This.brief.report.aims.to.showcase.these.awards,.their.winners.and.all.those.that.were.nominated ..I.want.to.congratulate.all.those.that.were.nominated.this.year.and.thank.students.for.being.involved.in.the.schemes ..It. stands. to. reason. that.we. recognise. the.hard.work. that.academic.and.professional. service.staff.put. into.their.jobs.to.ensure.that.student.experience.at.the.University.of.Central.Lancashire.is.top.quality ..Particular.highlights.this.year.includes.when.family.members.surprised.a.staff.member.being.awarded.a.‘We.heart.U’.by.turning.up.to.the.presentation,.another.example.is.when.alumni.students.returned.to.present.an.award.and.of.course.the.loud.cheers.and.applause.of.students.showing.their.approval.of.the.awards.as.they.were.presented ..With.all.that.in.mind,.and.on.behalf.of.the.Student.Affairs.Committee,.we.would.like.to.say.a.big.thank.you.to.all.those.involved.and.invite.you.to.take.part.again.for.the.next.record.breaking.year.celebrating.success.at.UCLan .

UCLan. and. what. they. described. as. “stressful. times” .. Her. knowledge,..experience.and.personality.were.all.identified.as.supporting.students,.as.well.as.her.ability.to.signpost.students.to.relevant.support.services.when.they.suffered.personal.problems ..It.is.also.noted.she.is.soon.to.leave.the.organisation.and.will.be.missed.dearly.by.the.cohort .

Sue. typifies. exactly. why. the.‘We. Heart. U’. Awards. were. created:. to. recognise. moments. of..individual. acts. of. excellence .. The. nomination. explains. how. a. chance. meeting. with. Sue.when.the.students.Course.Leader.was.out.of.office.prevented.the.student.from.leaving.the..institution ..The.student.had.enrolled.on.a.combined.honours.course.and.wished.to.change.to.a.single.honours.course.but.had.firmly.been.given.the.impression.it.was.probably.too.late.to.do.so ..However.Sue’s.positive.attitude..supported.the.student.through.the.process.and.all..subsequent.paperwork.enabling.the.student.to.remain.at.UCLan.and.in.their.words.“have.a.chance.at.a.career.and.future.doing.something.I.love” .

The We Heart U Award recognises University of Central Lancashire Staff for moments of excellence when a thank you is not enough. Perhaps a student has had a particularly engaging lecture, been supported through a tough period or received excellent customer service… The We Heart You Award is students chance to say thank you! Robin.was.identified.by.students.as.providing.amazing.assignment.support.with.the.use.of.industry.examples.and.case.studies ..His.assignment.feedback. is.described.as.prompt.and.detailed .. Also. recognised. is. his. pastoral. support. with. one. student. particularly. describing.him.as.someone.that.had.a.direct.impact.on.them.staying.on.the.course.and.realising.their.potential .

Yvonne.was.recognised.by.the.panel.for.the.pastoral.support.that.she.provides.to.many.of.her.home.group ..Whether.it.is.supporting.a.student.with.financial.problems;.instilling.con-fidence.in.a.student.who.was.due.to.have.their.second.attempt.at.the.Objective.Structured.Clinical.Examination.and.supporting.a.student. in.managing.their.academic.workload,.her.ability.to.support.students.on.an.individual.basis.was.predominantly.clear .
