Mrs. Tart was born March 1, 1925, in Harnett County to the late Samuel and Irene Barefoot Hardison and moved to Ft. White in 2002, coming from Sanford. She was a registered nurse for 36 years and retired from Lee County Hospital in Sanford. Mrs. Tart was a member of Evangel Church of God. Mr. Tart was born in Harnett County on July 14, 1928, to the late Eules Alton and Alma Byrd Tart and moved to Ft. White in 2002, coming from Sanford. He managed Twin City Laundry and Dry Cleaners for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood work. He was a member of Evangel Church of God. Graveside funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Tart will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Cemetery in Dunn by the Rev. David Hancock. They are survived by daughters, Patricia Chasteen and husband Sonny of Plant City, Fla., Kathy Hancock and husband David of Ft. White; grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Danielle, Robbie and Michelle; and great-grandchildren, Xian and Jennifer. Mr. Tart was a native of Dunn and was a son of the late J.B. "Doc" and Neva Godwin Tart. Mr. Tart was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired conductor for the Durham and Southern Railroad and Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunn and Palmyra Lodge @#147, the Wilmington Consistory of the Scottish Rite and Sudan Temple. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery by Rev. Larry Melton. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Tart; a stepson, Jimmy Surles of Spivey's Corner; brothers, Corbett Tart of Dunn, John Tart of Richmond, VA, Joe Tart of Cinton and Pat Tart of Baltimore, Md.; and sisters, Janie Johnson of Benson, Araminta Johnson of Benson and Ann Joyner of Cary. He managed Twin City Laundry and Dry Cleaners for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood work. He was a member of Evangel Church of God. Mrs. Iva Tart Lee, 84, passed away April 17, 2007 at Oaks of Carolina. Mrs. Lee was born in Johnston County to the late James Alcy Tart and Negie McLamb. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Matthew Lee, son, James Larry Lee, daughters, Helen Mae Lee, Carolyn Faye Lee and grandson, Chad Wendell Dunn, great-grandchild, Christian Brooks Lee. Mrs. Lee was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, wife, friend and caregiver. She is the founder of Lee's Long Term Care, which was founded in 1972. Born in Johnston County, on January 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Mellie and Ethel Tart Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was retired from Norwich Mills where she worked as a seamstress. Johnson of Smithfield; son, Braxton Langdon of Smithfield; daughters, Shirley Davis of Tampa, FL, Jelynn Hall of Dallas, TX, Doreann Smith of Reidsville; sisters, Mary J. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Casey and Rev. Jim Waggoner. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Ruth Benson Tart Fayetteville Observer, The (NC) April 12, 2000 Ms. Ruth Benson Tart, 81, of Erwin died Friday in Good Hope Hospital. Sylvia Mae Tart Wheeler Fayetteville Observer, The (NC) March 23, 1999 HOPE MILLS - Mrs. Mae Tart Wheeler, 69, of 4271 Legion Road died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mrs. Wheeler was a substitute teacher for the Cumberland County Schools for more than 30 years. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She was born June 18, 1920, in Dunn to the late Thaddius D. and

Anna Mae Tart. She was the widow of Woodrow Wilson Millard and Chester Marden. Mrs. Marden was one of 14 children, left home in her late teens/early 20s to pursue a career in government printing, where she was one of the first female workers hired during World War II in Washington, D.C. She was a former member of the Garden Club of North Myrtle Beach, an avid golfer and former member of Bay Tree Golf Plantation and Myrtle Wood Golf Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held this morning at 11 at First UM Church by the Rev. Ken Timmerman and Dr. Robert C. Wilkes Jr. The committal service will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
