Are all the great school detectives on vacation? The cameras are still missing.
2 of the school cameras have been misplaced in the school
somewhere. There will be a prize to the student or teacher that
locates the missing cameras and returns them to the office.
There will also be a special prize for the best story written
about the missing cameras, where they went and how they
were found.
New Lolly Guessing Jar
Come to the office with 20 cents to have a guess at
the number of gumballs in the lolly jar. Guess the
correct number and you will have enough gumballs
to last a long time.

Parent/Teacher/Student Learning Conferences Class teachers will be offering parent/teacher learning conferences for parents of students in their class in the last week of term 2 on Tuesday June 24 and Wednesday June 25, in the afternoon between 3.30-5.30pm.
To arrange an appointment time parents are asked to fill in a time that suits them on forms outside each teacher’s classrooms. This is the same process we used at the beginning of the year. Please take up this opportunity to catch up with your child’s class teacher.
Parent/Teacher/Student learning conferences are an opportunity for parents to ask teachers questions, find out more about supporting your child’s learning as well as clarifying information included in the report.
Wet Weather We have had some very wet and cold days and can expect a few more now we are in the season of Winter. Students are encouraged to wear gum boots, bring a jumper to school and even wear a coat and a scarf outside to keep warm. Children can also bring along slippers to wear in classrooms. Some children may also need to bring along a change of spare clothes to school when it is wet and muddy outside.
Leaves! Leaves! Leaves! As the Season of Winter draws closer, each day the leaves around the school continue to pile up. Families are encouraged to take bags of leaves from the front gate to use in compost bins. We will happily refill these bags during this term. There are plenty of leaves for everyone! School Website

Active After School Communities (AASC) Term 3 programs We are excited to continue the Active After School Communities Programs in term 3. These are a fabulous opportunity for students at
Drouin West to get active, participate in a new sport and make some new friends. In term 3 starting week 4, students in years 3 to 6 have the chance to do Taekwondo on Tuesday afternoons with Adonis Mazarella. On Wednesday afternoons, students in years prep to 2 can join Jennifer Cunneen for Dance. Both programs will be held after school. Students get to enjoy some delicious fresh fruit before the program begins. This program is funded by the Federal Government and targeted to Primary School aged children to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Links to local sporting clubs are encouraged. Parents interested in their child/children participating in the program for term 3 are welcome to let Ann know in the office. New children to the program will need to be registered and will be given priority.
Taekwondo
A fun and interactive introduction to Taekwondo will be
offered this term. The focus will be on basic Taekwondo
techniques including basic blocks and strikes. Discipline of
the sport will be focused on, whilst participants will also
benefit from an understanding of how the sport came about,
and why and when it should be used.
Dance
Join the
introduction to
dance program
which focuses on a
combination of
physical skill
development,
creative discovery
and expression of
movement ideas. The dance program will take children on a
journey of expression through a combination of jazz and hip
hop classes.
Student Reports Student reports will be sent home with children on Friday June 20. Please read these reports with your child, celebrate their achievements, discuss the areas in which they can continue to strive to improve and look at what you can continue to do at home to support your child’s learning.

Chaplain’s News
Hi everyone,
Last week I was privileged to be part of
the celebration session with our students
who have participated in our Seasons for
Growth program.
We enjoyed cooking marshmallows
around the campfire and reflected on our
time in the program and the special times we have with our
families.
The Seasons for Growth program is based on the belief that
change, loss and grief are a normal and valuable part of life. It
gives each participant the appropriate knowledge, skills and
attitudes to understand and to cope with change, loss
and grief. It does this through peer support.
We have had a very special time together. I would
really like to thank the children for their enthusiasm
and willingness to participate and share. Every week
we have learned something new such as:
Understanding that the reactions to grief and
loss are normal
Educating about the grief process
Developing skills for coping, problem solving
and decision making
Building peer support
Helping restore self confidence and self esteem
Some of our students were thinking about change that has occurred in their family due to a pet dying, a
family member passing away, parents who have separated, an illness
or changing schools.
At the end of the program some of the students said...
Not everything in life is perfect
I’m not the only person who has gone through change
Others still have problems but different ones
I’m not the only one whose family has changed
It’s okay to cry
It’s okay to feel sad
I know what I can do when I worry
I can help other people by listening
To not make a problem too big
I am pleased to offer this 8 week program again to some more of our
students. A note was sent home yesterday to the oldest child in the
family explaining about the program and with a permission note
attached. Please return it to school by next Wednesday June 25th if
you would like to have your child participate.
Take care!
