Russell Aivazian – ePortfolio Communication Skills Reflection Form This artifact is a presentation titled Being a Supportive Partner in the Developmental Journey, was presented for our Resident Assistant (RA)/Learning Community Assistant (LCA) Winter Training with Lisa Rogers. For me, this presentation showcases my learning from the program translating into my practice as an administrator. Identifying that our student staff were struggling with their relationships with staff members and having difficulty naming their needs to their supervisors and staff members, Lisa and I felt that we could use our own experiences and student development theory to have a conversation about developmental partners. This presentation challenged us to make student development theory accessible and engaging, while helping RAs and LCAs reflect on their experiences over the last semester. For me, this type of presentation was out of the ordinary because it didn’t fall into my high-energy presentation style. In order to properly lead a reflection with our staff members, we would have to be vulnerable and share our experiences, while starting a dialogue among our students.

Russell Aivazian ePortfolio Communication Skills Reflection FormThis artifact is a presentation titled Being a Supportive Partner in the Developmental Journey, was presented for our Resident Assistant (RA)/Learning Community Assistant (LCA) Winter Training with Lisa Rogers. For me, this type of presentation was out of the ordinary because it didnt fall into my high-energy presentation style. In order to properly lead a reflection with our staff members, we would have to be vulnerable and share our experiences, while starting a dialogue among our students. This artifact showcases my development in the communication competencies because the topic area required me to work together with another staff member, engage an audience around the topics of student development, and facilitate a dialogue with the participants about their needs related to their position. As a result of the presentation, I have had conversations with many staff members about how to advocate for their own needs and how to communicate their developmental needs to peers and supervisors. This presentation showcased our ability to synthesize course content and make it accessible to a different audience. Additionally, this presentation challenged us to identify the needs of our students and find ways to address those needs and provide an environment for reflection.
