FIRST READING IS 7: 10-14

The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying:

Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God;

let it be deep as the netherworld, or high as the sky!

But Ahaz answered,

"I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!"

Then Isaiah said:

Listen, O house of David!

Is it not enough for you to weary people,

must you also weary my God?

Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign:

the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,

and shall name him Emmanuel.

SECOND READING ROM 1: 1-7

Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus,

called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of

God, which he promised previously through his prophets

in the holy Scriptures, the gospel about his Son, descend-

ed from David according to the flesh, but established as

Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness

through resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our

Lord.

Through him we have received the grace of apostleship,

to bring about the obedience of faith,

for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles,

among whom are you also, who are called to belong to

Jesus Christ; to all the beloved of God in Rome, called to

be holy.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father

and the Lord Jesus Christ.

READINGS FOR THE THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT



GOSPEL MT 1: 18-24

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.

When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,

but before they lived together, she was found with child

through the Holy Spirit.

Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,

yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her

quietly.

Such was his intention when, behold,

the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,

"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your

wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit

that this child has been conceived in her.

She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,

because he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the

prophet:

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,

and they shall name him Emmanuel,

which means "God is with us."

When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had

commanded him and took his wife into his home.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Society feeds people in need twice a week. The line of people at the door of the Cronin Center has been growing.

Your donations of non-perishable foods is greatly appreciated. You can put your food items in the large wicker

baskets in the foyer. St. Vincent’s can buy perishable foods from the food bank at a very small cost. That is how your

monetary donations are used.

Monetary contributions can be made by cash or checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul. Put the dona-

tion in a separate envelope, write St. Vincent de Paul on the envelope and drop it in the parish collection bas-

ket on Sundays. Thank you very much for your generosity!!

Donaciones de alimentos no perecederos son muy apreciadas. Usted puede ponerlos en las cestas de mimbre

grande en el vestíbulo. Por las donaciones monetarias podemos comprar alimentos perecederos del Banco de ali-

mentos a un costo muy bajo. Así es cómo se utilizan sus donaciones monetarias.

Puede hacer esa contribución monetaria haciendo un cheque pagadero a St. Vincent de Paul,

LECTURAS PARA EL TERCER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO



PRIMERA LECTURA Is 7, 10-14

En aquellos tiempos, el Señor le habló a Ajaz diciendo:

"Pide al Señor, tu Dios, una señal de abajo, en lo profun-

do o de arriba, en lo alto". Contestó Ajaz: "No la pediré.

No tentaré al Señor".

Entonces dijo Isaías: "Oye, pues, casa de David: ¿No sa-

tisfechos con cansar a los hombres, quieren cansar tam-

bién a mi Dios? Pues bien, el Señor mismo les dará por

eso una señal: He aquí que la virgen concebirá y dará a

luz un hijo y le pondrán el nombre de Emmanuel, que

quiere decir Dios-con-nosotros".

SEGUNDA LECTURA ROM 1, 1-7

Yo, Pablo, siervo de Cristo Jesús, he sido llamado por

Dios para ser apóstol y elegido por él para proclamar su

Evangelio. Ese Evangelio, que, anunciado de antemano

por los profetas en las Sagradas Escrituras, se refiere a

su Hijo, Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, que nació, en cuanto a

su condición de hombre, del linaje de David, y en cuanto a

su condición de espíritu santificador, se manifestó con

todo su poder como Hijo de Dios, a partir de su resurrec-

ción de entre los muertos.

Por medio de Jesucristo, Dios me concedió la gracia del

apostolado, a fin de llevar a los pueblos paganos a la

aceptación de la fe, para gloria de su nombre. Entre ellos,

también se cuentan ustedes, llamados a pertenecer a

Cristo Jesús.

A todos ustedes, los que viven en Roma, a quienes Dios

EVANGELIO MT 11, 2-11

Cristo vino al mundo de la siguiente manera: Estando María,

tos, sucedió que ella, por obra del Espíritu Santo, estaba

esperando un hijo. José, su esposo, que era hombre justo,

no queriendo ponerla en evidencia, pensó dejarla en secre-

Mientras pensaba en estas cosas, un ángel del Señor le dijo

en sueños: "José, hijo de David, no dudes en recibir en tu

casa a María, tu esposa, porque ella ha concebido por obra

Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que había dicho
