TAC Update

HAC (Honors and Awards Committee) Liaison to TAC – Replacement for Basil needed. Volunteers? AIAA is partnering with Aviation Week to help them with their 20 in their 20’s competition. Karen Thomas is asking for

volunteers for the evaluation committee. Theye need a total of 6 people. The judging will take place in Reston at AIAA Headquarters during the week of January 25th. It will be a combination of virtual and in person and will take about 2-3 hours. Thee need the names by January 5th.

DATC Roster Update due in January – COMPLETED The AIAA Technical Committee (TC) Nomination period ended and the DATC was forwarded 3 potential new

members: Abdul Rahman El Fouly / GE Aviation (aero engr) Arunabh Chattopadhyay / Honeywell Aerospace (mech engr) Mahyar Malekpour / NASA LaRC (elec engr)

The AIAA Staff is still looking for new locations for the DEFENSE Forum. One option is to continue using JPL for classified sessions and hold unclassified sessions at a nearby hotel. AIAA staff is also talking with DEPS and possibly collaborate with them. D. Ponchak sent in a suggestion for a classified conference center in Florida. If you know of others, please let TAC know.

IEEE AES Partnership Update

• Gonda/Hitt replaced our old perpetual MOAs with the IEEE AES with MOAs that expired after 5 years in 2012. Since then, the MOAs have been replaced with conference specific MOUs. This has resulted in the following: The DATC has retained sole ownership of both DASC and ICNS (this is probably the single most

important outcome). Partnership (financial or technical) with the IEEE is on a conference-by-conference basis A written 50-50 financial co-sponsorship agreement exists for the 35th DASC The AES has recognized that they do not provide much support and are willing to take a smaller financial

percentage and will continue to publish our papers. Also they will not consider and sharing of the paper download revenue.

A 90-10 (90% DATC) financial co-sponsorship verbal agreement exists for the 2016 and 2017 ICNS Conferences.

AES would like to co-sponsor the 36th DASC at 75-25 (75% DATC). The DEC no longer exists in the old format and needs to be reconsidered along with rotation of the

conference chair and technical program chair.

• The 35th DASC Chairs and Treasurer decided to replace ALR Intl and MITRE with Conference Catalyst based on a cost analysis. They have signed a one-year contract. The 36th DASC can reconsider this decision. 11

Need to fill vacant sub-committee positions: Thanks to George Andrew for becoming the ICNS Conference Treasurer! Where to store conference materials (seal embosser, CDs, etc.) Need to obtain conference insurance Do we have a document archive strategy for things like tax returns, meeting minutes,

meeting presentations, etc. Does anyone have all the ICNS and DASC Final Reports? They should be archived also The Handbook needs several sections updated from past actions.
