Golden Gate ASNT Officer Biographies

Joe Kraft, Chair Joe has been working in the Quality Control field since 1994 when he started as a foreman and QC Inspector for the Herrick Corporation. In 2008 he worked for Consolidated Engineering Labs as their Operations Manager/Field Supervisor. He is certified in CWI, ICC Structural Steel and Welding Inspector, ICC High Strength Bolting Inspector, ICC Spray Allied Fireproofing Inspector, UT MT & PT Level II, ASNT NDT Level III UT. Since 2013, Joe went back to Herrick Corporation as the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager for shop and field. Joe and his wife have one son, three daughters and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys boating, snowboarding, dirt biking and shooting. Michael Preciado, Secretary Dave Arms, Treasurer Dave began his career in NDT in 1985 working for a major airline in the SF Bay area as an NDT inspector, instructor and engineer. He holds ASNT Level III certification in MT, PT, VT, RT, UT and ET. He currently is Chief Inspector for Level III NDT, a FAA certified repair station located in Hayward. Formerly he held the positions of Secretary and Vice Chairman for your Golden Gate chapter. Dave is a licensed aircraft mechanic and private pilot. Dave is the Sales Manager for QC NDT Equipment. Wayne Johnson, Past Chair Wayne has been an ASNT level III for more than 30 years (UT, ET), AWS CRI, and is a lifetime ASNT member. He has a diverse background covering industrial NDT, Research and Development and NDT equipment manufacturing; and currently runs his own company Arete Inspection, LLC which focuses on automated UT (conventional AUT and phased array) for pipeline integrity, weld inspection, and pipeline auditing. He's worked in many international locations including; China, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, France, India, Kuwait, Bahrain and Northern North America (Canada). Interesting past applications cover: laser generated UT, multi-frequency eddy current conductivity and thickness measurement, first high speed PCMCIA digitizer for UT inspection. He also helped developed the first automated UT system for cross-country pipeline girth welds in the United States. Wayne earned a B. A. in Physics from U. C. Berkeley and he is currently completing the Triple Crown of the Golden ANST as Section Chair in 2009/10, 2010/11, and 2018/19.

Golden Gate ASNT Directors at Large Biographies Mike Ballard, Director at Large Mike began his career in NDT in 1985, after graduating from Hutchinson Technical Institute, working for The Virginia Corporation of Richmond as an NDT inspector. He then worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric for 12 years and now works at Pacific Gas and Electric since 2002. He holds ASNT Level III certification in MT and UT, PDI certification for Section XI UT inspection and a CWI. Richard Seals, Director at Large Richard is a certified ASNT/ACCP Level III Inspector and Instructor in MT, PT, RT, and UT. He has 50+ years of experience in the NDT field. In his free time, Richard loves to sail on the bay. Marty Rosson, Director at Large Marty is a native Californian and a graduate of UC Berkeley and has been a member of ASNT for over fifty years. He is a registered professional engineer in

quality engineering in California and is an ASNT Level III in 6 fields of nondestructive testing. His professional experience spans many fields from fluorescent

penetrant research, refinery construction in Indonesia, to manufacturing nuclear power plants and inspection of naval aircraft. Currently, Marty is an

independent consultant in NDE Engineering and provides support to many bay area companies. He spends his free time hiking and traveling.

Allison Wright, Director at Large Allison Wright, Director-at-Large, is a Nondestructive Inspection Engineer for NDT Solutions. She works with customers to solve NDT problems and develops new NDT products. She has a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Nondestructive Inspection from Iowa State University. Allison previously worked in Nondestructive Inspection Research & Development for a large aircraft structures company. Outside of NDT, Allison is a lifelong Girl Scout and enjoys teaching girls about STEM. She enjoys baking (and eating) cakes and being outdoors with her son and husband. Graham Thomas, Education Chair Graham has been a member of ASNT for over 40 years. He has been active in ASNT at the local section level, the national level and the international level. He retired from Sandia National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he was involved with NDE research and development.

GGASNT 2020 Section Meeting Schedule

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, with no meeting in June, July and August (see program details below). The location is generally at Buffalo Wild Wings, 200 Montgomery Street (near the intersection of Bollinger Canyon Road and Alcosta Boulevard) in San Ramon, CA. Check the Golden Gate ASNT website (GGASNT.org) or contact an officer to confirm.
