    AIESEC International Congress

From 20 29 of August, 700 young leaders from over 110 countries and territories, along with senior

management of over 100 companies are converging in Nairobi for Kenyas largest international

congregation of young people, the AIESEC International Congress 2011, Kenya. AIESEC in Universiti

Utara Malaysia was proudly to present the International Congress experience of our Local Committee

    President, Ms. Khor Gaik Huey.

    My International Congress Experience

Im very happy that I had the chance to go to the International Congress in Kenya which I had never

dreamed before. Opportunity does not always come to you, that why I plan to go for it no matter what

situation. I know I play an important role to be there as a Local Committee President and as well as a

representative of Member Committee of Vice President of Outgoing Exchange.

What I had learned during International Congress?

1 . The way they do it

It was definitely made me impressed .The whole International Congresswas divided into four blocks,

which are Understand(understand the context of AIESEC 2015), Explore(explore full potential as a

network for what AIESEC 2015 means), Connect(connect with the network we have and celebrate the

success together or getting even more discussion and information from each other) and Deliver

(equipped to deliver the change and perform successes this year). Every session taught me a lot.

Instead of spoon feeding, it made us to think and discuss with others to get more and more ideas on

    each of the blocks.

    2. Networking

I met a lot of people over there from different countries such

as Kenya, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Finland and

others . All the delegates were from different backgroundsand entities, we shared our knowledge together, we discussed

on certain topics, which made me feel that, how they view

things differently. They were always stunned me when they

view things in different angle which I had never discover that

    before.

    3. Leadership

There was a session for leadership challenges. All leaders had

different leadership styles in order to bring the whole teams

to which direction that we should be headed to. In thisleadership challenges, I learned some practical skills and

experience the teamwork. We will know what our role in a

team; no matter we are just a follower or a leader. Everyone

is here because he or she has a place to fill, and everyone

must fit them self into the big jigsaw puzzle.

    4. Strategic and Plans

There were lots of good case practices from other countries which are good examples that we can learn

from them. All the countries had their own new initiatives on how to move an AIESEC to the path of

AIESEC 2015 which would help all of the AIESEC entities to growth together. Good Case Practices

from other countries were definitely interested me to hear from them and definitely we can create our

own successful stories which they can be implement in our entity as well.

    5. Engage with Corporate Company

It was good that AIESEC International actually engage with corporate companies in the Youth to

Business session. It was a unique event which connected top young leaders and global business and

social leaders, to explore the topics of leaderships, innovation and corporate responsibility, and the

impact we can have on the world through our positive actions.

    6. Explore Culture

Although AIESEC International Congress 2011 was in Kenya, but

definitely Im not only the one to explore on Kenya cultures, I getto know others cultures because AIESEC exists in more than 107

countries and territories. I learned on their working styles, their

cultures, religions, costumes, thinking, the way they do things and

    others.

Seriously, this AIESEC International Congress had made me to

expand my knowledge and broaden my vision. Last but not least,

dont ask yourself what the world needs, but ask yourself what

makes you come alive and then go do on that. Because the world

needs people who have come alive.
