoc if it had been successful. Mr Williams died aged 62 in 1949, but his story was only recently discovered after an author res earching a book learned of his story in declassified securit y

In the book “No Easy Day,” the author, using the pen name “Mark Owen,” divulges information Navy SEALs used during the raid, which Pentagon officials said may contain classified information, putting military members at risk in future operations. “The letter … is intended to put on record our very serious concerns about what we believe was a material breach of [a] non-disclosure agreement with the Department of Defense,” Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said. “We take these agreements and we take our obligation to protect classified information very seriously.”
