- All students must first apply online.- In order to print the application form, application fee should be paid after completing the online
application.- Please confirm all of the information in the application form as changes cannot be made after application
fee has been paid.
- Please note that Koreans residing overseas or holding foreign citizenship are not allowed to apply forundergraduate courses starting in fall semester 2011.
- For graduation, freshmen must complete a minimum of eight semesters and transfer students mustcomplete a minimum of four semesters. (Students who have not completed the minimum number of
semesters required for graduation are not allowed to graduate, even if they have fulfilled all of the other
requirements for graduation.)

Doctoral Program (Ph. D):
International students (Non-Korean citizenship) with B.A. and M.A. who have completed elementary
school, junior-high school, and high school education outside Korea.
2) Undergraduate School
Freshman Admission:
International students (Non-Korean citizenship) who have completed elementary school, junior-high school,
and high school education outside Korea. Transfer Admission:
International students (Non-Korean citizenship) who have completed elementary school, junior-high school,
high school, and at least 2 years of undergraduate education outside Korea and who wish to transfer to the
third year (junior) for the undergraduate program at Hanyang University.
* Students who went to college(s) which is/are not officially approved by the Ministry of Education are not eligible
to apply for transfer admission.

Certificate of TOPIK score
1)Documents which are not in Korean or English must be notarized with translation. However, only certified
documents are accepted for Chinese students. (Notarized documents are accepted only for High schooltranscripts and graduation certificates.)
All submitted documents will not be returned.
Graduate school applicants are required to submit one additional copy of all required documents, except
the certificate authenticating bank balance.
5. Dual application for students applying for undergraduate program.
International Students and Koreans residing overseas who are applying for the fall semester of 2011 can apply for
both Seoul and ERICA campuses.
1) Criteria
1. Students who applied for Seoul campus for the first choice can also apply for ERICA campus as the second
choice.2. Students who applied for ERICA campus for the first choice cannot apply for Seoul campus or other
departments in ERICA campus.

Applicants who want to apply for both campuses must apply online twice. You can apply for ERICA campus
after applying for Seoul campus. If you do not pay for the application, you cannot submit another application
form.
3) The process of selection
Applicants will go through a screening process which will determine their eligibility based on an evaluation of
the documents they have submitted and the results of their admission test. Applicants will take the admission test
only once and those who do not get admission at the Seoul campus will automatically become candidates foradmission at ERICA campus.

4) Results and registration
You can check the result at our website by entering your birth date and application number. Those who applied for
both campuses should check the results for both campuses. Those who got admission at Seoul campus as the first
choice must register for the Seoul campus.

7. Selection Procedure

8. Admission Test (Undergraduate only)Only undergraduate applicants are required to take the admission test. Applicants who are living in China should
take the test in Shanghai, Beijing or Jinan. Applicants who fail to take the test will be automatically dropped from

admission. Applicants residing abroad, except China and Japan, must submit documents substituting for the
admission test.

3) Exam venue: Hanyang University (Details are to be announced)
4) What to bring: test I.D. card, writing tools, passport or identification card
5) Languages: Choose one among Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, German, French and Mongolian.(Students applying for International Studies must write in English)
9. Korean Language Proficiency Test
Success or failure in Korean Language Proficiency Test is irrelevant to the admission to undergraduate and
graduate schools. Nonetheless, students who have passed the admission test but failed the Korean Language
Proficiency Test must take a minimum of 6 months of Korean language course at the Hanyang University
International Language Institute, and then must successfully pass the test. However, applicants who meet one
of the following requirements are exempt from the proficiency test:
Applicants who acquired a bachelors or masters degree at Hanyang University or other universities in
Korea.
Applicants who completed more than one year of undergraduate or graduate program at other universities
in Korea.
Applicants who have passed Level 4 of TOPIK or completed Level 5 at Hanyang University International
Language Institute (Seoul campus)
Applicants who have passed Level 3 of TOPIK or completed Level 4 at Hanyang University International
Language Institute (ERICA campus)
The TOPIK requirement for exemption from Korean Language Proficiency Test has been changed from
Level 5 to Level 4 for Seoul campus and from Level 4 to Level 3 for ERICA campus.
Recipients of graduate school scholarships (Government sponsored students, recipients of Hanyang
Scholarship for Engineering and Science Students or Hanyang International Scholarship, or KGSP
students) Students applying for International Studies
Students applying for graduate school who submit a letter requesting test exemption from their academic
supervisor at Hanyang University.
1) Exam date: 05/28/2011 3:00 PM (Tentative)
2) Exam venue: Hanyang University (Specific venue to be announced later)
3) What to bring: test ID card, writing tools, passport or identification card
Undergraduate students are required to pass TOPIK Level 4 before graduation.
10. Scholarships for International Students
1) Hanyang International Scholarship Program (HISP)HISP grantees are selected based on scholastic achievement at the previously attended institution.
Applicant qualifications: Those whose GPA is 80 or higher when it is converted into a 100 scale can
apply for HISP.
Benefits: 100%, 70% or 50% reduction of tuition
Scholarship period: Regular semesters for the extent of a masters degree or Ph.D. students study (not
applicable to extra semesters)
2) Hanyang International Excellence Awards (HIEA)
HIEA is given to international students who have shown good academic performance at Hanyang
University.
Applicant qualifications: Undergraduate students who received a minimum GPA of 2.0 and graduate
students who received a minimum 3.0 GPA in the previous semester
Recipients are selected by paper screening and interview. Recipients will receive 70%, 50% or 30% of
tuition according to the evaluation result.

Scholarship period: One semester
3) Hanyang Scholarship for Engineering and Science Students
Hanyang Scholarship for Engineering and Science Students is given to international students applying for
graduate school of engineering and science who a professor at Hanyang University recommends for the
scholarship. (It is not necessary for applicants to submit a letter of recommendation.)
Benefits: 50% reduction of tuition and admission fee
Scholarship period: Regular semesters for the extent of a masters degree or Ph.D. students study (notapplicable to extra semesters)
Condition: Scholarship recipients must receive a minimum 2.0 GPA in each semester in order to retain
their scholarship.
Note: Students who are recipients of other scholarship offered by Hanyang University are not allowed to
receive this scholarship.
