Literacy In order to become recreational and life-long readers, youth need the opportunity to practice and develop their literacy skills in relaxed and enjoyable environments. With this program, youth participate in activities such as group reading and group discussions, storytelling, leisure reading, literacy games and other such reading-based interactions that can foster youths’ interest and motivation to read.

Cooking This program is designed to encourage creativity in the kitchen and help children learn how to make healthy modifications to their favorite dishes. With each class, children learn a nutritional concept, a cooking skill, and prepare and share a meal together.

Fine Arts The fine arts program provides members with an introductory level framework of visual arts concepts and skills. Members will engage in artistic problem solving and critical thinking through series of hands on activities based on California Visual Art Content Standards.

Tech Our tech program utilizes a resourceful social platform called My Future. My Future, is a safe, fun, mobile-friendly social platform with access to more than 100 BGCA program activities, in areas such as STEM, leadership and visual arts.

Gardening Our garden serves as a living laboratory and outdoor classroom that encourages students to explore and be curious. It provides an opportunity for students to acquire valuable life skills and gain a better understanding of life sciences.

STEM Our STEM programs serve to broaden member engagement in STEM and prepare, inspire, and equip youth to choose STEM disciplines as a higher education interest and future career choice. Through fun, engaging hands-on activities that stimulate the imagination and help make STEM come alive, the BGCGSD enhances their academic learning experience and ignites their interest and aptitude in STEM subjects, helping students develop the ability to think critically.

Leadership Provides teens with an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in four areas: academic success, career exploration, community service, and teen outreach.
