Town-Hall-Arts-Center-Youth- Theatre-Programs The Further Adventures of Harry Potter Play Production Class – Grades 5-7 Wednesdays, 4-6 pm February 4 – April 22* (Performance Wednesday, April 22 at 6 pm) Tuition: $175 Directed by LuAnn Buckstein We all know of Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts, from the Sorcerer’s Stone to his final quest for the Horcruxes. But is that all there is to tell? We say “No!” Join the Actors’ Playground for new adventures with Harry Potter, his friends, and even his enemies! Do you have a favorite character that didn’t get enough page or screen time? It’s time to rectify that situation! Students will collaborate on this project to write their own Harry Pot- ter tales. This NEW and exciting class will revisit all of your favorite characters as students learn and practice both acting and creative writing skills! What goes into telling a story on stage? Students will find out how plays are made through creating their own Harry Potter stories and presenting them on stage with full lights, sound, and costumes! Artemis Fowl Play Production Class – Grades 5-7 Thursdays, 4-6 pm February 5 – April 23* (Performance Thursday, April 23 at 4 pm) Tuition: $175 Directed by Kelly McAllister Artemis Fowl II is the genius son of an infamous crime lord. Being raised in a crime family, he devotes his life to furthering the criminal enterprises of the foul Fowl Family. Wanting to expand into new and interesting areas of crime, he discovers the secrets of the fairies! With their magic book in hand, he uses his new knowledge to kidnap and blackmail the magical creatures. But don’t expect the magical folk to just give in to his demands! They retaliate in every way they know how. The genius Artemis fights back with brains and technol- ogy. Who will win? Who is actually the good guy? Literally. A Grudge sits next to her on the couch and soon invites his friends, the “Moodketeers” – Peevish, Hothead, and finally the dreaded Doldrum family -- to join them. As she sinks deeper into the doldrums, her friends and family desperately try to come up with ways to get her back to herself. The show concludes in a happy musical ending. Students learn and practice the fundamental techniques of stage acting, public speaking, and improvisation while working on this fun-filled production. Each class begins with theater games and team-building exercises as we work towards our performance. Cinderella Play Production Class – Grades K-3 Tuesdays, 5:00 – 6:00 pm February 3 – April 21* (Final Rehearsal 4-5 p.m. & Performance 5-6 p.m. on April 21) Tuition: $100 Directed by LuAnn Buckstein Who let the mice drive? Join us for this hilarious take on the classic story. We all know the tale of little Ella, forced to do the dirty work so often she became Cinder-Ella! Thanks to her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella scrubs up pretty well, much to the dismay of her wicked Stepmother and terrible Step Sisters! This class is perfect for dramatic students new to theater and also a great way to bring shy kids out of their shells in a fun and non-threatening environment. Students learn and practice the fundamental tech- niques of stage acting, public speaking, and improvisation while working on this fun-filled production. ACTING UP! “He Said / She Said” Workshop for Teens Serious About Theater Theater Workshop for Teens – Grades 6-12 *Saturdays, 9:30 am-12:30 pm January 31st - April 4th Tuition: $250 Directed by Pam Clifton For teens with the desire to take their acting skills to the next level. The ACTING UP! workshop series concentrates on scene and character study, the skills that need to be continually perfected in order to attain roles in professional theatre. The spring series culminates with a full production entitled He Said/ She Said, a hilarious and poignant look into relationships utilizing scenes from Parallel Lives, My Fair Lady and Sylvia, just to name a few. Special Note: Our final performance for family and friends will be performed on the main stage on Tuesday April 7th at 7:00 pm. All actors must be available for a dress rehearsal on Monday, April 6th at 7:00 pm. *Attendance flexibility allowed with advance notice. Introduction to Technical Theater Technical Skills Class – Grades 9-12 Saturdays, 10 am – 1 pm February 14 – May 16* Tuition: $200 Instructor: Mike Haas You asked and we’ve answered! Welcome to our first foray into classes for Technical Theater. Join Town Hall’s Technical Director, Mike Haas, to learn the skills without which no production ever happens. Lend your abilities to create sets, light, and sound to be used in our LIVE Main Stage Productions this season! Class will include instruction on set planning and carpentry (yes, there will be power tools!), light plotting, hang, and focus (on our new catwalks!), sound design, control, and running mics, set painting (plan to get dirty!), and props! Students will get to test their knowledge by assisting in a real production put on by THAC’s Acting Up! Students. *There will be no classes over Spring Break, the week of March 23 –27.
