Barbara King, liturgist Your way, O God, is holy, and we are quick to say we will follow it; but we so easily look back and show ourselves unworthy of your kingdom. Your Spirit, O God, would bear good fruit in our lives; but we so soon return to the works of the flesh, devouring one another and seeking self-gratification. Forgive us, Holy God, for each time we have opposed your Spirit or wandered from your way. Give us the resolute Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ, that we may follow him in the way of true discipleship, the way of the cross, bearing good and lasting fruit that is most pleasing to you.

Silence is kept

Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying Nº 469

Friends, believe this good news. In Christ Jesus, we are called to a new way of being; a new way of living. We are loved. We are forgiven. We are new creations!

The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you!

Please greet those around you with the peace of Christ.

Halle, Halle, Hallelujah! Nº 591

Rejoice, the Lord Is King! Nº 363

A SPECIAL WELCOME TO ALL NEWCOMERS: we greet you in the name of Jesus Christ! Please fill out a visitor card, located in the pew back, and drop it in the offering plate when it is passed.

EARLY BIRD COFFEE FELLOWSHIP every Sunday, 9:30 am in the library. Stop by for coffee and conversation!

COFFEE FELLOWSHIP following worship will be hosted by the Deacons in the gym today. Enjoy coffee, tea, juice, and fellowship!

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND SPRITUAL IDENTITY: What in the world is Emotional Intelligence, and what does it have to do with our spiritual lives? Be sure to come out November 24, December 1, 8, and 15, as Pastor Jeff leads a conversation stemming from his doctoral work and the work of Jim Herrington and others. This will be a time to learn something new, share your own experiences, and continue to grow in following Christ! All classes will be from 11:15 (ish) to 12:15 pm in Armitage Hall unless otherwise noted.

AS VALLEY’S FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY TEAM is starting preparations for the Advent Fair on December 7, we are in need of some help. Items in the bell tower have been rearranged and we cannot find either the wooden bases or the printed signs that have been used at each activity table. If you know of their whereabouts, please contact Ruthann Marquis.

WELCOME THE ADVENT SEASON! Join us Saturday, December 7 for the Annual Advent Fair as well as the Tree Lighting and Carol Sing. We have moved the Advent Fair to Saturday for the first time. Advent Fair is from 3:00-5:00 pm in the gym with pizza served 4:00-5:00 pm (freewill offering for the pizza). At 5:00 pm please join us on our front lawn to watch our tree light and gather around to sing carols. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served outside. Dress for our unpredictable Oregon weather.

ON DECEMBER 15 AT 10:00 AM WORSHIP, Valley will present its annual Pageant. The Valley Youth Choirs and the Sanctuary Choir will sing, in addition to several carols for the congregation to sing. The Christmas story will be presented through movement, sign language, song, narration. Feast your eyes on beautiful costumes and enjoy the Christmas ambience in the sanctuary. This is a wonderful service to share with neighbors and friends.

THE SALVATION ARMY GIVING TREE is located in the front entryway. Take a tag and bring the unwrapped item (along with the tag) to be placed under the tree by 1:00 pm on Monday, December 9. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no 9:00 am Sunday Adult Education during the month of December. Stay tuned for information on the next class!

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church*, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *meaning the universal Christian church—all believers in Jesus Christ

Rev. Jeff Binder

(p.35 in the hymnal)

Nº 606 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

We go from this place called by Christ our King. We go from this place sent out into the world. “Look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting.” “The reaper…is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.” Go out into the world to love and serve the Lord. Alleluia! Amen.

You are invited to remain seated to conclude worship with the postlude.
