islands such as Maafushi, most guest opt to visit a

nearby resort for such requirements.

SNORKELLING

The coral reefs in Maldives are inhabited by

diverse marine life and are teeming with colour-

ful fish.

Snorkelling is the easiest way to enjoy the beau-

ty found beyond the lagoon.

Reef snorkelling takes place directly from the

boat and is therefore suitable for stronger swim-

mers. If you are new to snorkeling we suggest

you begin it on the house reef in Maafushi Is-

SANDBANK TRIPS (FURAFATHI)

Furafathi or commonly known as Sexy

Beach is a deserted sandbank near Maafu-

shi Island.

A not-to-be-missed activity, Furafathi is a

unique dream come true experience.

With nothing but a few birds it sight, you are

left on your own to enjoy the amazing wa-

ters surrounding the sandbank.

PICNIC ISLAND (MAADHOOFINOLHU)

This uninhabited Picnic Island is approximately

1 km long and 150 meters wide with a picture

perfect sand bar. Maadhoo has pleasant walk-

ing tracks and is well-vegetated. The white

sandy beaches are idyllic, with a beautiful

lagoon for a swim in the crystal clear water.

This is exactly what happens on a Night fishing trip. The Maldives is unique in that its history depends on tuna fishing, and the local Maldivi-ans are excellent fishermen, using pole and sinker.

BODU BERU (TRADITIONAL MUSIC)

Bodu Beru is one of the most popular forms of folk music

and dance that is found in the inhabited islands of Mal-

dives. People of all age groups participate enthusiastically

in Bodu Beru folk music. The musical instruments that are

used consist of three or four drums made from hollowed

coconut wood and a variety of thumping instruments.

MANTA RAY POINT

Manta rays can be found throughout tropical

waters across the world where they often

congregate around coral reefs. The Mal-

dives is a particularly good destination for

people wishing to see Manta Rays while

scuba diving or snorkeling. It is estimated

that there are around 10,000 Manta Rays

living in the Maldives. The manta rays live in

the Maldives year-round, migrating from one

part of the atolls to another depending on the

season.

WHALE SHARK POINT

the largest fish in the world, can reach up to

a massive 12 meters in length, and are com-

mon in the Maldives. Historically, they were

only to be found in the Maldives during the

southwest monsoon season, but now, due to

several changes in the environment including

higher water temperatures and increased

levels of plankton, whale sharks can be

found swimming around the Maldives and in

particular, the Ari and Baa Atolls throughout

the year.

The great thing about whale sharks is you don’t have to be a certified scuba diver to enjoy a

whale shark encounter.
