Got to Know Me

Im protein. I made up of the C, H, O, N, S and P. I made up 15% of the protoplasm. I

am one of the important organic compounds in the cell. Organisms need me to build newcells for their growth. Organisms also need me when they have an injury. This is because

I can renew the damage tissue like cut and wound. I also am required to synthesis some

materials like enzymes, hormones and amino acids. Without me, human is not complete.They will have no skins, bones and tissue muscles. This is due to only I can form the

structural component such as keratin for skin, collagen for bones and myosin for muscle

tissue.

Do You Know Me

Scientist named me as carbohydrates. I contain C, H and O. As carbohydrates, I am the

primary sources of energy in cells. I have 2 forms depends where am I. In plant cell, Iwas known as starch which is the main energy store of carbohydrates. In human and

animal tissues, I exist as glycogen. The function of glycogen is the same with the starch. Ialso exist as cellulose in plant. As cellulose, I form the cell wall of plant cell.

Hello, Im lipid. I made up of C, H and O. Like carbohydrates, I also an important

source of energy. I come from a diverse group. I can be fats, oils, waxes, phospholipids

and steroids. I can be stored as adipose tissue underneath the skin to insulate the bodiesagainst low temperature. Besides, as a fat, I surround the delicate organs and protect them

from physical injuries. I also act as solvent for lipid soluble vitamin like vitamin A, D, Eand K. As phospholipids, I form the main component of plasma membrane whichcontrols the movement of substances across the plasma membrane. Finally, if you know

me as waxes, you will notice that I prevent water loss and infection by pathogen. And

like protein, I made up 15% of protoplasm.

I am nucleic acid. I exist as twin. I am DNA and my brother is RNA. Our buildingblock is nucleotide. We are made up of C, H, O, N & P. our body has 3 part: phosphate

group, pentose sugar and nitrogenous base. I store genetic information in the form of

code. Even though we are twin, we are different. My full name is deoxyribonucleic acid.I am double stranded polynucleotide, twisted around each other to form a double helix. If

you love to travel, you can see me in nucleus, chloroplast and mitochondria. In me, you

can find genetic information of an organism that is passed from parent to the offspring.My brother full name is ribonucleic acid. You can found him in the cytoplasm, ribosome

and nucleus. He is responsible to copy the information carried by me for use in protein

synthesis.
