Thursday, June 11 - Pinocchio Presented by Madcap Puppets Join Geppetto’s beloved puppet on a thrilling quest to become a real boy. Pinocchio is lured into every prank and scheme imaginable as giant puppets and audience participation are woven into this cherished classic tale.

Thursday, July 9 - Twice Upon a Time Presented by Madcap Puppets Aiden Legend, only child, is making funny faces into a mirror when it falls and breaks, accidentally propelling Aiden’s mirror image into the real world. Is there room in our world for two Aiden Legends? Can Aiden get the Accidental Twin back into the mirror!?

Saturday, June 27 - Family Nature Day - Free Boone Woods Park Shelter #3 & Creek Area, 11AM - 2PM Get outdoors and explore our backyard through hands-on activities for all ages. Discover what life lurks in the water of our creek beds, examine local fossils and wildlife and find natural treasures hidden in our local parks. Boone County Public Library and Boone County Parks are partnering with local environmental organizations, such as Thomas More Biology Field Station and Leave No Trace, as well as Boone County Community Early Childhood Council & Raptors Inc. to provide a fun and educational event for preschoolers through adults. YOUTH PROGRAMS!

Day Camps! What is your child doing this summer? Come to Camp!

Where? Erpenbeck, Goodridge, North Pointe or Yealey elementary schools! Ages? 6 to 11 years When? June 1 to July 31 (snow days may delay start date) Why? Our camps help working families make permanent, safe and affordable summer arrangements for their children. Campers are broken into age groups and do age appropriate activities to learn and grow in a fun, positive environment. It is very important for our campers to enjoy their summer. Hours? 7 am to 5:45 pm Field Trips? Yes - Field trip or guest each week! Cost of field trips is included in the weekly fee. Transportation is through the Boone County Schools on the yellow school buses. Swimming? We go to the Florence Aquatic Center Staff? They are awesome! Each camp has two On-Site Coordinators and six Counselors filled by college and high school students, who are hired and approved by the Boone County Fiscal. Our ratio at the school is less than 10 to 1. Staff is trained including CPR, First Aid and have background checks. Food? Campers must pack a lunch, but we provide snack twice a day. We watch for food allergies and dietary restrictions. Fees? 7, 8 or 9 week enrollments $135/wk. 1st camper, $115/wk. 2nd camper, $110/wk. 3rd camper 6 week enrollments $150/wk. 1st camper, $135/wk. 2nd camper, $125/3rd camper 5 week enrollments $180/wk. 1st camper, $140/wk. 2nd camper, $130/wk. 3rd camper Register? Field Trip Week! - August 3 - 7 $200/week or $50/day Camp is over and school is about to start. What are you to do? Children 6 - 11 years old can come join us! Each day brings new adventures to keep you entertained. We will travel on BC School buses to our destinations. Our ratio is 1 counselor to 5 kids. Please note that there is one drop - off/pick - up location: Yealey Elementary. Maximum enrollment of 40 participants . Buses leave at 8 AM daily and will return by 5:30 PM. Lunches will need to be packed daily.

Water Fun at the Park - FREE The Boone County Public Library and the Boone County Parks Department are partnering to bring you an evening of Water Fun in the Park! Get as wet as you want! Participate in water balloon games, obstacle courses and more water activities! Crafts and snacks too! Location - Boone Woods Park Soccer Field Date - July 23 Time - 6:30 PM - 8 PM (Register online or call the Parks Office)

FAIR JUNK - ROCK WORKSHOP - FREE New! Create Your Fair Entries Now! FREE! JUNKIMALS, JUNKOBJECTS, PAINTED ROCKS, DRESSED ROCKS (See page 15 for contest information) Join Parks staff at Boone Woods Park to create your entries for this year’s Boone County Fair. Salamander Search March 20 8-10 PM Middle Creek Park Boone County is home to many species of salamanders, which survive the winter by burrowing underground to stay warm. In early spring, salamanders are very active as they emerge from the forest floor at night and head for the small ponds that serve as breeding grounds. Join BCCDKY and Boone County Parks for a nighttime salamander search on March 20. We will have flashlights and pond nets to share, but please dress for the weather and be prepared for mud. All ages welcome. Reforest NKY April 4 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Boone Woods Park Shelter #3 Reforest Northern Kentucky is an annual, all-volunteer project organized by the Northern Kentucky Urban and Community Forestry Council to restore native Kentucky woodlands. The reforestation project is responsible for planting thousands of tree seedlings on public, protected previously mowed properties in Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties. This year’s Reforest project will be held at Boone Woods Park in Burlington, and we need your help to plant 100s of native trees! Environmental/Nature Programs! Wildflower Walk May 9 12-2 p.m. Middle Creek Park Celebrate the beauty of spring with a wildflower walk in Boone County’s natural areas. We will meet in the Middle Creek Park parking lot, then carpool to Boone Cliffs Nature Preserve for an easy forested hike. The moist, shady forest of Boone Cliffs is great habitat for many varieties of wildflowers, including spring beauties, Dutchman’s breeches, trout lily, trillium, and more. This guided hike covers moderately steep forested trails. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for hiking. All ages are welcome, but no dogs allowed. Registration is required. River Sweep June 20 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Conrad Park (Side Entrance) Help keep the Ohio River clean! Join us for a fun and ENERGETIC cleanup! Please wear appropriate clothing - tennis shoes, jeans, t-shirt, bug spray, and sunscreen. You will likely get dirty with us, but we also highly encourage it. There will be a contest, so be sure to hang out with us until noon! All ages are welcome. The Ohio River Sweep is an annual, volunteer cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River. Volunteers from the six states which border the Ohio River remove litter at multiple locations along the Ohio River and many of its tributaries.
