Firstly, I would like to welcome all exhibitors and visitors of AFRO

PACKAGING EXHIBITION 2013 in its second edition.

AFRO PACKAGING EXHIBITION 2013, in its first edition, succeeded

to make true adding a new concept of exhibition to fulfill a great

benefit to all related to the industry of Packing & Packaging not

only in the Egyptian market but extended to MENA region.

AFRO PACKAGING keeps its design and standards in accordance to

international level to attract more manufacturers and those who

care with packing, packaging and food processing industrial

technologies not only in Egypt but in the region, Africa and the

whole world.

The Arab African company for exhibitions is extending through

organizing Afro Packaging exhibition for the second year to keep

presenting the most updated technologies specialized in

packaging industry, to support improvement of local industries

combined together with the new technologies of the international

manufactures. It will keep creating new opportunities for

manufacturers to recognize onsite a new base of buyers on the

national and international levels.

AFRO PACKAGING EXHIBITION is keeping the lead as a starting

point for new horizons for such vital industry which is involved in

all industries such as food, chemical and pharmaceutical

industries.

We hope that AFRO PACKAGING will keep contributing to the

increasing of market power of packaging sector. Also, we hope

On behalf of Afro packaging team, it is a great honor to welcome all

exhibitors and visitors to Afro-Packaging Exhibition 2013.

Commercial and industrial exhibitions have proven their importance

for both local and international markets, as they offer unique and

distinguished opportunities for manufacturers, traders, investors and

decision makers to generate great business deals effectively and

inexpensively. Meanwhile, exhibitions contribute to the improvement

and promotion of competitiveness for the industry in which they

function.

For the second year, Afro-Packaging Exhibition takes its large steps

towards the reinforcement of packaging and processing industries in

Egypt and MENA region. Through these two years, Afro-Packaging has

been a showcase bringing top worldwide manufacturers of packaging

and processing industries under one roof to exhibit the most updated

and latest industrial technologies to the eager markets of Egypt and

other countries in the MENA region.

In its second round Afro-Packaging 2013 has been known as the North

African largest packaging and processing industries exhibition, 2

gathering 150 exhibitors from 20 countries in an area of 9000 m . Apart

from becoming the reference for such strategic market, Afro-

Packaging provides unprecedented opportunities for worldwide

packaging and processing manufacturers and suppliers to establish

their business in Egypt and North Africa.

We would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to Afro-

is free of charge upon registration. Exhibition's opening hours:

The Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian museum, at Tahrir square, first opened its doors

to visitors on 15th November 1902. It contains the greatest

collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world, ranging from

pharaonic times to the Greco-Roman Era. Over 120,000

artifacts are displayed throughout its 107 halls. It is a treasure

trail of discovery for anyone who wishes to learn about the

history of Egypt in ancient times. Of Course, everybody wants

especially to see the celebrated treasures from the tomb of the

young Pharaoh, Tutankhamun. These occupy a large area along

almost two sides of the upper floor. The dazzling treasures

found in his tomb include: gilded chariots, fabulously opulent

jewelry exotic ornaments and furniture, and naturally, the

exquisitely beautiful gold mask inlaid with lapis lazuli and the

other exotic stones, as well as the three golden coffins in which

the boy-king's mummy was first encased, before being laid to

rest inside the sarcophagus in his burial chamber deep within

the valley of the Kings.

The Museum can be seen as the equivalent in Egypt of the

Louvre in Paris. However, plans are now under way for the

The Citadel

One of Cairo's most popular tourist destinations is

the citadel, a fortress built by the illustrious Salah

EI Din. The Citadel encloses a number of

museums, Historic Mosques, and the other

features of great interest, including AI Gawhara

palace, the National Military Museum, and the

police Museum, as well as the celebrated

Mohamed Ali Mosque, one of the city's most

prominent landmarks, built in the Ottoman style

by Mohamed Ali Pasha, who became the

Governor of this province of the Ottoman

Sultanate, and who is universally recognised as

the virtual founder of modern Egypt.

Is a place that no visitor to Cairo can afford to miss.

It might be considered as something of a vibrant,

living museum. It is by far the most historic market

in the world - founded in 1382 by Prince Djaharks

AI Khalili. An ancient bazaar, which is still bursting

with quaint little shops and workshops, and

buzzing with activity. The khan has long been the

main hub of hall commercial activity in the

neighborhood, and has been a stop - off point for

merchants of all kinds down the centuries. The

various precincts of the bazaar are renowned for a

bewildering variety of artifacts and commodities.

The traders here will sell you anything from

perfume oils and spices, to gifts and souvenirs,

such as Pharaonic statuettes and figurines or a

gilded papyrus. An emporium crammed to the

beams with everything under the sun, whatever

you're looking for, you're sure to find it here!

Cairo's main Railway station for many years, has

already been relocated to its new home, at what

will be the entrance to the new Museum. Space

does not permit us here to describe all of Cairo's

many other fascinating museums in detail, but a

visitor to the city will enjoy the collections on

display at such other notable Museums as the

Islamic Museum, the Coptic Museum in the old

Christian quarter of Mar Girgis, and the

Mahmoud Khalil Museum, which houses the

impressive collection of painting, sculpture and

exquisite antiques, which was lovingly assembled

throughout his lifetime by the eminent Dr.

Mahmoud Khalil, and which was eventually

bequeathed to the nation.

suburbs of Heliopolis. It is another place that is

not exactly a Museum, but is one of those

fascinating curios that has been the subject of

urban myth an-d legends since it was first built

around 1907.

It was commissioned by a Belgian baron, General

Edward Louis Joseph Empain, who was the son of

one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the

20th century. The garden contains a multiplicity of

statues and carvings of all kinds: effigies of

Buddha, Shiva and Krishna, abound, as well as

elephants and snakes and other exotic beasts.

The Egyptian govern ment has recently

undertaken the task of restoring the fabled palace

and is considering converting it into a museum of

some kind.

Al Azhar Park

The Baron Palace

No visit to this part of town would be complete

nowadays without a trip to AI Azhar Park, the fruit

of a generous endowment from the Aga Khan in

1984. The park is the largest green space, created

in cairo over a century ago, as it covers some 74

acres of land on the hilltop above the historic

university, thus commanding splendid panoramic

views of the city below, and offers the visitor a

delightfully refreshing break from the bustling

streets and alleyways of the town. It has been

beautifully designed to include shaded pathways,

a children's play area, a Museum, a spectacular

restaurant, and lakeside cafe. The restaurant is

built around a courtyard with a fountain at its

centre. A shaded walkway leads to a terrace which

offers a magnificent vista of the citadel and then

slopes down towards a formal garden lined by a

colonnade of marble columns. The gardens

display a wide range of species of native Egyptian

flora- ornamental shrubs and flowering trees of

every kind, to delight the eye and scent the breeze

in spring and summer. A stroll through the park in

spring or summer, together with the tantalising

scent of the surrounding citrus groves, and the

scents of herbs and other flowering trees and

shrubs, conspire to produce a feeling of serenity

and a joyous lightness of being.

Is an intriguing Hindu-style folly, located in the

you can take your pick from a cornucopia of

mouth-watering dishes. There are also numerous

floating restaurants moored along the banks of

the Nile, and a profusion of riverside cafes

offering the finest in Middle Eastern or more

exotic cuisines. The Nile at night is a veritable

fairyland of twinkling lights, and there can be few

finer ways to enjoy it than to take a ride on one of

the many Nile cruisers. You can relax on deck and

enjoy the cool night air, before tucking in to a

splendid buffet dinner below decks, during which

you will also be treated to a floor show featuring

such flashes of traditional local colour as a belly

dancer and whirling dervishes ....

Besides the more modern face of Cairo and its

environs, recent years have witnessed enormous

growth in another kind of tourism - an increasing

number of visitors to Egypt are lured by the

delights of the Red Sea, heading for a range of

magnificent resorts on the shores of this most

entrancing sea. These include the now celebrated

and fashionable resort of Sharm el Sheikh, at the

southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula, more

funky Dahab and tranquil Nuweiba, both a little

further up the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba towards

Taba on the border with Israel

Submarine delights …

This extraordinary rich heritage is naturally a

powerful magnet for visitors from allover the

world ... one does not have to be an academic or

an Egyptologist in particular, to delight in the

multitude of monuments and smaller treasures

that can be seen, but nowadays there is much

more besides this extraordinary historical legacy

that lures visitors to Egypt. In addition to the

historical and cultural legacy, there is so much

more.

A bustling modern metropolis coexists alongside

these remnants of the ancient world a world of

soaring tower blocks, elegant upscale hotels,

restaurants, prestigious shopping malls, their

stores and boutiques stocked with the latest

fashions, state-of-the-art hospitals and clinics,

gymnasiums, health & leisure centres, beautifully

landscaped golf courses, amusement parks,

country clubs offering a full range of sporting and

leisure facilities, a whole new generation of

private schools and universities, and the

development of chic new residential estates at,

and beyond the outskirts, of the city. The banks of

the Nile are nowadays home to branches of some

of the world's finest hotels, offering panoramic

views of this endlessly fascinating river, whether

from the seclusion of one's private balcony, o-r

whilst dining in one of the plethora of fine

restaurants that are found in all the most select

On the eastern, mainland coast, there is the

hugely popular resort town of Hurgada, the more

recently established chic, upscale resort EI Gouna

& further south, the up and coming resort of

Marsa Alam, which is now already a big drawer for

serious diving aficionados. The Red Sea is an

endlessly fascinating tapestry of vibrantly colored

corals and other exotic marine life. Corals, sea

anemones, sponges and spiny urchins are among

its less mobile inhabitants, while dolphins, marine

turtles and manta rays are just a few of the larger

denizens of its crystal-blue lagoons

The chance to dive or snorkel around some of the

most beautiful reefs in the world is obviously a

powerful attraction for many of those who come

to the Red Sea resorts, but many other water

sports & fun activities are on offer at all these

splendid locations, or for those who prefer to take

a lazy break, there is always the traditional option

of just taking things easy on the beach ... under a

parasol! For the more intrepid visitor, Safaris by

jeep, camel or on horseback, offer exciting

excursions into the desert or up into the hills, .o as

most of the resorts mentioned above are close to

rugged & dramatic mountains offering

unparalleled views of spectacular ravines &

canyons.

Further from the sparkling blue waters of the Red

Sea, deeper within the hinterland of South Sinai,

is the location of one of the most famous

mountains in the world, known in English as

Mount Sinai. It was at the summit of this holy

mountain that God spoke to Moses from the

midst of the miraculous Burning Bush, and where

Moses was later to receive the tablets of the law.

Nestling in the foothills ofthe mountain between

Mt. Sinai itself and the dizzying heights of the

neighboring peak, St Catherine's Mount, is the

ancient Monastery of St Catherine's, where

accommodation is available for those who wish to

spend a night or· more on this most magical and

hallowed ground. The monastery and the

The Holy Mountain

Mountain itself attract a constant stream.of

visitors and latter-day pilgrims, many of whom

like to make the long climb to the summit during

the hours of darkness, the better to enjoy the

spectacle of sunrise over this desolate but

breathtakingly beautiful landscape.

Recent years have also witnessed the

construction of a large number of smaller, more

secluded and exclusive resort developments in a

variety of locations, such as Soma Bay, 4S

kilometers south of Hurgada, La Siesta, nesting in

the mountains at the northern end of the coast of

the Gulf Of Suez, looking out towards Ain EI

Sukhna, and up-scale new resort developments,

such as San Stefano, and Porto Marine, on the

north coast facing the shores of the

Mediterranean. The now well-established resort

of Ain el Sukhna, just an hour or so from Cairo by

road, is now a firm favorite with Egyptian

holidaymakers or weekenders, and foreign

residents & visitors, alike. The Amer Group,who

were the architects of the Porto Marine resort

development, are now planning an even more

ambitious new development in Ain el Sukhna, to

be known as Porto Sukhna. This will enjoy a

spectacular location in the mountains, about 270

meters above sea level at Ain el sukhna, and will

include such delights as a delightfully Italianesque

town center, luxury seaside and mountain

apartment villas, a world class golf course, a

marina, elegant top-class hotels, Egypt's first ever

teleferique, and five luxury spas, as well as an

The Pearl of the Mediterranean

Once the capital of this ancient land, and

nowadays Egypt's second s:ity, Alexandria is also

an amazing blend of ancient and modern .... ln

ancient times, Alexandria was famous for its

library, the greatest library in the ancient world,

and for the Pharos, or lighthouse, which was one

of the tallest structures in the world at that time,

and named by the Greek historian Herodotus as

one of the seven wonders of the world .... until it

was toppled by an earthquake in fairly distant

times. The ancient library of Alexandria burned

down, also far back in the mists of time, but has, in

a sense, arisen from the ashes like the legendary

phoenix, with the inauguration of the shining new

BibliotecaAlexandria. It has already become the

city's most important cultural landmark, with six

specialised libraries within its precincts, as well as

three museums, a planetarium, a conference

facility that can accommodate thousands of

participants, seven research institute'S, and

regular major exhibitions. It already welcomes

around 800,000 visitors a year. The Pharos has not

been resurrected however- the fortress of sultan

Qaitbey, which dates from 1480 AD~ still stands

upon the foundations and lower ramparts of the

ancient lighthouse. Besides these echoes of the

ancient world.

Alexandria in modern times is a thriving seaside

resort, with miles of sandy beaches stretching

from AI Montazah, with its magnificent gardens,

at the easternmost end of the city, to EI Agami, at

the far western end. Beyond that, Egypt's north

Coast Stretches as far west as Libya, and is famous

for smart new resorts like Porto Marina, a huge

new development, and just further west, the

popular resort of Marsa Matrouh. Just a little west

of here, and just offshore, stands a rock around

which swirl the turquoise waters of the

Mediterranean l e g e n d h a s i t t h a t

Cleopatra and Marc Anthony themselves, are said

to have bathed here. One can wade out to this

rock from the shore, where the innumerable tides

of century upon century have worn ledges in the

cliffs .... Alexandria is also Egypt's major port city

and therefore a crucially important commercial

centre, as the majority of the country's imports

and exports are received or dispatched from its

bustling docks. Around 40% of Egypt's industries

are located in and around the city, and with

Amreya industrial free trade Zone, and the recent

Borg AI Arab development, together with its two

airport terminals, its prominence in the fields of

industry and commerce can only grow .....
