OM Namah Shivay…………

Being a part of the Kailash family, it gives us immense pleasure in announcing the opening of the Adi Kailash and OM Parvat Trekking expedition /Yatra 2018 with w.e.f First week of June 2018 till September 2018. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. (Uttarakhand Tourism) invites the registration application for the holy pilgrimage. The applications will be considered on the first cum first basis and accordingly the short listed yatries will be sent the confirmation letters. The detailed procedure for applying to the Yatra is given below.

Adi Kailash - OM Parvat Yatra/Trekking Expedition 2018

Adi Kailash: (6191 mts.) (Popularly known as Chotta Kailash) is in many ways replica of the better known Mt.

Kailash in Tibet, especially in appearance. Adi-Kailash, however is in Indian Territory close to the Indo-Tibetan border, it is an area of great natural beauty, peace and serenity. Men

and women, tired by the incessant roar of urban life, will find here a healing quietude, conducive to looking inward and discoursing with one’s inner self.

At the very foot of Mt. Kailash is Gauri kund, whose water reflects the mountain itself. Close by is Parvati Sarovar, also called ‘Mansarovar’ but much smaller than the original, on the bark of the sarovar local people have erected a temple to Shiv and parvati.

After the Chinese occupied Tibet from Gunji, Indian Sadhus or pilgrims offered their

prayer here to Lord Shiva, and took their journey to Kutti followed by Jollingkong at an altitude of over 1550 feet to have a darshan of this mountain. When we enter this magical place, for the moment you feel that why the God choose this place for their abode.

OM Parvat: From Gunji the route branches off to Kalapani where the Kali river originates and then on to Nabidhang (3987 m) (Lipupass is only 9 kms ahead). At Nabidhang we can see “Aum Parvat” a miracle of nature, snow lies in the mountain in the shape of a perpetual “Aum” the primordial sound. All other slopes may be bare but this inscription in snow is everlasting and as one observes it, one gets the feeling that the mountain itself is Lord Shiv incarnate- the destroyer, showing himself in a rare glimpse. One can see white (snow) Aum on black background. No hypothesis, no assumption and no imagination are required to visualize “Aum”. The symbol and guide to mediation connecting man, God and the Universe chanted at the beginning and finale of all proceedings, extolled in the Upnishads as the best and most effective symbol of God. During Adi-Kailash, Om Parvat Yatra/Trekking expedition, you will come across the mighty splendor of the snow peaks of Api, Nampha, Tinker and Ganesha parvat massive naming western Nepal’s Himalayan peak, the gushing Kali river, forest, can see the enchanting beauty of Chaudas, Byans and Darma Valley, tradition villages like Gala, Zipti, Budhi, Garbiyang, Napalchu, Gunji, Navi, Rongkong, Kutti, enroute when we go Buddhi to Gunji a place Chiyalekh. covered mountains, beautiful rivers, peaks, which seems to touch the sky green meadows and treacherous glaciers make this area a heaven for those seeking high adrenaline closes.

All over the world, only the Uttarakhand section of the Himalayas have traditionally attracted humanity in search of spiritual awakening since the very beginning of human history on this earth. The local folk called “Shauka” “Rang” Garbyang, Napalchu, Gunji, Nabi, Rong-kong Kutti has much to say about their land. The village Kutti is named after Kunti, the mother of Pandavas. Kunti apparently stayed at this spot for some time. Likewise they claim that the great sage Vyash lived here for a long time and wrote many books. The bhotiyas have preserved their heritage assiduously and are always ready to show glimpses of it through dance and music.

Patal Bhuvneshwar: Enshrined in mystery and mythology, Patal Bhuvneshwar is the hidden pilgrimage centre, near Gangolihat the famous Shaktipeeth. Located 120 kms from Almora on the way to Sheraghat, this highly revered shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The sub-terranean shrine of Lord Shiva is situated with sprawling interiors. Limestone rock formations have created various spectacular stalactite and stalagmite figures. The way to the cave temple is through a long, narrow tunnel. Inside the cave, the limestone formations have aken shape of many Gods and Goddesses of hindu pantheon. The forms of Ganesha, Shesh Nag, Garud, Shivling etc. are distinctly visible to the believers. It’s popularly believed that the holiest cave is the adobe of 33 crore Gods and Goddesses, amidst the absolute Himalayan isolation.

Jageshwar: Jageshwar is the cluster of ancient temples from 8th – 12th century A.D. the

complex consisting of 124 temples and hundreds of statues is not merely famous for its sevaymbhi lingum named “Naagesh” the main temples are dedicated to Maha Mrityunjaya, Mahishashwar Mardani, Kedarnath, Baleshwar, Surya, Navgraha, Mahakali, Navdurga etc. Jageshwar is amongst the 12 Jyotirlings in india and Adi Shankaracharya also medicated here.

Almora: Almora is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalaya range. Almora was founded in 1568 by King Kalyan Chand, however there

are accounts of human settlements in the hills and surrounding region in the Hindu epic Mahabharata (8th and 9th century BCE). Almora was the seat of chand kings that ruled over the Kumaon Kingdom. It is considered the cultural heart of the Kumaon region

of Uttarakhand. Almora is famous for its temples as well some of them are Chitai (Golu devta), Nanda Devi, Katarmal, Jageshwar and Kasar Devi. The great saint Swami Vivekananda is said to have achieved enlightenment in the surroundings of Almora.

Kakrighat: During period of 1890 swami Vivekananda meditated under a Peepal tree at this place during his travel to Himalayas. Swami Vivekanand stayed for a night at

Kakrighat in August 1890. His companion was Swami Akhandanand. They stopped for the night under an old Peepal tree. Where the Kosi river met another mountain river named Suial. This place known as Kakrighat is about 37 km. from Nainital on Nainital-Almora

Moter Road. On reaching Kakrighat Swami Vivekanand said to his companion “this place is charming, what a wonderful spot for meditation”. After bathing in the kosi river the

swami sat under the tree, absorbed in deep meditation for a long time. Later returning to normal consciousness he said to Akhandanand “Oh Gangadhar ! I have just passed through one of the greatest moments of my life. Here under this peepal tree one of the greatest problems of my life has been solved. I have found the oneness of the macrocosm with the microcosm. In the microcosm of the body everything that is there (in the macrocosm) exists. I have seen the whole universe within an atom”. This realization of his seems to be reflected in the lectures. He later on gave in the west under the Title “Cosmos-The Macrocosm and the microcosm.”

Kanchi Dhaam: It is a placed at an altitude of (1400 MT) On the Nainital - Almora Road, 9 Km from Bhowali and 17 Kms from Nainital is a modern pilgrim centre. This place has

achieved recognition owing to the ashram of the famous Shri Neem Karoli Baba Maharajji. Founded by the famous Maharaj Neem Karoli Baba in 1962. The concept of this place came into existence in 1942 when Maharaj Neem Karoli along with Shri Poornanand of the Kainchi Village proposed building an Ashram here dedicated to Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba who used to perform yagnas in this very place. Shri Neem Karoli Baba have followers all over the India as well as in the world in millions, Mark Jukerberg (Founder and CEO of Facebook) and Steve Jobs (Founder and former CEO of Apple) are one of them. Joljibi: Jauljibi is located at the junction of the Kali and Gori Rivers. The rivers separate a town into halves of India and Nepal who host the prime fascination of this place which is

its international annual trade fair in November, popularly known as Jauljibi Vyapar Mela. The basic provincial individuals of these sloping locales meet up to meet each other and in

the meantime to bear on some business. As per Swami Permanand Maharaj, the name of the deity worshipped locally in this part of Nepal and India is Jwaleshwar Mahadev who is believed to be have taken the form of Fire.

The raging agony of Jwaleshwar was calmed by Ved Vyas who had to take a bath at the confluence (sangam) place of Gori & Kali and leave his wooden stick behind. Goddess

Jwaleshwar further asked Ved Vyas to mount a Jwaleshwar Mahadev-Ling to calm her down. It is since then that the place is known as Jwaleshwar Mahadev. In the 18th century, King of Askot renamed the land as Annapurna Mahadev. This place of

Lord Shiva is en route Kailash Mansarovar and Adi Kailash Yatra. Note: This Yatra/trekking is approved by IMF & Granted for Special Casual Leave to
