Goals
• Restructurestudentadvisingandsupport aroundthemissionofstudentsuccess.Provideacomprehensiveapproachtoacademicadvising,careerdevelopment,andlearningsupportservices;
• Supportandincentivizefacultyengagement inthemissionofstudentsuccess;and
• Improve facilitiesandtechnologyinfrastructure tosupportstudentsuccess,especiallyintermsofcourseplanninganddegreeaudit.
ProposedInitiatives
• Fall2015– UNC’sProvost,ViceChancellorforStudentAffairs,ViceProvostforEnrollmentandUndergraduateAdmissions,andSeniorAssociateDeanforUndergraduateEducationestablishthe BlueSkyCommittee andchallengethegrouptoimagineanentirelynewapproachtostudentadvising,careerdevelopmentandacademicsupport.
• Summer2016- BlueSkyCommitteepresentsdatafindingsandrecommendations.
• Fall2016- ProvostcreatesanewchargetoconsidertheBlueSkyCommittee’srecommendations,scanthecurrentadvisingenvironmentatCarolina,benchmarkbestpracticesatpeerinstitutions*andcreateaplanforimplementation.
