hivani Wazir Pasrich is a woman of varied talents. As a conservationist, she raises her voice against the alarming decrease in the tiger population through her I Am The Tiger initiative. She is also a celebrated Odissi dancer; theatre personality, revered for her performance in Draupadi—We Are So Different
Now, through which she raised funds to create awareness about safe motherhood; an accomplished compere and TV anchor; and a film actress, best known for her role in Dil To Pagal Hai. “My work integrates with my life,” says Shivani. So when we stepped into her home, it came as no surprise that every photograph and piece of art had a story to tell.
The Big Move“After I got married, we were living in Golf Links. It was perfect as my husband’s office was on the second floor, we lived on the first floor, and my children’s school—The Study (run by mother-in-law Hemant Pasrich)—was on the ground floor,” remarks Shivani. When it was time to move, Shivani and her husband, Delhi-based lawyer Amir Singh Pasrich, chose to occupy their vacant Chhatarpur house, built by her mother-in-law. The only drawback: its interiors still needed a lot of work to make the house liveable. “For the first few months, all my furniture was in the garden. My husband and I had to live in the gatehouse for 14 months!” she exclaims. “If I had to do up my house, I would have done it in six months with whatever I could find. But this house, as it is now, is because of him. I would have happily moved into some place in town. But Amir said no—after living amidst so much greenery, he refused to move into a claustrophobic place.” So they painstakingly and gradually did it up. Everything from the doors to the
