The ACTIVE CLUTCH LINEis comprised of DC operatedsingle-disc clutches withoutslip ring, characterised bythe fact that the dynamiceffect of an electromagneticfield is used for torque trans-mission (electromagneticallyengaged clutches). ACTIVECLUTCH LINE productsensure reliable clutch relea-se with zero residual torquein any mounting position andzero backlash during torquetransmission. These clutchesrequire little if any mainten-ance throughout their servicespan.The achievable switchingpower depends on the clutchversion employed.

The information provided in theoperating instructions must bestrictly adheared to whendesigning a machine(e.g. motor) and when usingthe brakes. The clutches aremanufactured and tested incompliance with DIN VDE 0580requirements. The insulationmaterials used conform withthermal class F norms. Staticoperation of the clutch withoutfriction work is only permittedafter prior consultation with themanufacturer. The specifiedtimes apply to the followingconditions: seperate switchingof the brake, operatingtemperature, rated voltage, and
rated air gap. All values aremean values that are subject tovariation. In the case of ACclutch switching, the couplingtime t1 is substantially longer.Wmax (maximum switchingenergy) is the switching energythat must not be exceededduring clutch operations atmax. 1000 rpm. Clutchoperations at >1000 rpm leadto a substantial reduction in themaximum admissible switchingenergy per switching operation.Such operations are onlypermitted after prior consultation with the manu-facturer. The maximumswitching power Pmax is the
switching energy W that can beconverted by the clutch perhour. In the case of applica-tions where the number ofswitching operations per houris greater than 1 (Z>1), thediagram (Wmax as a function ofthe number of switchingoperations per hour Z) shownin the operating instructionsapplies. The Pmax and Wmaxvalues are approximate values.The specified rated torques M2characterise the torque level ofthe clutches. Depending on theapplication of the clutch, theswitching torque M1 and thetransmissible torque M4 maydiffer from the specified M2
values. The switching torqueM1 depends on the speed(rpm). If the friction surfacesare contaminated with oil,grease or dirt the transferabletorque M4 and the switchingtorque M1 may drop.
All technical data is subject tothe running-in process of thebrake being completed.
Upon request, the clutch can be supplied with variablearmature systems (shaft coupling).
