Message from the Dean
Prof. Dr. Azhar Hussain
As Dean of the Faculty, I welcome you and invite you to carefully look over our website and
prospectus. Since the inception of the Pharmacy program, more than a decade ago, the FOP has
remained a place of innovation, creativity and excellence in pharmacy education. Our faculty, alumni
and students remain passionate about enhancing the quality and scope of the profession and providing
service to those most in need. Pharmacy Program at Hamdard University (HU) is among the oldest in
the private sector universities and envisages for preparing qualified pharmacists for the future.
HU plays a distinctive and essential leadership role in the academic and professional evolution of the
pharmacy professionals. This institution is committed in its pursuits of excellence to providing the best
academic facilities and an affable atmosphere to its students for studying in a peaceful and tranquil
environment.
Pharmacy is an exciting profession and an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
It is a life-saving profession and Pharmacists are the custodians of medicines. World Health
Organization recognizes Pharmacist as “Eight Star Pharmacist” and describes their role as a care giver,
decision maker, communicator, leader, manager, researcher, team player and as a teacher.
HU has the highest ranking in Pakistan and its Pharmacy Program is recognized by Pharmacy Council
of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission. At the moment we have campuses in Karachi and
Islamabad and our academic offerings include the Doctor of Pharmacy professional degree program,
M.Phil. and PhD.
You will find a welcoming place where talented individuals solve complex problems by working in
collaboration – with colleagues in other disciplines throughout the university and at academic
institutions around the world, as well as with industry and governmental partners. We transcend
traditional ways of thinking to creatively generate transformative ideas and outcomes.
HU continues to evolve and grow. What remains constant is our commitment to preparing students to
be agents of change within their field, seeking to apply their knowledge and skills to improve the lives
of people both nationwide and globally. On behalf of my whole team, I welcome you again in the
