Project Spotlight IDEA EWING HALSELL

IDEA Ewing Halsell is the 5th IDEA School that we have built and the 2nd with D. Wilson Construction. IDEA Ewing is also 30% larger than any other IDEA School in the San Antonio Area. IDEA Ewing along with IDEA Najim was the 1st of the IDEA Schools to implement the new 2015 IECC lighting standards that are now being enforced by the City of San Antonio. All the hard work that went into IDEA Ewing resulted in D. Wilson’s making recommendations to the Owners that they use Masters Electrical for IDEA Mays Phase II which commenced work this past Monday.

We would like to thank Roberto Fraire Sr. for his professionalism and hard work and all Masters Team Members that have and will work on this project. Please realize the history involved in the project and take pride in your part of it. We also want to thank D. Wilson Construction and there team members, for giving Masters Electrical Services LTD. the opportunity to work on this project.

Safety News Keeping eye protection effective

Introductory comment – Eye protection needs to be maintained to remain effective. This session will show you six ways to make sure eye protection will save your eyes when you need it.

Meeting Starter Questions – What eye protection devices do you use on the job, and how do you maintain then properly? When did you last check the condition of your protection devices? Have you ever suffered or witnessed an accident and injury resulting from poorly maintained eye protection?

Critical Safety Points – Although protective eyewear is designed to guard against such accidental injuries as impacts from sharp objects, it will not withstand repeated impacts indefinitely from sharp objects, it will not withstand repeated impacts indefinitely. To keep these devices in working condition, remember to:

• Inspect them regularly for scratches, cracks or other wear and replace them if they are scratches, bent or uncomfortable. Scratches can weaken the lenses and reduce their resistance to impact.

• Replace glasses when lenses are scratched, broken, bent or you cannot see through them easily for any reason. Obstructed vision can open up a whole new array of potential accidents and injuries. Try to see around a scratch or crack in a safety glass lens is often listen as a major cause of machine and vehicle operation accidents and injuries. Eyewear can protect your eye but you need unobstructed vision to protect your entire body.

• Clean lenses after every use with soap or mild detergent and water or with special solution designed for that purpose. Never use abrasive soaps, rough paper or cloth towels. These will scratch and damage your equipment, avoid any rough handling.

• Store your eye protection equipment in a clean, dry place where it cannot fall or be stepped on. Keep it in the case when you’re not wearing.

• Disinfect eyewear if it’s contaminated by a hazardous substance or if it’s been worn by someone else.

• Replace knotted, twisted worn or stretched goggle straps. You won’t get the all-round protection goggles are designed to provide if they don’t fit properly and snugly.
