Agustín Echevarría-Santiago, J.D. Academic Profile
Agustín Echevarría is currently in his twelfth year
as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at
Inter American University of Puerto Rico, oldest private
nonprofit university system in Puerto Rico, established in
1912.
He holds a Juris Doctor Degree and a Bachelor of
Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto
Rico, where he served as professor from 1973 until 1986.
From 1989 until 1992 he was appointed Executive Director of the Institute of
Puerto Rican Culture of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. During this period, he
served in several governmental boards.
In 1999 he became member of the Board of Director of the Puerto Rico
Humanities Foundation, becoming its President in 2000.
Actually, he is Executive Secretary of the Caribbean Region of Inter American
Organization for Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) and has several publications in the fields
of law, political science and Puerto Rican Culture. He has offered conferences in
Puerto Rico, the United States of America, and Latin America.
