RECITATION (111 - 112)

In the name of Allah, the entirely Merciful, the especially Merciful.

اكانوا .111 قبلم شيء وحشرناعليهمكل لناإليهمالملئكةوكلمهمالموتى ولوأننانز

أكثرهميجهلون كن ـ هول أنيشاءاللـ ليؤمنواإل….And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to

them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not

believe unless Allah should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص was presenting the truth to people with complete evidences, with complete logical

proofs, but those who did not wish to believe kept arguing in different ways and rejected the message of

the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص. So over here رسولللا ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص is being comforted that do not worry if the people do not

believe, it is not because you are not doing your job properly, you are conveying properly, the fault is in

these people. Because the fact is that even if every proof is brought to them, even if the angels are sent

to them, the dead come back to them and tell them to believe in you, they will not believe in you.

Why?? Because a person who does not wish to believe, then no matter what is said to him, it will not

make a difference to him.

Why?? What's the reason?? The reason is that the truth is not defective.

The defect is where?? In their vision!!

The defect is where?? In their hearts!!

The defect is in the way they look at the truth.

Page 2: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

This is something that's understandable that if a person, his angle of vision is not correct, the way he

looks at things is not correct, and then what happens?? Even the most beautiful thing can seem distorted.

Like for example; if you have something very beautiful in front of you but you close your eyes a little bit

you could say that oh it's not that bright. Why?? Because your eyes are not fully open. You cannot see

the beautiful colors that are within it. So to recognize the truth it is necessary that we look at it correctly

also. We look at it without any bias. So these people, when they do not wish to believe, then what

happens?? Even the “حق”, even the ‘كلم’ of Allah, even the words of the most truthful man, what

happens?? They seem to be defective. So the Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص is comforted you are doing your job. If

the people do not understand it, it is their fault.

112. And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy, devils from mankind and Jinn,

inspiring to one another decorated speech in delusion….

Another reason for a person for not accepting the truth is what?? It is their bad company. And this

comes in the form of friends. But in reality these friends are who?? They are enemies. They are

misguiders. So over here we see that for every Prophet, there were opponents, there were enemies. Who

were these enemies?? ‘شياطين’; from among men and from among جن. What did they do? That they

spoke against what the prophet proclaimed. Whatever message the prophet conveyed, these opponents,

these شياطين, these devils, they spoke against it. And what happened? the way they presented their false

hood was very decorated, this seemed very beautiful, very attractive. So the people easily got influenced

by what the opponents of the messengers were saying and they did not pay heed to what the messengers

were saying.

So over here we need to see that if the words of the messenger, the words of the ‘Quran’ are evident, the

command that has come from Allah is clear but yet I do not see it being implemented in my life, what is

the reason? Is it because I am not willing to accept it? Or is it because my heart accepts it but I'm not

willing to bring about the change because of the company that I have, because of the people that I live

amongst, because of the people that I am influenced by. So we need to see that the friends who are

around us, the people who are around us:

What are they encouraging us to do?

What are they telling us to do?

What are they stopping us from?

What are they preventing us from?

Because our company has a very big effect on us. Our friends, they encourage us to either do something

or to leave something. So we see over here one of the major barriers, one of the major hurdles in

accepting the truth is what?? It is a bad company.

…..But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it. So leave them and that which they

invent

113. And it is for the hearts of those who disbelieve in the hereafter, will incline toward it….

Page 3: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

The fact is that there is a lot of negative speech, negative propaganda against the Quran, against رسول

And there are people who are very easily influenced by .عزوجلagainst the commands of Allah للاملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

this propaganda. And who are they? Allah says; it is the hearts of those who disbelieve in the hereafter.

They incline to such speech because the person who believes in the hereafter, then he knows that what

my Lord has said it is ‘حق’ even if the whole world contradicts it, the one who believes in the hereafter,

he knows that what the Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص has commanded, that is the best even if the whole world goes

against it, preaches against it. So it is only people who have no faith in the hereafter, who get affected by

this false speech.

قترفون Their hearts are inclined towards it and that they will be.…وليرضوهوليقترفواماهمم

satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

Because then they don't need to change themselves. It's like somebody is giving them a license. Go

ahead continue what you're doing; you don't need to change, so they're happy with it.

114. Say then is that other than Allah I should seek as judge. While it is He who has revealed to

you the book explained in detail…..

When Allah has revealed the truth in His book, then do we need to seek the truth somewhere else? No.

Do we need other people to validate that? No. Do we need scientific evidence? Do we need a statement

of Aristotle or some other famous people from history? Do we need their validation? No, we don't.

Why? Because what has come from Allah, THAT IS the truth.

…..And those, to whom We previously gave the scripture, know that it is sent down from your

Lord in truth.

So never be among the doubters, never entertain doubts about the Quran, about the ‘حق’ that Allah has

revealed.

And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth ..… وتمتكلمتربكصدقاوعدل .115

and in fairness.

The word of your Lord; how is it? It is complete. It is perfect.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“There is nothing that takes you to ‘جنة’ except that I have commanded you with it and there is nothing

that takes you to Hell fire except that I have forbidden you from it.”

So the message that Allah has sent, the word of Allah, or the teachings of رسولللاملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, how are they?

They are complete. They are perfect in truth. Meaning there is not even a fraction of falsehood in the

book of Allah. There is not even a fraction of a lie of an error in the book of Allah. It is completely

factual. It is completely true. One hundred percent accurate!

And the commands that the Quran gives, they are also fair. They are based on utmost justice.… وعدل

and fairness. We think fairness is that each person should be treated equally. But that is not fairness.

Think about it; A child, is he treated the same way as an adult? No, there's a huge difference. Haven't

you ever seen that when you go somewhere with your child, people don't even look at you. Immediately

their eyes go where? On the children! It's as if you don't even exist and then when they're done greeting

the children then they say how are you? OK? And then they move on right. Why?? Because each is

treated differently given who they are. A child is cuter, more attractive, more innocent, more loving.

Isn't that so? So this is why, what happens, each person is given the حق that they deserve.

Likewise we see that amongst women for example; when you look at all women, all women are not the

same! There's a woman who is nursing, another woman who is pregnant, another woman who is

married, another woman who is single, another woman who is sick! If a blanket statement was given

that all women have to fast. Would it be possible? No! Allah سبحانه و تعالى has given us commands

which are based on عدل. Not equality but what? عدل/justice. and justice does not mean sameness.

Justice means that each is given what they can do. Each is given what they are deserving of. Each is

given the responsibilities that they CAN carry out, the obligations that they CAN fulfill. So in the Quran

any command whether it is with respect to women, or it is with respect to marriage, or divorce or مهر, or

inheritance; any law which is given in the Quran, any punishment, anything! Remember! It is based on

absolute justice! Fairness!

للكلماته مبد .There is none who can change, [who can] alter the words of Allah..… ل

The law that Allah Has revealed, it is unchangeable and unalterable. We are no ones to change it. We do

not have the authority to edit it, to review it, to revise it. Whose words need to be revised? Whose book

needs to be revised? A new edition has to come out every now and then? Whose? The book that is of

who? Of people!! Why?? Because their knowledge is limited!! What happens? A research is done, a

book is written. After a couple of years, that research is proven wrong so another book has to be revised

and it needs to be changed. But Allah

ميعالعليم .He hears all He knows all.… وهوالس

and so his words are perfect and complete.

116. And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of

Allah….

So what principle are we being taught over here? The criteria for truth is not the majority. Just because

the majority is doing something, that doesn't mean that it is the truth. What is the truth? What is it that

Page 5: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

منا تقبل ربنا Page 5

we have to live by? What is it that we have to adhere to? What? What do we learn? It is what Allah has

revealed not what the majority of the people are upon. So Allah warns us, that if you start following the

majority of the people thinking that they are right, they must be doing something right, there must be

something right about it which is why the whole world is doing it. No! Allah says if you follow them

they will mislead you from the way of Allah. Why?? Because the majority of the people are not upon

the truth; what are they upon then? What are they following??

الظن .…They follow not except assumption..… إنيتبعونإل

They're not following the truth. They're not following facts. What are they following?? They're

following assumptions. Assumptions! Meaning they haven't seen with their eyes, they haven't heard

with their ears, they don't have factual knowledge. They have found traces of some things, or they think

that this is how life is or this is what life is about. It's all based on what?? Assumptions!! And when it

comes to assumptions, when it comes to theories, there's a huge possibility that it be true, and there's

also a huge possibility that it be absolutely false. Isn't that so? So then when there is one thing which

might be false and then there is another thing which is a hundred percent true, which one is it that we

should go for? That which has the possibility of error? Or that which is free of error? Which one?? That

which is free of error! So Allah’s words, His command, what is it? It is:

وتمتكلمتربكصدقاوعدل

And the words of the people, the ways of the people, what are they based upon?

يخرصون وإنهمإل .And they are the only falsifying, they are only guessing ..… الظن

So what do we learn in this آية? That the correct thing to do is not what has become common in people.

The correct thing to do, the right thing to do, is not what has become common in people. Disease! Can

disease spread in people? Can it become common? Yes! Now if disease has become common, does that

mean that we should also make sure that we catch that disease? No way! Crime can become common in

people, just because everybody's committing some crime, doesn't mean we should also do the same

thing. No! I mean it seems ridiculous when you think of these examples, but that's exactly what happens

in our lives. We think if five people are doing something, I should also do it! Right? If everybody is

doing something, it's become so common, it must be OK. No! That doesn't make it OK! It doesn't make

it good! What is good? That which Allah has told us is good. So our criterion is not the majority. What

the majority is upon. Because majority is not authority. No matter how much we think like that.

But sadly, what happens? We think that what everybody is doing that is right. If you look at the

prophets of Allah, Ibrahim (a.s.) (we learnt about his story in the previous Ayahs in the previous juzz),

was he the majority in his nation? No! He was the only one initially right? And then what happened?

He was firm upon it. Musa (a.s.), we learnt about Musa (a.s.) him and his brother Haroon (a.s.) even

though they were amongst بنىاسرائيل, what happened? Musa (a.s.) made دعا to Allah that O Allah! I

have no power over these people. I only have power over myself and my brother that's it! So separate

between me and my people. I cannot stay with them anymore. Imagine Musa (a.s.) being amongst a so-

Page 6: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

منا تقبل ربنا Page 6

called Muslim nation, he doesn't feel like he belongs to them anymore. Why? Because the بنىاسرائيل outright refused to follow the command of Allah.

So what do we see? That the truth is what Allah has revealed and the thing is that we have to follow the

truth. Why? Because it has come from Allah سبحانه و تعالى. We should not even do something in the

name of religion just because everybody's doing it! You understand! We should not practice something

thinking it to be part of the religion just because everybody's doing it. Always think; has Allah

commanded of this? Has Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص instructed of this? If they have, then yes I will do it and if they

haven't then I will not do it!

We learnt that in the grave when people will be tested, the hypocrite, when he will be asked that who is

your Lord? Who is your messenger? When he will be asked these questions, what will he say? He will

say I do not know but I heard the people saying something and so I said the same also. I heard the

people saying something, so I also said the same thing! So what do we learn? That when it comes to the

matter of the دين, we have to use our mind. We HAVE to use our mind! We don't follow the majority!

What do we follow? The Quran and the سنة. Even if it has become the practice of a few people. A few

people! That is حق! And forever it will remain حق!

And yes it's very difficult that you are the only one doing something or one of the few people who are

doing something but what happens? Eventually Allah will strengthen you. The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص in مكة for

thirteen years, the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص tried so hard but how many people embraced Islam? Very few. Very

few! And then even when he did هجرةto Medina again there were people who became Muslim but not

everybody. The bulk of people that embraced Islam was when? After the Treaty of حديبية, and

specifically after the conquest of مكة. That is when the people came and accepted Islam. So, initially

what happens, when you see the truth, you recognize it you want to follow it, you have these fears; what

are those fears: Oh what are people going to say?? Or everybody does things differently. Still, when it's

the truth; adopt it! When it's the truth, do with it! And Allah will strengthen you!

رب ك إن .117 Indeed! Your Lord! He is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is

most knowing of the rightly guided.

118. so eat that meat upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in

His verses.

Even when it comes to the matter of food, don't just eat what you want to! Don't just eat what

everybody's eating! Think; is it is حلل? Is it طيب? Is it the meat on which the name of Allah was

pronounced? Is this the food that Allah permits? If it is not, then don't eat it even if the whole world is

consuming it. Even if they show you research after research, that it's good for you, you can have it. It is

safe to eat. Now you see there're many things which are for instance حرام in our religion, they’re

forbidden, but then what happens? We find out that they're safe, they're safe to do. There isn't much

harm in it. But even though people say it's safe to do, still there is going to be harm in it. There are

dangers to it. Anything that Allah has forbidden and people say it's OK, do it anyway and it has become

very common amongst people. Remember! it is still wrong. Even if these things have entered our

books, our studies, our classrooms, when Allah has said it is wrong then IT IS wrong. It is not right.

119. And why should you not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned.

Well He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are

compelled and indeed do many people lead others astray through their own inclinations without

knowledge…..

People; they lead others astray without any knowledge. What do they say? ….but I think its fine … but

I like to do it. Everybody enjoys it… no it's not about what we like! It’s not about what we enjoy! It's

not about what has become acceptable, what has become the norm, what has become very common!

No! What is it that matters? Does Allah like it? Does Allah approve of it?

…..Indeed your Lord; He is most Knowing of the transgressors.

ثموباطنه .120 And leave what is apparent of sin and what is concealed.… وذرواظاهرال

thereof….

Leave all types of sins, whether they are open or they are secret; whether they are public or they are

private. Why? Because whether we do it openly or secretly, who’s watching? Allah is watching … and

who has forbidden it? Allah has forbidden it. So when He has forbidden it, then no matter what state

we are in, no matter where we are, no matter what we are engaged in, then we cannot commit that sin!

We cannot disobey our Lord!

ثموباطنه …Leave all sins, open and public … وذرواظاهرال

ثمسيجزونبماكانوايقترفون الذينيكسبونال …Indeed those who earn blame for sin..… إن

Meaning those who commit sin, they know that it is sin, they do it anyway.

…..They will be recompensed for that which they use to commit.

This is something that we forget; we think commit a sin… Forget it… and it's gone! No! When it's

been committed what does Allah Say?

.They will be recompensed for that which they use to commit.… سيجزونبماكانوايقترفون

Whether it is done secretly or publicly Allah knows! And when Allah knows, then if a person has not

repented, if he has not made amends, then Allah will punish that person.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص was asked about good and bad; virtue and vice. He said:

“Virtue is a kind disposition” and vice is what? “Evil… Sin…الثم…. it is that which bothers you in

your heart and you don't want that people should come to know about it.”

الثمماحاكفيصدرك

It is that which bothers you in your heart and you don't want that people should find out about it. So

what happens, because we don't want people to find out about it, what do we do? We do it secretly! We

do it only when we are at home! We do it perhaps only on our phone! In our rooms! But what do we

see? Even if a person has done it in that privacy, Allah knows about it! So what we do secretly and

with fear of people; than that is wrong. Because you see sometimes we're not a hundred percent sure…

is this OK... We're not a hundred percent sure is this right… is this the right thing to do… is it right is it

wrong? Is it حلل, is it حرام? Is it a sin or is it not? Ask yourself: would you do it in front of other

people? If you did it before other people, would they accept it? Would they accept it?? And if they don't

accept it, then that means it is not OK to do! Because the definition of sin is what? You don't want

people to find out about it! You don't want them to know that you do it, and this is ايمان; that a person’s

inside out is the same. His private and public life, they are the same. And what is hypocrisy?? That

there is contradiction. There's a huge difference between private and public; between inside and outside;

that is نفاق; that a person is one thing on the inside and another on the outside.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“Sin is that in which neither the heart finds peace nor does it feel at ease.”

Meaning when a person does it, then what happens? You don't have the sense of calmness and happiness

in your heart. No! You are unhappy. Has it ever happened that you do something and it keeps bothering

you, bothering you, bothering you? The thought just keeps coming back into your mind. So when it's

coming back into your mind again and again bothering you that means it was a sin and when a person

does it, then the heart does not feel at ease.

Even if those who give verdicts, give you a verdict!

What does it mean by that? Because sometimes we're doing something wrong and we have a فتوة; like

literally an official فتوة! People have it. Or five people are telling them yes it’s OK yes its good. No

problem. Do it! Even if people are telling you that it's OK, when your heart does not feel that ease with

it then what does it mean? It is wrong! So don't do it! leave it. Because many times when we want to do

something wrong we will find supporters, isn’t that so? We will find people who will encourage us. If

it's not our family, then who is it? It's our friends! If it's not our friends, even if they leave you then who

is still with us? There’s people, you know the global community, right? Over the internet you will

always find supporters for anything. Isn't that true? Even for the craziest ideas, on the internet you'll

find supporters for everything and anything. So the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص told us that if your heart does not feel

at ease and if the whole world gives you the verdict, then it's wrong don't do it!

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

إتقالمحارمتكنأعبدالناس“Be on guard against the unlawful….”

What is unlawful, be on guard against it. Keep away from it. And when you will do that:

“…. you shall be the most worshiping among the people”

Meaning you will be the most subservient, the most submissive of all the servants when you leave what

Allah has forbidden. So leave all sins; ظاهر and باطن. Why? Because at the end, Allah will punish

those who commit sin. Even if people support? Yes! Even if people encourage? Yes! And if Allah

punishes then the support of the people, the encouragement of the people, how long can it help a

person? How long can it save a person? Not forever! Just for some time!

I mean think about it, the مشركين of مكة, how much they opposed رسولللاملسو هيلع هللا ىلصYou know the incident

of صلححديبية? I hope انشآءللا you start سيرة very soon, but the incident of صلححديبية, it’s so beautiful

because we see that when the Muslims went to مكة to do hajj, they camped outside, they went from a

different road because some of the مشركينمكة had blocked the roads with their weapons to ensure the

Muslims would not enter مكة. Now what happened is the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلصchanged the route, he went from

somewhere else to avoid that confrontation and he's camped outside of مكة and the مشركين inside مكة are not willing to let the Muslims in at all, at any cost. And so what happens? One leader comes in, he

volunteers. The leader of ثقيف from الطائف, he comes in and he says let me try to solve this dispute.

Another person from the tribes that lived outside of Makah he volunteered he said let me come and

resolve this dispute. People were volunteering to resolve that dispute. But the مشركين were not willing

to give up and what happened? …they lost the support of one group after another. They lost the support

of one group after another. So what happens is initially you feel like you have a lot of support. Yes I'm

doing something wrong and everybody is encouraging me. Everybody's helping me I feel really good.

But on the inside the heart is still pinching, it's still telling you don’t do it. Gradually a person loses that

support and when he goes to see Allah, then he will go all alone by himself.

,And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned.… ولتأكلوا .121

(at the time of slaughter) for indeed it is grave disobedience…..

It is a sin to eat of that meat on which the name of Allah has not been mentioned at the time of

slaughter. Well, what about the meat of the people of the book? Even that meat! Why is it that it has

been made permissible? Because they are meant to say the name of Allah on it and if they do not say the

name of Allah on it then it is not permissible for us. Just as if a Muslim wants to offer you some meat

and he says to you this is حرام meat, would you eat it? Would you take it? No! What if a Muslim is

giving it to you? Would you take it then? No! Why? Because even if it's coming from a Muslim, if the

name of Allah was not mentioned it's not حلل. So even when it comes from a person from the اهل

.حلل if the name of Allah was not mentioned, it is not ,الكتاب

Allah says: وإنهلفسق …… it is a sin….!!

Can you imagine eating something wrong, eating something that's not allowed what is that? A sin! We

can commit sin even in the matter of eating; even when it comes to food.

PART - B

AL-AN'AM (122-137)

And is one who was… أومنكانميتافأحييناهوجعلنالهنورايمشيبهفيالناس .122

dead….

How was he dead? He was dead because of his disbelief. He was dead because of his ignorance.

….. And We gave him life….

What kind of life? The life of the ايمان, the life of knowledge!

….And We made for him light by which to walk among the people. Can this person be like the

one who is in darkness never to emerge there from….

No!! one person is in light and the other person is in darkness, Can they both be the same? Never!

They can never be the same. They're completely different. Why? Because their thinking is different,

their actions are different; their thoughts are different, very different. So those who have been given the

Quran and those to whom the light of Quran has not yet reached, can they be the same? No, they can

never be the same!

So isn't it necessary that people who do not yet know the Quran, they should be told about the Quran?

Should they not be informed so that even their thinking is enlightened, their lives are enlightened, they

also have faith; they also have life of their hearts!!

Do they not deserve that also? Yes! Allah is the one who guides people but remember that Allah has

made us ةوسطا is that which is in the middle; a link. So we are in the middle, we وسط ? وسط Who is .أم

are link between people and Allah. Meaning if they want guidance, then where is it that they will find

it? They will find it with the المانة; with the trust that Allah has given to us, and what is that المانة?

THIS QURAN!

So isn't it necessary for us to take this light forward? Tell me? Is it not necessary? It is, right? Just think

about it, if we are content inside, we find peace at times of trouble because of this Quran that Allah has

given us. If our doubts about Allah, about the دين, they have disappeared since we have come to know

of the Quran, then do other people not deserve the same thing? Do they not deserve the same thing?

Just think about it how was your life before you knew the Quran? Did you have unanswered questions?

Did you have worries? And problems? And doubts? And uncertainties? What happened, gradually as

you come to know of the Quran, as you learned about the Quran, those fears those worries those

questions they go away. Just like when a person is in darkness, is he afraid? He’s afraid to even take one

step forward. But when there is light, can you move around? You can run! You become fearless! So

Page 12: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

other people deserve that also. So as you come here make sure that you also call others. Encourage

them to come and listen to Quran also.

يعملونواكانماللكافرينزينكذلك …..Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that

which they were doing.

So what do we see in this ayah? That Allah is the one who guides. So, whenever we need clarity,

whenever we need to deepen our understanding of anything, who is it that we need to ask? We need to

ask Allah for that guidance, we need to ask Him for this light.

123. And thus We have placed within every city, the greatest of its criminals to conspire there

in…

Another force that prevents people from حق is what? The influential people of that society! This doesn't

mean that all people who have influence in society, there are evils but many times what they're calling

people to is not the Quran and سنة. What they're calling people to is not controlling their desires. What

are they calling people to? What do they call people to? Just do what you want. Right? Just do it

anyway. You live only once. Right? That just to do it! Have fun! Just have fun!

I mean it's amazing even if you just accidentally hear the lyrics of some songs, it's surprising what they

are calling people to, what they are promoting, what they are even encouraging in people. I took your

girl but I don't feel bad I don't know there's …. أستغفرللا ….. I was in a store the other day and it was

just going on and on and on and I was like how sad you took somebody’s girl and you don't even feel

bad about it. I don't feel bad that she likes me I don't know what that guy was saying but he was saying

it over and over and over again like at least he said it fifty times. What are they promoting? What is

being promoted generally if you think about it people who are at the top? I am not saying government

leaders; any person who has influence, what is he promoting generally? Is it حيا? Is it modesty? Is it that

we should become servants to Allah? No! Become a slave to your desires! Isn't that?

Every voice is glorified; it is made to look so beautiful and attractive. Filth is made to look attractive.

So over here Allah is telling us to open our eyes and ears. Many times these people at the top, who are

they? They’re the greatest of the criminals and they lead people astray. So don't just follow blindly.

…. but they conspired not except against themselves and they perceive it not.

Meaning how long will they enjoy this freedom? So, we see that there will always be people who will

oppose the truth instead of supporting it. You will always find people who oppose the truth. They're at

a position where they can influence others, but instead of supporting the truth, what are they doing?

Opposing it! I mean isn't it amazing you find out there is a class at University about Islamic history for

example; you are like wow! Islamic history! Quran! Hadith! and when you go sit there, and if you read

the book and you listen to the lectures then what happens? You leave with more doubts and questions

than faith. So this is something that you’ll find everywhere in the world. People with authority, many

times you will find them opposing the truth so don't get influenced by them. Use your MIND, use your

reason, use the حق that Allah has given to you!

Page 13: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

124. And when a sign comes to them, they say; never will we believe until we are given like that

which was given to the messengers of Allah. Allah is most knowing of where He places His

message. They will afflict those who committed crimes debasement before Allah and severe

punishment for what they used to conspire.

They’re very arrogant. Allah will humiliate them.

Ibn-e-Abbas (r.a.) said: but Allah observe the hearts of His servants, and He found the heart of

Mohammed ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص to be the best. So He chose him and sent him with his message.

Allah chose prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص because of the purity of his heart. So Allah knows who to give prophet hood

to.

سلمصدرهيشرحيهديهأنللايردفمن .125 لل .…So whoever Allah wants to guide, He

expands his heart to contain Islam…

Despite all of these opposing forces, these pressures; external pressures, this darkness, this misguidance,

Allah still guides some people to the truth! Allah still guides them because they want to be guided. So

when they want to be guided then what happens? One layer of darkness is dispelled after the other, is

removed and in that darkness even, in that atmosphere where in those circumstances where there is so

much opposition to the truth, still Allah guides them to the truth.

You know a man came to مكة and he was told there's a crazy man in here, don't listen to him. So he said;

well! I'm a doctor, I can help him, I can cure him, and I’ll go do some الرقيه let me see what his problem

is. So he went to see the prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص and he asked him what do you say? What’s your problem?

Meaning what's wrong with you. And so the prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص recited some Quran to him and he said:

“ أنأشهد إلهل داأنأشهدوللاإل رسولهوعبدهمحم ”

You see there’s that well wishing for people, right! The heart was good, and what happened? Allah

guided him even though there were so much external pressures…. “Don't even go to this man”….

“Don’t even listen to him”….

So Allah guides these people. Allah guides some people. So if Allah has given us the ability to sit right

now with the Book of Allah, who should we be grateful to? Allah سبحانه و تعالى. Think about it aren't

there so many other things that we could have been doing right now? So many things right! and if you

go to the mall right now, probably won't find a parking spot, even though it's only eleven thirty in the

morning. Isn't that so? when you go to, maybe, even Wonderland today, despite the rain, you'll see it

busy. Isn’t it? I'm not saying these things are حرام. Don't get me wrong. What I'm saying is that there

could be so many other things that we could have been doing right now but Allah gave us the ability on

a Sunday morning, on a SUNDAY morning! Not a Monday morning, Tuesday morning… Sunday

morning! To come and sit and read Quran! Sit with the book Allah! We could have been sitting at Tim

Horton’s, we could've been sitting at the back, and we could have been using our phone. But if Allah

gave us the ability to direct our full attention to the book of Allah, sit with it, look at it, read it, right?

Then this is nothing but Allah’s favor. This is nothing but Allah’s gift on us.

Page 14: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

So let us be grateful because: لزيدنكمشكرتملئن …. “If you are grateful then I will increase for

you”…..

...And whoever He wants to misguide, He makes his chest tight and constricted…

The person whom Allah does not wish to guide then what happens to him?? As Islam is mentioned, as

Quran is mentioned, even though you may be reading the book listening to the same speech, what

happens?? The heart feels tight and narrow, so constricted, so uncomfortable, each time the Quran is

mentioned, each time Allah is mentioned, each time جنة is mentioned and نار is mentioned, they feel so

constricted as though he was climbing into the sky and going up is something very difficult to do…. isn't

it? When you have to climb stairs, and not just one flight of stairs, several, then what happens? Your

chest begins to feel tight. Likewise there are some people who feel suffocated when they have to sit

with the book of Allah, when they have to read the book of Allah they just can't wait to put it down and

go and do something else.

....Thus Allah plays defilement upon those who do not believe.

So those people who believe will desire guidance. Who willingly seek it, then Allah gives it to them.

So here we need to see: Allah has given me the ability to sit here but how am I sitting? Happily or be

grudged? By force or do I choose to? Do I choose to read the Quran? Do I choose to listen to it and

reflect on it?

said that when Allah instilled the love of Islam in my heart I came to the prophet (r.a) عمروبنالعاص

.to you بيعة and I said Stretch out your hand so that I can give ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

When Allah instilled the love of Islam… in my heart….. Because he knew it to be true from before…

he knew it, but what was preventing him? These external pressures! There's a dislike for the truth so

sometimes it happens that we know what the Quran says we know what Allah wants us to do. Ask us

‘Fiqh’, ask us any question, we know the answers but when it comes to our actions….. Missing! ….

when it comes to the State of the heart…. Very different! There is no love for the book of Allah. That

love is missing. We need to ask Allah for that love that Ya Allah! You brought me so close. You grant

me love also, for your ‘كلم’.

Allah will be their friend… وهووليهم

.because of what they do.… بماكانوايعملون

Do you ever feel alone sometimes? Alone? Has it ever happened that you go somewhere maybe for an

exam somewhere or you go to do some work at some government office or something and you're the

only one with the حجاب …. you're the only one….. Maybe in your classroom… you feel alone right?

Now at that time, what happens? You feel like; “I’m gonna die…. you feel scared, you feel nervous.

Everybody's looking. nobody's doing it. You think is it really فرض. Then you start thinking and

doubting yourself; “am I even making the right choice”. Is there some allowance somewhere because

you feel alone? What does Allah say?

..... those who prefer Him then Allah will be their friend! He will give them the home of security. The

home of peace where there's no fear.

In this دنيا no matter how many friends you have, do you have fears? Yes! I think you have more fears

when you have more friends. Why?.... “Why did you say this to me??”… “How come you didn't call

me??”… And why did you do this and why didn't you do that….. Right? It happens, that the more

people you know the more problems you have to deal with. I'm not saying be antisocial. Don't get me

wrong. But I'm just saying that in this world no matter how beautiful relationship you could be in, it

always has its negatives. The only place of peace and security is جنة. So do anything to get there.

Sacrifice anything to get there. Do whatever Allah has ordered just to get in there. Once you get in

there; you're fine you're good.

128. And mention O Prophet! the day when He will gather them together and say: “O company

Lord! Some of us made use of others and we have now reached our terms which You appointed

for us. He will say: “the fire is your residence”…..

See the people who cooperate with each other in sin, what is their residence? Fire! So even if the whole

world supports you in doing something wrong it's not worth it. It’s not worth it! Why? Because the end

residence will be fire.

…. wherein you will abide eternally except for what Allah wills. Indeed your Lord is wise and

129. And thus will We make. Some of the wrongdoers allies of others for what they used to earn.

Because a person seeks people who are like minded; people who think like him, who act like him, who

have the same priorities like him. So in this world what happens? A person finds those who will

support him. So just because we have supporters in what we're doing it doesn't make it right. It doesn't

make what we're doing right. What is it that tells us whether our actions are right or wrong? Allah’s

word!

والنسالجنيمعشر .130 ….“O Company of jinn and mankind! Did there not come to you

messengers from among you relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this day

of yours?” They will say: “we bear witness against ourselves” and the worldly life had deluded

them and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

Right now it's very difficult to accept one's wrong action even if the Quran is shown as an evidence.

Even if the words of the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص are shown as proof. What happens? It’s very difficult for some

people to accept that they are wrong, to acknowledge their mistake. And let’s think about ourselves. It's

very difficult to acknowledge our mistakes but remember if we don't acknowledge them today, if we

don't fix them today, then tomorrow there's no getting away from them.

A person will confess: we bear witness against ourselves.

Why did they do this wrong?

.... because the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that

they were disbelievers.

131. That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing while their people

were unaware.

People are always warned they are given knowledge first. So have we been given knowledge of the

Quran? Of the حق? Yes! Now the test begins. What do we do:

ادرجات ولكل .132 م ابغافل ربكوماعملوام يعملونعم ….And for all are degrees from

what they have done and your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

درجات ولكل ….Each person has a rank…. According to what? According to “ ا عملوامم ” ….

According to what they have done. So each person’s status is according to his actions. What is our rank

before Allah سبحانه و تعالى? We do not know, we don't know where we stand but what we can see is the

deeds that we are committing! The deeds, the actions that we are committing, the words that we are

saying, because ultimately our status is determined by our actions…. “ ا عملوامم ”… and these actions

that we do…

ابغافل ربكوما يعملونعم …. Allah is not unaware of what we do.

Page 17: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

منا تقبل ربنا Page 17

So what is it that we should be concerned about? Our actions! You know it's like the more stuff you

can put on your resume, the greater you are…. Right? The more stuff you can put on your resume, the

greater you are, the more worth you have. So what is our worth near Allah? Is it determined by the

money that we have made? Is it determined by the amount of makeup that we put on our face? Or by

the kind of clothes that we are wearing? Or by the kind of food that we can cook? No! It is determined

by the deeds that we perform, the actions that we fill our lives with, that we perform in our lives. Our

worth near Allah is determined by our عمل! Our deeds! And Allah is not unaware of what we do!

So what do you see here that درجة; a person's rank near Allah increases with what? With actions. So the

closer we want to be to Allah سبحانه و تعالى, the more we have to perform good deeds.

Allah says in قدسىحديث that a servant draws nearer to Allah… How?.... by performing the actions that

Allah has made obligatory upon him. So for example; when a person performs the five prayers

regularly, Is he drawing closer to Allah? Has his درجة increased? Yes! Now when a person fasts in the

month of Ramadhan has the درجة increased? Yes. And then when a person moves on from the

obligatory to the voluntary; meaning he's performing the فرض but in addition to that he's also

performing extra good deeds. For example; صدقة, is it ‘فرض? Is it an obligation to give in charity? No!

But when a person does it then is he drawing closer to Allah. Is rank increasing? Yes it is! Don't we

want to feel important? We all do, we all want that our worth should be more. This is why we expect;

we want that people should respect us, that they should pay attention to us, that they should

acknowledge us, they should appreciate our efforts, where at least they should reciprocate. Isn't it so?

But remember! Sometimes you go crazy trying to please people but they never reciprocate. They never

even say a word of thanks. But when a person does something for the sake of Allah sincerely, then his

rank near Allah becomes higher. So let's forget about what people can give us for what we do and let's

be concerned about our rank that will be increased near Allah because of the good deeds that we do.

“ ادرجات ولكل م ابغافل ربكوماعملوام يعملونعم ” ….Allah is not unaware of what people do….

because sometimes what happens, you do something that nobody even notices it. Nobody even notices

it! Has it ever happened with you that you try so hard to do something, to prepare something, to make

something so beautiful, be so well in time in the best way and you bring your project to school and the

teacher even forgets to ask you about it? Or for instance; at home your mom never asked you but you

unloaded the dishwasher and she comes home and she starts loading the dishwasher and she's like: “Oh

did I do the dishwasher”…. And she does not notice or appreciate you for doing it. It happens because

they're human beings, they forget. They cannot even keep track of what they're doing than how can they

keep track of what you're doing. We cannot even keep track of the blessings, the gifts that Allah is

giving us. How can they keep track of the blessings or the gifts that we are giving to people? They

cannot! It's beyond their ability. So who is it that we should expect our reward from?

Allah سبحانه و تعالى!

So let's not feed off of praise from people in order to continue doing good. Let's feed off of what? Of

this realization that when I have done something He knows about it! He knows and I want to deposit my

deed with Him because I did it for Him.

Page 18: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

حمةذوالغنيوربك .133 الر …And your Lord is the free of need, the possessor of mercy….

Meaning He does not need you to obey Him. When you obey Him, you don't make him greater. Who do

you elevate? Yourself! Who do you benefit? Yourself! Who do you enrich? Yourself! because Allah is;

the Possessor of Mercy. So He has given us a chance to do something in ;”ذوالرحمة“ and He is ”غني“

our lives. He is Merciful.

If He wills, He can do away with you and give succession after you to .… إنيشأيذهبكم…

whomsoever He pleases. He wills just as He produced you from the descendants of another

people.

So Allah is “غني”…. Even from punishing His servants. He does not benefit by rewarding them. He

does not benefit by punishing them. He does not need to reward us or punish us. When we are rewarded

or when we are punished; it’s because of us, because we gain or we lose. We benefit or we lose.

Anas عنهللارضي said: the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص saw an old man walking and he was being supported by his

two sons so the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص asked about him that what's wrong with him. Why is he walking like that.

Everything ok with him? So the people said that this man had vowed to go on foot to the كعبة; meaning

he would not at all sit on a horse or a camel or a donkey, nothing. He would just walk and this is

something that is difficult to do and clearly when he did it, an old man, what happened to him? He was

unable to walk. So he was taking the support of two of his sons so that he could walk. Now he's putting

himself in hardship and he's also putting his children in hardship.

So the prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

لغني نفسههذاتعذيبعنللاإن Allah is not in need of this old man's torturing himself.

Allah does not need it that this man should torture himself. We don't need to torture ourselves in order

to please Allah. What do we need to do? Do what Allah has asked us to do. And when we do it then

who do we benefit? Ourselves! When we leave it, who do we harm? Ourselves!

ماتوعدونلت .134 .…Indeed what you are promised is coming… إن

So what do we see? That once we know the truth, once we get to know what Allah has ordered, then

what is necessary? عمل ….Action!

….. and you are going to know who will have succession in the home indeed the wrongdoers will

136. And the مشركين; the polytheists, assigned to Allah from that which He created crop and

livestock a share…..

According to what? According to their own whims;

….. and they say this is for Allah by their claim and this is for our partners whom they associate

with Allah but what is for their partners does not reach Allah while what is for Allah, this reaches

their partners. Evil is that which they rule.

We see that the مشركين; they used to allot shares of their produce, a portion for their gods; a portion for

each God. So one portion was dedicated to one idol another portion dedicated to another idol and one

portion they would also dedicate to Allah سبحانه و تعالى. Now what would happen, if ever the shares, the

portions, they fell short, they ran out of it and there were still one or two idols left, what would they do?

They would take from Allah’s portion, meaning the portion that they had given to Allah and they would

give it to those idols. But if ever they fell short in the portion of Allah, they would never ever take from

an idol and give it to Allah. This is something that they came up with and it seems very ridiculous but

think about it; when we're also short on something, when we have a limited amount of something then

whose حق, whose right is it that we leave first and foremost? Generally who's right is it that we leave?

Allah’s right.

If you had guests over and your kitchen was a mess and its midnight by the time they leave and you're

one of those women who believe, firmly believe that the kitchen must be spick and span before I rest my

head. Then what will happen? At twelve o'clock midnight also what is the woman doing? She is going to

sacrifice her sleep to clean the kitchen right? And if she hasn't prayed then what will she do? Just pray

!فرض‘4

The حديث you learned that the woman who performs her فرض and then she fasts in ‘Ramadhan’ and she

is obedient to her husband then she can enter جنة from any gate. I am so good to my husband right … so

I can just pray فرض leave my سنة leave my وتر. Who’s حق is it that we did neglect? Allah’s ‘حق! We

don't cut down on our sleep, we don't cut down on our fun, we don't cut down on anything. What do we

cut down on? Worship! Servitude to Allah سبحانهوتعالى

Allah says:

….evil is that which they rule.

We have limited amount of money also. Sometimes what happens? Money has to be given for, you

know, house expenses, food, etc. But when money has to be given for some fees for an Islamic course:

“I don't have it”. When a book has to be bought: “we don't have it”. We can buy five bottles of Coke

easily but one book we find difficult to purchase. I ran out of money. I ran out of money. Why? Why

do we not prioritize the حق of Allah? When Allah gives us so much generously, why can we not obey

him generously? Why can we not give back also, show some gratitude for the love that He shows, us for

the generosity and kindness that He shows us day in and day out, Constantly …?

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that Allah says:

I am the best of all who are associated to me….

Meaning all these partners that they ascribe to me, I am still the best! Allah is still the perfect

one!…..Whoever does an action while associating partners with me then it is for the partners and not for

me.

…..So O people! Make your actions sincere for Allah for indeed Allah does not accept any action unless

it is sincerely done for Him and do not say this is for Allah and this is for our relatives whereas nothing

of it is for Allah.

Meaning when a person has these kind of intentions that; oh yes sure maybe Allah will also be pleased

with me if I do this. No! make your intention sincerely for Allah سبحانه و تعالى and give Him His حق.

137. And likewise to many of the polytheists, their partners have made to them pleasing the

killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion

in their religion and if Allah had willed they would not have done so. So leave them and that

which they invent.

Killing children….. Just imagine a child…. killing a child. It's a crime. I mean even the heart doesn't

accept it. Even if the child is in the womb; have you ever seen a woman being so happy about the baby

that’s still in her womb? Passing her hand over and over the stomach right? As if she's holding the

child…. and other people also:” can I touch your belly?” “Can I just feel the baby?”... The child cannot

even be seen but still look at the love that people have for children. So killing a child, whether the child

is still in the womb or has been given birth to, this is a crime! But yet we see this evil action has been

made OK by some people, isn't it? It has been made OK, it’s considered fine. Remember that killing

children is a major sin.

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص was asked: “what is the greatest sin in the sight of Allah?”

He said:

“that you set up a rival unto Allah though He alone created you.

The person said: “Indeed that is a great sin. What is next”?

AL-AN'AM 138-165

138. And they say these animals and crops are forbidden. No one may eat from them except

whom we will buy their claim and there are those camels whose backs are forbidden by them and

those upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned….

So all their self-made laws are being refuted over here. Allah says:

….All of this is an invention of untruth about Allah…..

Meaning they make these things up in the name of religion and they say: “Oh we please God through

this”. And likewise in Islam also so many things have been invented and when people practice them

they say that they're doing it to please Allah. What's the evidence that Allah will be pleased through

that?

….He will punish them for what they were inventing…. يفترونكانوابماسيجزيهم

Remember! Inventing something in the religion is a crime. It’s a crime. It’s a sin. Because then a person

is ascribing a lie to Allah. He's saying Allah ordered this, where as Allah did not order that.

139. And this is[they say] what is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males and

forbidden to our females…..

Again a self-made law

…. But if it is born dead then all of them have shares therein. He will punish them for their

description. Indeed He is wise and knowing.

140. Those will have lost who kill their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited

what Allah had provided for them inventing untruths about Allah. They have gone astray and

were not rightly guided.

They have gone astray by inventing these things, by just following their forefathers in this error blindly.

Allah says they will suffer a loss. They have suffered loss already.

141. And He it is who causes gardens to grow, both trellised and untrellised, and palm trees, and

crops of different kinds of food, and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar.

Page 23: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

Look at the variety of what Allah has created. In the previous juzz also we learnt about many things that

Allah سبحانهوتعالى has provided us with and we are encouraged to reflect on these things that if we want

to learn about Allah, what is it that we need to do? Reflect on His names and attributes and secondly

reflect on His creation also. So over here we are being taught to reflect on these things that Allah has

created.

Allah has caused gardens to grow; different types of gardens trellised and untrellised; Meaning plants

that grow, that climb and other plants that don't climb, Vines and also plants that are like trees and palm

trees. You know how big the seed of a palm tree can be? Do you have any idea? It can be the same

weight as that of a fourth grader. This big! It can be the same weight as that of a child in grade four.

That heavy! Huge! Black! Huge! Solid! Dense! That is the seed of a palm tree. I'm not making this up

you can Google it if you want. So:

…..Allah has made these trees grow and crops of different kinds of food and olives and

pomegranates. They are similar yet dissimilar. Eat of each of its fruits when it yields and also give

its due….

Meaning give زكوة, give some charity out of it.

….. on the day of its harvest and be not excessive….

Don't be excessive in consuming it. Be moderate.

….. Indeed He does not like those who commit excess.

142. And of the grazing livestock are carriers of burdens and those too small. Eat of what Allah

has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of شيطان. Indeed he is to you a clear enemy.

143. There are eight mates….

Meaning these animals that Allah has made حلل for us; these are eight mates.

….of the sheep two and of the goats two, say is it the two males He has forbidden or the two

females? Or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge if you

should be truthful.

Again the false beliefs of the people are being refuted and this shows to us again that no matter how

common something has become in a society just because everybody's doing something it doesn't make it

right because these things have become very common in the ‘مشرك’ society. They took it as part of the

law of Allah.

They forbade the female and they allowed the male animal or they said only the fat or only this part only

that part, they’ve made all of these things up and they have become widespread. But Allah is refuting

all of these self-made laws in the ‘دين’. You know every time I read these آيات I wonder that these

Page 24: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

practices are nowhere to be found today but so much of the Quran has been dedicated to this. I mean if

you think about it, so much of the Quran has been dedicated to this, right? So many آيات, these آيات could have been about something else but Allah made this a part of the Quran. Why?? Because Allah is

teaching us that even if falsehood, false beliefs, false practices have entered the mainstream, they have

become common, they are accepted as truths, they're accepted as act of righteousness…. they are not

righteous If Allah does not say so!

…. Inform me with knowledge if you should be truthful.

144. And of the camels two and of the Cattle two, Say: “is it the two males that He has forbidden

or the two females or that which the womb of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses

when Allah charged you with this? Then who is more unjust than the one who invents a lie about

Allah to mislead people by something other than knowledge. Indeed Allah does not guide the

wrongdoing people.

145. Say: “I do not find within that which was revealed to me anything forbidden to one who

would eat it unless it be a dead animal…..

So many things people have made up in the name of piety; “oh this is not allowed” “this is not allowed”

“this is not allowed” ….. But Allah says: Tell them it is only these things which are not allowed. The دين is not as hard as people have made it to seem. So:

….. I do not find within that which was revealed to me anything forbidden to one who would eat it

unless it be a dead animal or blood that is spilled out or the flesh of swine for indeed it is impure

or it be that slaughtered in disobedience dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced by

necessity neither desiring it nor transgressing its limit then indeed your Lord is forgiving and

merciful.

What do we see here? That حرام cannot be eaten except in the state of starvation and even in that a

person should not become an addict of it. You see the things that Allah has forbidden, they are محراcannot touch them, we cannot go near them. But yes there are certain situations in which a person does

not have much choice, the only option he has is that which is حرام. So even in that situation what should

he do? Take only as much as will save his life. You understand? And any time we find ourselves in a

situation like this that Oh this is a حرام option, should I even consider it or not… think of it as this that

is only allowed for the person who is at the verge of dying. You understand? Who is at the verge ofحرام

dying! Meaning if he does not eat the حرام food he's going to die. He doesn't have an option. So for me

if I leave this حرام loan am I going to die? Am I going to die? You know the answer! Because

generally what happens? People have made it lawful saying that you have ضرورة. Well ضرورة; need,

necessity, is not that your stomach is full and you just have this urge that Oh! The whole world is eating

حرام food, why can I not eat it? That is not ضرورة .ضرورة is that you are at the verge of

collapsing, you're starving, if you don't put that one bite in your mouth you're going to die. So in that

case only one bite is allowed not that a person gets a house of three thousand square feet on حرام loan

saying it is ضرورة.

Think about it…. Would we ever … you know because when it comes to pork, there's this word pork,

people find it very offensive. You know you say Pig and they give a bad gesture. They don't even like

to look at a pig or say the word pig or say the word pork or look at pork I don't know what it is but its

right, but it's so dirty that you don't even want to think about it. Anything that Allah has made حرام

unlawful and you're being attracted to it, think of the pig!!! OK!! Think of the pig that just as the pig is

unlawful, likewise this حرام money is unlawful. It is unlawful.

146. And unto those who are ‘Yahood’, We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof and all the

cattle and the sheep, We prohibited to them their fat except what adhered to their backs or their

entails or what is joined with the bone….

Why? Why were these things forbidden on the يهود?

…. by that We repaid them for their injustice and indeed We are truthful.

Allah is telling us the truth over here that when these good things were made unlawful to them, what

was the reason? This was punishment for their own wrong doing. What was a wrong that they

committed?

Umar عنهللارضي ; he was once informed that a man sold alcohol. Why did he sell it? He thought you

know I can't consume it myself so I should just sell it. I should make money out of it. So he sold it and

Umar عنهللارضي said: “may Allah curse him. Doesn't he know that Allah’s messenger said that May

Allah curse the يهود for Allah had forbidden them to eat the fat of animals but they melted it and sold it”.

They melted it and sold it… something that was حرام for consumption, they didn't put it in their mouth

but they came up with other ways off consuming it. This was their sin; cheating, playing around with

the law of Allah, altering the law of Allah, changing the law of Allah and this is why they were severely

punished. You see the person who has the fear of Allah in his heart then حرام even if it is being given

for free. He will never take it. He will never take it because sometimes what happens playing the

lottery for instance’ it seems so attractive; you are like just give him a dollar you never know might

become a millionaire! And then when you become a millionaire you can pay up your house, you can go

to حج, you can go travel around the world, you can help all your friends, right? You can do so much

good because it's so much money. But think of it; it is حرام money. It is حرام money!

Gambling is what? Is it lawful or unlawful? It is unlawful. So the person who has the fear of Allah, he

will not find even the lottery attractive even though they say: “play here”….. “Play here”…. play is

what? Fun!

Recently I was at a gas station and it said: “play here” and my son read it, he said “play here”! There's a

play place here! I was like no you can't play here. They are saying come play a game which is not right.

So I explained to him what it was. But it’s been so attractive and then what happens? Even with the

Muslims, if we find out that somebody won the lottery then what do we say? Please make sure you give

Page 26: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

me some money outof it. We do that! It is حرام money. The one who fears Allah, he does not like حرام money even if it is being given to him for free.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(this is before Prophethood), was in مكة and he was with a man whose name was Zaid

Ibne Amar. He was one of those people who used to heavily criticize شرك and the practices of the

and that food ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص So what happened that one day somebody brought some food to the Prophet .مشركين

was حرام. It had been dedicated to idols. So, the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص refused to eat it. Then they presented it to

Zaid Ibne Amar. He said that I do not eat anything which you slaughter in the name of your idols. I eat

none but those things on which Allah’s name has been mentioned at the time of slaughtering.

So likewise if somebody offers us حرام money, حرام food even for free, what should we do? ….. “Free!

Take it! It’s attractive!” ….. No!It doesn't look attractive to the heart that has ايمان,

بوكفإن .147 كذ ….So if they deny you then O prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص! Say to them your Lord is a

possessor of vast Mercy but His punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals.

148. Those who associated with Allah will say: “If Allah Had willed we would not have associated

anything and neither would our forefathers nor would we have prohibited anything….

So if we have made all these changes in the religion it's because of whom? Allah! He let us do it, if He

let us do it that means it's good for us. So easy to do this and so many people do this today also the

wrong they do, they say: “Allah let me do it”. Allah let me do it! If He's given me this liberty, this

freedom then it's all good. No! He has allowed you to do it because He's testing you over here what

you're going to do.

This is just like you're writing an exam and your teacher is standing at your head watching what you're

writing and you're writing the wrong answers under her eyes and she doesn't say anything to you and

when you give it to her she says: “Wrong answers” and you say: “but I wrote it in front of you.” I wrote

it in front of you!

She says: “Yeah of course you wrote in front of me but you had the choice at that time. You do what

you want to do what you write what you want to do you can't put the blame on me”. Because if the

teacher would tell you what to write each time, if she forces you to write one word and not another's

then that is not a test and you should not be rewarded for it, right? You should not be given any grade

for it because you didn't do it with your own effort. So there are many people who blame Allah for the

wrong they do.

….Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say: “Do you have any

knowledge that you can produce for this. You follow not except assumption and you are not but

falsify.

Means there's no basis for this claim. حق is حق. It is clear and established and those who don't want it

they will never accept it no matter how evident it is.

Page 27: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

149. Say: “with Allah is the far reaching argument. If He had willed, He would have guided you

all”.

150. Say: “Bring forward your witnesses who will testified that Allah has prohibited this and if

they testify do not testify with them…..

Another principle we've been taught over here that even if the whole world says that something is right

but Allah says it is wrong. Should we agree with the whole world? No! If they say it is right, should we

say it is right? No! We can say that “look! It’s your choice what you do but I disagree with it”. I

disagree with it. We have to let that be known. And الحمدلل we do have this freedom to choose what we

like and what we don't like. We can say I agree with this and I do not agree with this. I like this and I do

not agree with this. I'm not going to stop you because it's your life, you do what you want to do, and I

can only advise you what I think. Ultimately I cannot force you because: ينفيإكراهل الد . However

we can never say that “wrong is right”.

معهمتشهدفلشهدوافإن ….. If they testify never testify with them and do not follow the

desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the hereafter while they

equate others with their Lord.

So what should we do? Follow the truth not what the people invent.

مماأتل .…Come ..… تعالوا :Say .… قل عليكمربكمحر …..( I will tell you); I will recite to you

what your Lord has prohibited to you…..

Now let's see what Allah has said don't just follow your own whims or people's desires, ever changing

customs, No! Follow what Allah has commanded! So what is it that Allah has forbidden?

…… He commands that you do not associate anything with Him…..

.It is the greatest sin .حرام is شرك

…. and to Parents, you must show good treatment…

Why? Because disobedience to parents is also unlawful.

…… and do not kill your children out of poverty…..

Why? Because killing children out of poverty is also unlawful.

بطنومامنهاظهرماالفواحشتقربواول .… …. What is apparent of them and what is

concealed…

Wrong is wrong whether it's done openly or secretly, whether it's done at a small level or it is done at a

very huge level, it is wrong. It is wrong! “ بطنومامنهاظهرما ”….

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“None is more أغير than Allah.”

Who is “أغير”? The one who has “ ةغير ”. What is “ ةغير ”? “ ةغير ” is like protectiveness; for example,

if you have instructed that something be done, then you want that it should be done. If it's not done then

you get offended. You get upset. You understand? Some people, they are very chill; do it, don't do it, I

don't mind! But some other people are very particular, isn't it? Very particular about details, have you

ever seen that? You write something and they will pick out mistakes like; “oh this is not straight” and

“there's an apostrophe missing here” and “there's a dot missing here”….. Right? ....and “this word

should be like that and not like that”…. They're very particular. So Allah is the most “أغير”. What

does it mean by that?

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“And it is because of this that He has prohibited abominable acts; both visible and invisible”.

Meaning both private and public. Meaning when a person does something wrong whether privately or

publicly, who gets upset? Who gets angry? Who doesn't approve of it? Allah سبحانه و تعالى! He does

not approve of it at all!

Has it ever happened with you that you were maybe listening to something or watching something on

your iPad and the volume is really high and somebody says: “you know what? I hate this stuff. I cannot

I cannot tolerate this. You can put your headphones on. I don't want to hear it.”

Has it ever happened? Maybe you've given the headphones to somebody that please use these head

phones and don't disturb me. Or what do you do? You leave them in the living room and you go sit

somewhere else. Why? Because you cannot tolerate it. So you say: “don't do it in front of me. Do it

yourself. Do it privately”.

But what do we learn? Allah is most “أغير”. So he does not approve of sins being committed. Neither

secretly (privately) nor publicly (openly). He does not approve of it!

So,

بطنومامنهاظهرماالفواحشتقربواول ….. And do not kill the soul which Allah has

forbidden to be killed except by legal right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason.

Page 29: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Because when certain limits have been set for us, doesn't that help us to live more conscious lives?

Have you ever noticed that when you go to the grocery store and you're picking something up you're

always reading the ingredients? And what are other people doing? Pick this, pick this, pick this, pick

that ….. And what happens? You’re looking for the ingredients making sure that it's all حلل, you're

looking for the kosher symbol or something, right? And then what happens when you see a whole

paragraph of ingredients? You are like: “I don't want to put all this stuff in my body”. “I don't want to

eat it”. So what happens? You end up leaving that which is unhealthy also. Why? Because of the

restrictions of حلل and حرام.

So Allah has ordered us all of these not to make our lives difficult. Why has Allah told us this is حلل

and this is حرام? What’s the reason? So that we may use reason.

152. And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches

maturity….

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“He who joins an orphan of Muslim parents in his food and drink until he becomes independent of his

help then جنة is mandatory for him”.

For who? For the one who takes care of an orphan without charging a penny until that orphan is

independent; meaning he can take care of his own needs than this person, the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“ جنة is واجب for him.”

....and give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except with what within

its capacity with that….

Which is within its capacity: meaning genuinely if a person earns and he does not realize then that is a

different case but when he finds out about his error, he stops, and he makes up for the loss that he has

caused then Allah will also forgive him.

…. and when you testify be just even if it concerns a near relative and fulfill the covenant of

Allah….

Which covenant? Which promise of Allah? The promise of the ايمان that we have made with Allah,

adhere to it.

…..This has He instructed you that you may remember.

Remember that fulfilling covenants, fulfilling promises is something that brings about success and

prosperity and breaking promises is something that brings loss and failure.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“No people break promises except that قتل murder spreads in those people.”

Why? Because one violation leads to a greater violation. Isn't that so? One violation leads to another

violation which is greater than the previous. So when people break promises, they don't care about each

other, then what happens? They don't even care about the life of each other.

In another حديث we learned that:

“The people who break promises then their enemy is made to overcome them”.

Their enemy is made to overcome them because when people break promises with each other, they

cannot trust each other. They cannot trust each other, they are not united, they're not together and when

they're not united, they are weak. Then who's stronger over them? Their enemy!

153. And moreover, this is my path which is straight so follow it and do not follow other ways for

you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

154. Then We give Musa the scripture making complete Our favor upon the one who did good

and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy...

These are the qualities of the توراة, of the scripture that Allah revealed.

So those people who work with this in mind, the آخرة in mind, then only can they bring about change in

their lives.

in our lives? Yes we do! Then what it is that we need to check? Am I following the Quran?

156. We revealed it lest you say the scripture was only sent down to two groups before us….

Mean the Jews and the Christians

…..but we were of their study unaware.

157. Or lest you say: “If only the scripture had been revealed to us we would have been better

guided than they”. So there has now come to you a clear evidence from your Lord and a guidance

and mercy then who is more unjust than one who denies the verses of Allah and turns away from

them.….

The book is there but he doesn't read it. It is read, but he doesn't implement it.

…..We will recompense those who turn away from Our verses with the worst of punishment for

their having turned away.

Turning away from the Quran is what? It’s a crime!

158. Do they then wait for anything except that the angels should come to them, or your Lord

should come to them, or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The day that some of the

signs of your Lord will come, no soul will benefit from its fate as long as it had not believed

before…..

Meaning once the major signs appear, major signs of the Day of Judgment; the sun rises from the west,

the الجد appears and all of that…. There's no ايمان… there’s no توبة …..

…..or had earned through it faith some good….

What does this mean? That if a person claims to have ايمان then just claim is not enough, he also has to

do something, he has to follow. Claiming is not sufficient.

….Say: “wait! Indeed we [also] are waiting”.

قواالذينإن .159 دينهمفر ….Indeed those people who have divided their religion and turned

into groups (they have divided into sects). You O’Prophet are not associated with them in

anything…

They have nothing to do with the religion no matter how religious they claim to be no matter how

religious they are thought to be in reality they have nothing to do with their religion.

…..Their affair is only left to Allah….

Meaning He will judge them because near Him the only correct religion is which one? It’s Islam! So

fabricated things are not دين even if someone presents them as دين, they are بدعة.

….then He will inform them about what they used to do.

أمثالهاعشرفلهبالحسنةجاءمن .160 ….Whoever comes on the day of judgment with a good

deed will have ten times the like thereof to his credit and whoever comes with an evil deed will not

be recompensed except the like thereof and they will not be wronged.

So Generous is our Lord, so why not do what He has ordered? It's a win-win situation. you do it and you

get so much reward. Ten times!

161. Say: “Indeed my Lord has guided me to a straight path….

ستقيم صراط إلى ربيهدانيإنني م

People also call to many ways, but the way that Allah calls us to, what is that? The straight path!

قيمادينا … a correct religion…. لة إبراهيمم …. The way of Ibrahim, inclining towards truth

and he was not among those who associated partners with Allah.

And what is this religion?

هومماتيومحيايونسكيصلتيإنقل .162 العالمينربللـ ….Say: “Indeed my prayer,

my rituals, my living and my dying are all for Allah! Lord of the world”.

This is the essence of our religion that live for who? For the one who made you! And die also for the one

who made you! Pray to the one who made you! And whatever you do; do it for His sake! Because Allah

made us and we are for Him, so all of our actions should be performed with this sincerity. What

sincerity? That they are done exclusively for Allah سبحانهوتعالى and for this we have to avoid every

kind of شرك every form of عبادة .شرك should exclusively be for who? For Allah!

ونسكيصلتي …. And life should be lived also for whose sake? For Allah’s sake! And what does that

mean? That it should be lived according to Allah’s directives, His orders, what He likes! And death

should also be according to what He likes! What does it mean by that? That after death also the rituals

related to burial and all, they should all be according to what Allah likes, what He has legislated.

لهشريكل .163 …. No partner has He….

لك أمرتوبذ …. And this I have been commanded ….

لوأنا المسلمينأو …. And I am the first among you of the Muslims.

The first to obey! The first to surrender! The first to follow the commands of Allah! Because sometimes

what happens; we keep waiting for others, when they will do it I will do it too. But what have we been

encouraged to do here? Even if nobody's taking the first step, you take the first step, you be the lead.

Because generally people keep waiting for somebody to come forward to take the first step.

Did you hear in the news how a hundred people lifted a double Decker bus in London to save a person?

You don't know about that? Recently it happened. A hundred people, they came together, more than a

hundred, and they lifted up a double-decker bus. Why? To save a man whose leg was trapped under the

wheel.

And how did it start; by one person rushing out of his car. He stopped his car, ran out and he

saw the man trapped under the bus and then he's telling the bus driver to stop. And the bus driver is

really confused what's happening and then as more and more people gather and they're wondering what

to do. They're trying to tell the bus driver to stop, do this do that, he's confused and the bus is so heavy.

This man just grabs the bus right from under and he said: “three… two… one… and everybody lifted it

with him and they did it a multiple times until eventually they lifted the bus and somebody pulled that

man out.

Can you imagine a double-decker bus being lifted by people to save a human being? How? Why did it

happen? Somebody had to come forward. When one person did it then what happened? Everybody

else followed. He does that three … two … one…. Everybody did it! We just keep waiting….. When

she will wear the حجاب I will also wear…. when she gets up to pray, I will also get up to pray …. When

she will read the Quran, I will also get up and read the Quran …. And especially فجر; When my sister

wakes up, I will also wake up…. when my husband wakes up, I will also wake up …. Why should I be

the first one? You know why? So that you can get more Reward! Because the one who start something

good and others follow him then he gets double reward. So:

لك لوأناأمرتوبذ المسلمينأو ….And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among

you] of the Muslims."

هأغيرقل .164 رباأبغياللـ ….. Say: “Is it other than Allah I should desire as Lord while He is

the Lord of all things? and every soul earns not [blame] except against itself and no bearer of

burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return and He will inform you

concerning that over which you used to differ.”

الرضخلئفجعلكمالذيوهو .165 …..And it is He who has made you successors upon the

earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees…..

Everybody is not the same, people have been created differently. They have been given different skills,

different strengths and different opportunities.

…. then He may try you through what He has given you….

We are being tested by what? By the ability that Allah has given us. Do we benefit from them or not.

PART - D

AL-A'RAF 1-30

RECITATION: 1 - 6

In the name of Allah; the entirely Merciful, the especially Merciful!

المص .1

نهحرج صدركفييكنفلإليكأنزلكتاب .2 للمؤمنينوذكرى بهلتنذرم ….This is a

book revealed to you O Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, so let there not be in your chest any distress therefrom….

Don't feel uncomfortable on reading this book, on learning this book! Why? Because:

….. This book, when you have it then you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers.

This Quran is a reminder for whom? For those people who believe! What does it remind them of? It

reminds them of forgotten lessons! Each time a person reads the Quran, he is reminded! Think about it.

Many of you have studied this سورة in great detail, you have memorized the word to word translations,

you have done the tests and you have also submitted the assignments. But what happens when you

revisit these verses and you just read the translation and reflect just a little bit on its verses, does it not

give reminders? It does! So this reminder; who needs it? All of us need it! Why? Because we forget!

Therefore:

نإليكمأنزلمااتبعوا .3 بكمم ر ….Follow O people! What has been revealed to you from your

Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember….. اقليل تذكرونم

Because the thing is that studying the Quran once, it is not sufficient at all. Why? Because a person

studies it once, he learns about it, he learns what Allah has ordered, what Allah likes, what Allah of

dislikes, and then because we're human beings we learn but then we forget. Then just within a few days

as we learn about something else which clearly contradicts the command of Allah and then what

happens… we begin to follow that… we're impressed by that….. Despite knowing what Allah has

ordered, our actions, they don't conform to the book of Allah. Why? Because we have forgotten!

Because remember! Where Allah is calling us, شيطان is also constantly calling us! Our نفس is also

constantly pulling us! And then there are people in this world who are also constantly calling us to

something other than the book of Allah, to something other than the way of Allah. So then if you leave

this connection, if you leave this rope, then what will happen? You will err, will make a mistake, you

will fall!

Page 36: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

So what is necessary; that every now and then we take the time to review the Quran. We take the time to

reconnect with the book of Allah. Why? So that we may follow what has been revealed to us from our

Lord.

اقليل أولياءدونهمنتتبعواول .… تذكرونم ….

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“I have left two matters with you, as long as you hold on to them you will not go the wrong way, they

are the Book of Allah and the سنة of the Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص.”

Notice over here the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said: “…if you hold on to them….”

…. hold on to them… you know for example if you're holding on to your phone; why? So that you can

get your reminders, you can get your notifications…. holding on to your phone doesn't mean owning a

phone …. Because you could own a phone, it's fully charged, but it's on silent and it's in your bag

somewhere in the house…. What good is that phone? What good is that phone? It's useless! Isn't it so?

When is that phone going to benefit you? When it's in your pocket so that every time you get an alert,

you get a notification, it buzzes and you read it, you know what you're supposed to do. You're still in

touch.

What happens is that we take the study of the Quran as a goal…. “OK! I studying it, my جزء is

complete, I've taken the test, done the assignment, مدللحال I have the certificate, done! خلص ! Now

let's move on to something else!

No! It’s like purchasing a phone, putting all the updates, putting all the nice apps, and then putting it

away! It’s useless! The Quran is meant to be acted upon and we can only act upon it if we remember;

we can only remember if we keep in touch with it!

نوكم .4 أهلكناهاقرية م ….And how many cities have We destroyed and Our punishment came

to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.

5. And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said indeed We

were wrong doers.

Because after knowing a person can forget and when he forgets he makes serious errors. And he can be

caught while committing these serious errors.

المرسلينولنسألنإليهمأرسلالذينفلنسألن .6 …..Then We will surely question those to whom

a message was sent and We will surely question the messengers.

On the Day of Judgment, everyone will be asked.

ن .7 بعلم عليهمفلنقص غائبينكناوما ….Then We will surely relate their deeds to them with

knowledge….

Everything they did will be put before them

…..And We were not at all absent.

الحقيومئذ والوزن .8 ….And the weighing of deeds that day will be the truth…..

Records of deeds will certainly be weighed. This is true, our deeds, their records, the records in which

those deeds are written down, recorded, those records will be weighed.

…. so those whose scales are heavy, it is they who will be successful.

Earlier we learnt that each has a ةدرج according to his deeds and these درجات; these levels will be

determined by this وزن, by this weighing, this ميزان because this ميزان shows the worth of the deeds

that a person is performing. We may be performing many deeds but what is their worth, what is their

value; that will be determined by what? This scale on the Day of Judgment.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“On the day of judgment huge scales will be set up, so huge that even if the sky and the earth were to be

weighed in it, it would become vast for it”.

Meaning it's that big that it could contain even the sky and the earth. You know sometimes we wonder

since the beginning of my life I've done so many things I wonder how many pages that would be…….

it’s not possible ….. What record …..? Not possible……. we begin to doubt. But what do we see here

that the scale is so huge that even if you were to fit the earth and the sky, it can actually carry the earth

and the sky in it. It is that huge.

So all of our deeds no matter how many they are, they will be weighed. So the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“The scale will be set up and the angels will ask who are these for whose deeds will be weighed in it and

Allah will say whoever I please from among my servants.

The angels will say: عبادتكحقعبدناكماسبحانك

“Glory be to you, we have not worshipped you as you deserve to be worshiped”

There's so much that we could do because the scale is so big but we did not do enough. We did not do

enough. So what do we see that this ميزان is real. Deeds will certainly be weighed. So first of all we

should never think that we have done enough. We should never ever think that we have done enough.

There's always room to do more. And secondly what we really need to be concerned about is the worth

of the deeds that we are performing. Are they even acceptable to Allah? Are they done in a way that

Page 38: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Allah would be pleased with? Was the intention correct? Was the methodology correct? Was it done

really to earn the pleasure of Allah?

9. And those whose scales are light, they are the ones who will lose themselves for the injustice

they were doing toward Our verses.

What is injustice? What is this ظلم ?ظلم is to not give something its حق; the right that it deserves. What

is the right of the verses of Allah? That they be believed in, that they be followed and if a person does

not believe in them, does not respect them, does not follow them, then he's doing ظلم.

ئك ـ يظلمونبآياتناكانوابماأنفسهمخسرواالذينفأول

10. ….And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of

livelihood. Little are you grateful….. اقليل تشكرونم

Remember that شكر is also an action. It is also a deed because it will carry a lot of weight in the scale

and if you think about it; Gratitude, شكر is something that leads us to action. When a person is feeling

ungrateful, do they have any motivation to do anything? No! They just want to sit down and just sit in

their misery. But when a person is feeling grateful, happy, then what happens? They're active, they want

to do something, and they cannot sit still. When a person is happy he rushes to do something.

So Allah says: اقليل تشكرونم ….Little it is that you show gratitude! Meaning how little it is that you

show obedience to your Lord.

11. And We have certainly created you O’ mankind and given you human form then We said to

the angels: “prostrate to Adam”. So they prostrated except for ابليس. He was not of those who

prostrated.

Anas عنهللارضي reported that:

“When Allah created Adam ابليس began going around Adam, observing him….”

You can, you can see the hatred and the jealousy….. he's going around Adam looking very carefully

“…. Scanning him head to toe, If only I could see one fault or some weak point in him

……. and when he saw that Adam was hollow….”

Meaning the stomach was there… hollow

“…..He said I will win against him because he has been created with something that he has no power

over.”

He has no power over, and what is that? Our need to eat!

Page 39: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Because when we're hungry, do we lose control over ourselves? Do we? رمضان is coming and will show

how much control we really have over ourselves and how much control we don't have over ourselves

right.?

So ابليس said that because he's hollow from inside, he's got a stomach, I can win over him because this is

his weak point. So how does شيطان leads us astray? Through our stomach! What we eat! Because

sometimes we eat that which is not right or we eat too much.

Excessively; افسرا . And what happens? Then we're not able to do anything good. So رمضان is a time

to control this desire to eat. Why? Because this weakness of eating has overpowered us in the past year

so develop strength against the enemy through fasting.

12. Allah said: “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you”…...

refused so Allah said why didn't you do it? I ordered you. And this is something that we need to ابليس

remember also when Allah’s order is clear then why should we not do it. Isn’t it sufficient that Allah

has ordered?

said: “I am better than him. You created me from fire and You created him from شيطان.……

clay”.

13. Allah said: “descend from paradise….

Get out from here!

……. For it is not for you to be arrogant therein so get out. Indeed you are of the debased….

اغرينمنإنكفاخرج الص

So what do we learn? Humiliation and disgrace is for whom? Those who disobey their Lord, not those

who obey their Lord. Those who obey their Lord, they will be honored in this life and the next and those

are disobeyed their Lord, there is dishonor, humiliation for them in this world and in the next.

”He said: “reprieve me until the day they are resurrected .… قال .14

Meaning Give me a very long life to live don't cause me to die until the Day of Judgment.

15. Allah said: “Indeed you are of those who are reprieved”

said: “because you have put me into an error, I will surely sit in wait for them on your شيطان .16

straight path”.

This is ‘ابليس’; blaming Allah for one's own wrongdoing. You made me sin O Allah. You didn't let me

pray, it’s not my fault. That's exactly what شيطان did.

17. Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on

their left and you will not find most of them are grateful to you….. شاكرينأكثرهمتجدول

So what do we see? That شيطان’s ultimate goal is to make us feel ungrateful. Why? Because:

لزيدنكمشكرتملئن …Its Allah’s promise, that if you are grateful, Allah will increase the blessings for

you. When we appreciate, He appreciates; it increases in دنيا and in آخرة. And for ingratitude; for كفر,

the punishment is severe. So شيطان,what does he wants? That we should become ungrateful because

when we are ungrateful to Allah then what will happen? Our good deeds will decrease, our hope, our

faith in Allah will weaken, our obedience to Him will also decrease, our worship of Allah will also

decrease and then our relationships will also get damaged. Ingratitude is very dangerous. It seems very

petty but it's actually very dangerous because شيطان’s goal is what? شاكرينأكثرهمتجدول

Then we see another thing in this آية that شيطان said: “I will come to them”; meaning to people from

before them, from behind them, from their right and from their left. Meaning there is not a thing we do

except that شيطان interferes in it. Anything we do, شيطان’s goal is to bother us. Even in our sleep he

tries to frighten us, even when we are praying he tries to distract us, even when we are reciting the

Quran; this is why we're told: هفاستعذ جيمالشيطانمنباللـ الر ….. Isn’t that? when we're trying to eat

.interferes in that شيطان

I want you to imagine this that there is somebody who is just next to you constantly commenting on

what you're doing, interfering in what you're doing, criticizing you for what you're doing and suggesting

that you do things differently. Just imagine…. you sit down….. and imagine somebody right behind

you…. right next to you….. “Don’t sit here, sit there” …… fine, you get up and you sit there…. “ No,

no, why are you sitting you should be standing” ….. you cook something; “Why are you cooking this

way?” ……. you go somewhere, you drive; “Why are you going this direction? Go the other

direction”….. People who will instruct us while we're driving, what do we call them? Back seat

drivers! ….. You want to drive, come drive but if you're not driving then let me drive……

Just imagine if somebody is constantly commenting on what you're doing would it bother you? Will you

consider that person to be a friend? No way! What happens; our mothers, if they tell us: “why are you

wearing this dress? Go change it!”…. “Well this scarf doesn't match!”….. “Change your shoes”…..

“Why don't you study right now?”….. “Eat some more!”….. “Why are you eating so much?”…..

“Drink some water”….. “Go to school now” ….

What do you say? “Mom! I know what to do!”…..

And if that person happens to be a mother in law; God save her!

Or if he happens to be the husband, then what will happen?

We don't consider these people to be our friends, do we? Would we? If somebody is constantly

commenting, criticizing, would we consider them to be a friend? Never ever!

he interferes in every, everything that we do! When you go to your house, when you sit down to ;شيطان

eat something, anything you do, شيطان is there to bother you, but the thing is we don't see him and this

Page 41: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

منا تقبل ربنا Page 41

is why we don't take him as an enemy. But Allah is telling us here what شيطان said that: “I will come to

them from before, from behind, from their right from their left”.

And what's his objective? Why does he interfere? To ruin the work that we're doing!

Because when you're doing something, like For example: imagine you're baking, and you're counting, I

put three tablespoons, I need to put two more…. and somebody is constantly talking, what happens?

You get confused that I put three or four, you get confused right? And then you can’t remember if you

put baking soda or not so you put it again anyway and then what happens? You make baking soda

cookies; not chocolate chip cookies, baking soda cookies because all you can taste is baking soda. So

aren't you mad at that person that they ruined what you were doing? They destroyed it, all your effort is

gone waste. That is شيطان’s goal that whatever deed we're doing, we're giving charity, we're

fasting, we're praying, he wants to ruin it for us so that they don't have worth, any worth in the hereafter.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“The شيطان is present with any one of you in everything he does”.

in everything he does, شيطان is present with you. In everything you do he is present.

….. even when a person eats food so if any one of you drops a morsel, he should remove away any filth

on it and eat it and not leave it for the devil. And when he finishes the food he should lick his fingers for

he does not know in what portion of his food the blessing lies.

This is why we have been taught that the barrier between us and شيطان, the thing that will come between

us and شيطان is what? The name of Allah! بسمللا! Saying بسمللا!

When a person says بسمللا and locks the door شيطان cannot open it. When a person says للابسم and eats

and drinks, شيطان cannot have a share in that. Even when it comes to sexual intercourse, there also is a

للابسم ?what is that ,دعا ! Because شيطان interferes in everything!

So this is something we need to remember and in order to protect ourselves from شيطان, Remember the

name of Allah!

18. Allah said: “get out of paradise reproached and expelled. Whoever follows you among them, I

will surely fill hellfire with you all together”.

So many people will follow شيطان.

19. and O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in paradise and eat from whereever you will but do

not approach this tree lest you be among the wrongdoers.

Adam السلمعليه was tested with only one tree and we are also tested with just a few ‘حرام’ things.

Everything is lawful; just these things are ‘حرام’. But look at what شيطان will do, he will make that

Page 42: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

which is prohibited attractive! There's so much food, so many options but what does شيطان say? That

tree! So many things to do, but what does شيطان say? Do it the wrong way! He makes ‘حرام’ attractive.

When we choose the ‘حرام’ options, who are we listening to? شيطان! He is doing with us exactly what

he did to Adam السلمعليه .

الشيطانلهمافوسوس .20 …. But شيطان whisper to them…..

You see here شيطان started it on the first day. His mission, he started on the first day. He didn't wait for

Adam السالم عليه to go on earth even though Adam السالم عليه was created to live on Earth, but before he was

sent on earth he was placed in جنة for a test. All right? And شيطان, what did he do? He started that

same day! He didn't wait for next month or next year. What do we do? What we do? ….”I’ll do

something شآءللاان ” …. And then what happens? When the time comes, we forget! So whatever is

necessary just do it now!

…whispered to them شيطان ……

And what was his goal?

…..to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts….

Meaning he wanted their bodies to be exposed. How? He wanted that the clothes they had been given in

they should be taken away from them. And when they'll be taken away from them their body will be ,جنة

exposed causing them embarrassment. So that was his goal.

….He said: “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of

the Immortal”.

What a lie! And شيطان also tells us the same kind of lies; “Just take this mortgage, within a few years

you will own the house”. Really??? You'll be living in debt for the rest of your life! That's the reality of

it! That is the reality of it!! But شيطان tells us you own a house…. “You own it?” ….. “How will you

own it?”…. “How can you if you cannot afford it now?” …. “if you can’t afford rent, how can you

afford a mortgage?”

You Understand? شيطان is a liar! He lies to us! He tells us that what Allah has forbidden, it is good for

us.

He said to Adam; your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the

Immortal…..

21. And he swore by Allah to them…. وقاسمهما ….

And sometimes شيطان brings such people in front of us who will swear, who will tell us that no this is

the only option you have, you better do it! You are in a state of necessity.

…..Indeed I am to you from among the sincere advisers.

He comes to us also in the same way. Such great deception! You see Adam السلمعليه had never seen an

enemy at this point. Forget an enemy; he had never seen a man at this point, another man, because it

was just him and ا that's it! The only two human beings, right! So this was his first encounter with ,حو

someone who was very cunning. So what happened?

هما .22 بغرور فدل ….So he made them fall through deception and when they tasted of the tree

their private parts became apparent to them….

Meaning the clothes of جنة were taken away from them. The honor that they were given in جنة, it was

taken away from them; and that's exactly what happens when we commit a sin then what are we doing?

We are embarrassing ourselves, we are now depriving ourselves of the blessings that Allah has promised

us.

Remember there is not even one morsel of food that is written for you except that you will eat it before

you die. Not a morsel of food, if it's written for you, you will eat it. You cannot die until you eat it! You

cannot!

So the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

الطلبفيأجملوا

“Seek what Allah has decreed for you in a beautiful way”

That is what you are being tested about; how do you seek it? How do you get it? If a house is written for

you, you will have it. You will have it. Nobody can keep that away from you. And this is our belief in

.that if an education is decreed for us it is decreed for us. No one can prevent us from it القدر

What is our test? الطلبفيأجملوا ….. be beautiful in acquiring it! In seeking it! And when we don't

then who are we embarrassing? Ourselves! Who are we humiliating? Ourselves! Who are we depriving

of the honor in جنة? Ourselves!

.…So they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of paradise….

Instantly they started covering themselves because this is within the people of جنة , the people of ءحيا .

They do not like to expose their bodies.

…… and their Lord called out to them: “Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that

.”is to you a clear enemy شيطان

This is the دعا that we need to make also when we make a mistake. Mistakes happen; none of us is

perfect but when a mistake happens first of all at least acknowledge:

أنفسناظلمناربنا …. We did ظلم, but we need your forgiveness!

عدو لبعض بعضكماهبطواقال .24 …..Allah said: “descend being to one another enemies and

for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time.

This is where you have to live for a while. Life is where? only on Earth, because Allah said:

25. Therein you will live and therein you will die and from it you will be brought forth.

Not from the moon, not from Neptune, not from Mars, from where? From the earth!

26. O children of Adam! We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and

as adornment…

Clothing; what does it do? It covers us and it beautifies us. And Allah says:

عليكمأنزلناقد …….We have sent it down on you…..

Because if you think about it every other creature on earth doesn't need clothing, do they need clothing?

No! Why? Because they are already created in such a way that what is necessary for them is on their

body, isn't it? Have you ever seen camels in Canada? They have fur on them, Thick fur, isn’t that

amazing? Why? Why do they have thick fur? The camels in the desert don't have it. Why? Because

they need it here, right? We have not been created with jackets on, have we? No! Allah did not create us

in such a way that our bodies do not need to be covered. No! We need covering; we need clothing, for

what purpose? For protection, for covering, and also for the purpose of beautification. It is what adorns

us, it is what beautifies us, and أنزلنا; we have sent this down on you. Meaning We decreed this for you,

We have ordered you, We have commanded you to clothe yourself.

لكالتقوى ولباس خير ذ …… but the clothing of righteousness that is best…...

What is the clothing of righteousness?

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص pointed to the chest, his heart, and he said:

ههناالتقوى

is here تقوى

Meaning is what we should adorn ourselves with. The heart also needs to be dressed properly with the

adornment, with the beautification of the تقوى and what does that mean; that the intention should be

good.

Page 45: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

Juzz # 8 فهم القرأن 2015

…… That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember.

So what do you see here? That Allah has ordered us to wear clothes. It is by His decree that we need

clothes and He has provided us the materials also. Our دين instructs us to cover our body, specially

those parts of the body that must be covered. Now شيطان, what does he do? He attacks us through our

stomach, right? Why? Because that's a weakness! This is also a weakness that he attacks through

where? Through our clothes! Just as آدم and ا he wanted that their clothes be taken away, what does ,حو

he want? That we also willingly leave our clothing either completely or partially, that is what he wants.

Now if a person adopts حلل, the correct way, then he becomes the beloved of Allah and when a person

does not do that, he becomes distant from Allah and he gets closer to شيطان.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“Whoever leaves ostentatious clothing…..”

Meaning clothing that a person wears for the purpose of feeling proud about himself…. I look the best!

I look great! I look better than everybody else! ......A person who leaves such kind of clothing.

…. out of humility for Allah while he is able to afford it, then Allah will call him on the day of judgment

before the entire creation and let him choose whichever clothing of the تقوى that he pleases he can

wear.”

Meaning on the Day of Judgment, Allah will honor him with special clothing. Who? The one who

dresses up in humility to Allah, so he leaves what makes him feel arrogant.

27. O’ children of Adam! Let not شيطان tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise,

stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed he sees you he and his

tribe from where you do not see them. Indeed We have made the devil's allies to those who do not

believe.

Because: الطاغوتأوليآءهمكفرواذينوال …. their friends are طاغوت and what do the طاغوت do? They

take them out of the light into darkness. They affect them. Now what do you see in this آية? The شيطان sees us but we don't see him and that's why we don't take him as an enemy. But imagine an enemy with

his eyes fixed on you, gun pointed at you; if you have ever seen that on T.V.; like a sniper gun is just

fixed on a person they're moving and it's moving with them, right? That’s how شيطان targets us. Where

is it that this person becomes negligent of Allah that I can attack him, I can destroy him, I can ruin him, I

can corrupt the work that he's doing, that is what شيطان does.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“When the woman goes out…..”

Meaning every time a woman goes out of her house, then what happens?

”.pays attention to her شيطان.…“

Meaning he directs his attention to her, especially a woman. Why? Why, because if he manages to

mislead her then who's going to follow her? Her family, isn't it? So what do we learn from this? That

is constantly looking for those times when he can destroy us and he can destroy others through us شيطان

also.

Just imagine an enemy looking at you, what do you do? …. “Don’t look at me”…. even if it's not an

enemy; a friend, if they're looking at you or you're going to a party and somebody's just staring at you do

you feel awkward? ….. “I don't know why this person's looking at me”….. “better go from here”….. “I

don’t know what is wrong” ….. You feel uncomfortable! شيطان is looking at you. So be on guard.

فاحشةفعلواوإذا .28 ….And when they commit an immorality they say: “we found our fathers

doing it and Allah has ordered us to do it”. Say: “indeed Allah does not order immorality……

Allah never ordered you to do this, He ordered you to wear clothes.

……. Do you say about Allah of that which you do not know?”

We see the مشركين, they used to perform the طواف of the ةكعب naked and it was the most righteous

amongst them who did it. Why? Because they said that we come to Allah in our original form as He

created us. What logic! Or they said that we sin in these clothes so when we come to Allah we get rid of

these clothes. Well, you sin in your body so shave your head and cut your body off and do something or

just bring your soul… logic right! Reasoning! and even today people who say that no we don't need to

wear clothes, what do they say: this is how I was made! I'm proud of my body! I'm not shy to show it,

because this is how I am! Right! This is the logic! And that's exactly what the مشركين came up with:

غروراالقولزخرف …. Right? Adorned, decorated speech! So Allah says:

بالقسطربيأمرقل .29 ….Say: “My Lord has ordered justice and that you maintain yourself

in worship of Him at every place or time of prostration and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion

just as He originated you.

You will return to life for the purpose of حساب .

PART E

AL-A'RAF 31-87

So Allah instructs us:

31. O children of Adam! Take your adornment at every مسجد….

Meaning when you worship Allah, put your clothes on and especially the word that has been used for

clothing is” زينة, which shows that the clothes should also be beautiful in the sense that they should not

be dirty, filthy, they should be clean. When we get to a مسجد our clothes should not be such that others

are bothered by the smell. No; they should be clean. So:

مسجد خذوازينتكمعندكل

But this doesn't mean that a woman also, when she goes to a مسجد that she should be all decked out head

to toe because Allah says you know when you go to the مسجد you should be looking beautiful. No! You

should look beautiful but Allah also says; “the women should not display their adornment”.

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

There will be in the end of my “امة”, People who will ride vehicles that are like baggage, ….

Like a saddle, meaning a very different kind of vehicles, they will ride on them.

….They will arrive and descend at the doors of the mosques; their women will be dressed yet naked. On

their heads will be like the hump of thin بخت camels Curse them for indeed they are cursed.

On their heads will be humps like what? Like those of thin camels meaning thin from below and big

from top.

This is serious. We should see how is it that we come to the مسجد when we go to worship Allah. Are

we dressed in a way that is improper? Is our hair tied up in a way that is not correct? The action could

be very good but if we're not doing it in the right way this could be very dangerous.

But be not excessive because indeed ……ولتسرفوا .……And eat and drink .…وكلواواشربوا

He does not like those who commit excess.

Neither in food, nor in clothing, nor in dressing up, there is moderation, a limit to everything. But in this

moderation we should not go to the other extreme either because:

32. Say: “who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants

and the good lawful things of provision”…..

Meaning Allah produces clothes for people’s use and other blessings also so do not forbid it on

yourself.

…..Say: “they are for those who believe during the worldly life but exclusively for them on the day

of resurrection. Thus do We detail the verses for people who know.

33. Say: “My Lord has only forbidden immoralities what is apparent of them and what is

concealed…..

So any immorality whether it is in speech, action, in the thoughts, on the T.V., on the phone, computer,

theatre, party, whatever it may be; if it's فواحش, it is forbidden.

…..And sin …..

Also open or hidden, Allah has forbidden it.

……. and oppression without right and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not

sent down authority and that you say about Allah of that which you do not know.

34. ة أجل ولكل أم ...and for every nation is a specified term, so when their time has come they

will not remain behind an hour nor will they precede it.

35. O children of Adam! If there come to you messengers from among you relating to you My

verses then whoever fears Allah and reforms, there will be no fear concerning them nor will they

grieve.

36. But the ones who deny Our verses and are arrogant towards them, those are the companions

of the fire. They will abide therein eternally.

What is arrogance towards the آيات of Allah? ….. I know! ……. I'm not going to do it!

37. And who is more unjust than the one who invents about Allah a lie or denies His verses?

Those will attain their portion of the decree until when Our messengers, angels come to them to

take them in death. They will say: “Where are those who we used to invoke besides Allah”. They

will say: “they have departed from us” and will bear witness against themselves that they were

disbelievers.

Remember! When we die nobody is going with us in our grave. Nobody at all! We are alone so we

should worry about that time when we are answerable to Allah alone.

Page 50: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

38. Allah will say: Enter among nations which had passed on before you of jinn and mankind into

the fire. Every time a nation enters it will curse its sister until when they have all overtaken one

another therein. The last of them will say about the first of them: “Our Lord! These had misled us

so give them a double punishment of the fire”. He will say: “for each is double but you do not

know”.

Because generally what happens, when we do something wrong just because somebody encouraged us

and when we are in trouble who do we blame? Ourselves? Never! We say: “she told me”, “he told

me”….. in hell fire also people will try to use this tactic. Will it work? No it will not work. So what do

we see that when a person who has done something wrong then he cannot off load his share of

punishment on somebody else. He cannot put his burden on somebody else. Each is responsible for

what he or she has done.

39. And the first of them will say to the last of them: “Then you had not any favor over us so

taste the punishment for what you used to earn”.

Meaning why you are blaming us, you were also responsible.

40. Indeed but those who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them….

Deny and they are arrogant…. what is arrogance towards the آيات of Allah? To refuse to comply, to

leave what has to be practiced, to not bring into action what Allah has ordered; this is pride.

…..The gates of heaven will not be open for them nor will they enter paradise until a camel enters

into the eye of a needle….

Impossible is their entry into paradise.

……. and thus do We recompense the criminals.

Remember everybody is not going to paradise. Who is going to paradise? Those whom Allah allows

because جنة belongs to Him. Who is it that Allah will allow? Those that He is pleased with. And who

was it that He is pleased with? Those who have shown obedience to Him. And those who have done

otherwise when they are not going to جنة, what’s the other destination? hell fire!

41. They will have from hell a bed and over them coverings of fire and thus do We recompense

the wrong doers.

42. But those who believed and did righteous deeds, We charge no soul except within its capacity.

Those are the companions of paradise they will abide there in eternally.

Page 51: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

43. And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment….

Are there times when you feel like just pulling your heart out and throwing out of it that which is filthy?

That you can't get over it, you can get along with somebody, and you're like what do I do; if I could have

yanked out those bad feelings. How do you do that? Sometimes you want to forgive but you find it

difficult to forgive somebody. Allah says:

…….We will remove whatever is within their chests of resentment while flowing beneath them are

rivers and they will say: “praise to Allah who has guided us to this and we would never have been

guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth”

and they will be called: “This is paradise which you had been made to inherit because of what you

used to do”.

So in order to get to جنة what is necessary? ايمان and عمل! Action! Even though our actions can never

be enough, can they? Can we ever earn the right amount of good deeds in order to make it to جنة? Can

we purchase جنة through our deeds? Never! Never at all!

So how is it that we get to جنة? ….. By doing something to earn Allah’s pleasure because when we will

make Him happy, then He will admit us into جنة. In sha Allah!

And what is mentioned about جنة over here is so amazing….. Clean hearts….. Can you imagine! That

no bad feeling, no dislike, no envy, no anger…. Why? ….because if these feelings remain in the heart

then can you enjoy? Can you enjoy it? Has it ever happened that somebody said something nasty to you

while you're sitting sipping on your favorite drink and then what happens….. They said something

nasty and your drink is in front of you, you can't sip it, you can't even have a sip…. You have food in

front of you but you can't enjoy it.

Have you ever seen people fighting when they're on vacation? A lot! Amazing is that they spend

thousands of dollars to go on that vacation and then what happens? They’re stressed out, they’re

arguing, they're fighting, they can’t relax…. Why? ….because the heart is full of negativity. So the best

thing about جنة is…. Of the best things about جنة is that the hearts will be clean because only when the

heart is clean you can only then enjoy company and good things.

44. And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the fire: “We have already

found what our Lord promised to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised to be true?

They will say: “yes”. Then an announcer will announce among them the curse of Allah shall be

upon the wrong doers.

Who are they?

45. They are those who averted people from the way of Allah and sought to make it seem deviant

while they were concerning the hereafter disbelievers.

This is what prevents entry into جنة; rejecting the truth, stopping people from it.

46. And between them will be a partition….

Between the people of جنة and the people of hell there will be a screen.

…. And on its elevations….

On the أعراف; meaning there's a certain place that is high and the people on this place, they can see the

people of جنة and they can also see the people of Hell-Fire. How? Allah knows, but it can happen.

Either the scholars have said that this أعراف will come first after قنطرة, the bridge that is before جنة.

Because remember that each person has to cross Hell-Fire, each person! Some will fall into the hell-fire

and others will make it to the other side and when they make it to the other side then they don't just enter

another bridge where the Hearts will be ,قنطرة like that, there is another crossing and that is the جنة

cleaned, where disputes will be resolved and then people will be allowed to enter جنة. So some people

who will be there on that ةقنطر or this is another place أعراف, Meaning they are held back, there are not

yet granted entry into paradise, So:

.… on its elevations are men who recognize all by their mark..… وعلىالعرافرجال

Meaning that they will recognize the people of جنة and they will recognize the people of hell.

…..and they call out to the companions of paradise: “Peace be on you….

As they will see people going into جنة, they will say: عليكم .peace be on you ;سلم

…….They have not yet entered it but they long intensely.

Has it ever happened that you're standing outside somewhere, there's a line, and some people, they get

their tickets and you are like: “I hope you have a good time”….”Did you get your ticket yet?”…. “No,

not yet, still waiting”….. “Well! Hopefully you get it”….. Just imagine being the one who's still

waiting in line because your turn has not yet come. Imagine the agony:

…. They have not yet entered it but they long intensely…..

So you see right now we have to respond to Allah’s call quickly so that we are also quickly admitted

into جنة. If we delay, procrastinate; then may Allah save us; we might be delayed from entering جنة as

well. And imagine the torture.

47. And when their eyes are turned to where the companions of the fire. They will say: “our

Lord do not place us with the wrong doing people”.

Page 53: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

48. And the companions of the elevations will call to men within hell, whom they recognize by

their mark saying: “of no avail to you was your gathering and the fact that you were arrogant”.

49. Allah will say: “Are these the ones whom inhabitants of hell swore that Allah would never

offer them mercy? Enter paradise Oh people of the elevations! No fear there will be concerning

you nor will you grieve”.

This is a very common misconception that if someone is suffering in this world materially, physically,

financially; what do people think of him? He is a looser here and there. And if somebody is doing really

good here and they think that he will be good in the hereafter also but what do we see here? It's the

exact opposite. People who are mocked at, that they are being admitted into جنة. People who lived in

fear, they are admitted into جنة.

50. And the companions of the fire will call to the companions of paradise: “pour upon us some

water or from that which Allah has provided you”. They will say: “indeed Allah has forbidden

them both to the disbelievers”.

51. Those who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life

deluded. So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs and for

having rejected Our verses.

This religion is a very serious matter and one should not remain in deception concerning it. Never think

O so and so is also doing this wrong thing, so what if I do it! O so and so doesn't do this good thing, so

what if I also don't do it!

No! They're not our criteria. Our goal is to please Allah. دين is something very serious so those whom

the worldly life deluded, who forgot the meeting with Allah, so what will happen? They will also be

forgotten!

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

make our lives difficult. When a person adheres to Quran, he's not making his life difficult in fact he's

doing himself a favor.

53. Do they await except its results….

Meaning; are they waiting for the Day of Judgment to happen?

…… the day its result comes, those who had ignored it before will say: “the messengers of our

Lord had come with the truth so are there now any intercessors to intercede for us or could we be

sent back to do other than we used to do.? They will have lost themselves and lost from them is

what they used to invent.

54. Indeed your Lord is Allah, the one Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and

then established Himself above the throne….

Allah is above the throne not nowhere or everywhere! Allah created. Remember that Allah created the

throne with His own hand. Ibn e Umar said that Allah created four things with His own hands and of

them is عرش, the pen, Adam and جنة. And no one knows the size the expense of this throne except

Allah.

…….He is the one who covers the night with the day. Another night chasing it rapidly and He

created the sun, the moon and the stars subjected by His command unquestionably….

His is the creation and the commandment, blessed is Allah Lord of the..… أللهالخلقوالمر

worlds.

المعتدين .55 عا وخفية إنهليحب كم تضر Call upon your Lord in humility and.… ادعوا رب

privately…..

Instead of disobeying Him in private, what should you do? Call upon Him!

….. Indeed He does not like transgressors.

56. And do not cause corruption upon the earth after its reformation and invoke Him in fear and

aspiration…… نالمحسنينإن م هقريب رحمتاللـ ….. Indeed the mercy of Allah is near the

doers of good.

Meaning while making دعا, don't just ask; do some احسان also, do some تسبيح, some صدقة, so that the

57. And it is He who sends the winds with good tidings before His mercy until when they have

carried heavy rain clouds, We drive them to a dead land and We send down rain therein and

bring forth thereby some of all the fruits. Thus We will bring forth the dead perhaps you may be

reminded.

58. And the good land, its vegetation emerges by permission of its Lord but that which is bad

nothing emerges except sparsely with difficulty. Thus do We diversify the signs for people who

are grateful.

So the whole lesson, the essence of all that we have learned till here is what? That Allah has sent this

book as guidance, as instruction, as mercy for our own good. We follow it, we obey Allah, we perform

good deeds, we are only doing ourselves a favor. When we do good it's like we are planting seeds, that is

what we will get. Good land produces good results and bad land; what does it produce? bad results. And

the hearts; what are they like? They're like soil. If we do good, good will grow; if we do bad, bad will

grow. One good deed leads to another and one sin also leads to another.

And now the stories of the prophets begin:

قومهلقد .59 أرسلنانوحاإلى Certainly We had sent Nooh to his people and he said: “ ياقوم

ه O’ my people worship Allah! You have no diety other than Him. Indeed I fear for ; اعبدوااللـ

you the punishment of a tremendous day”.

60. The eminent among his people said: “indeed we see you in clear error.

The prophet of Allah said O’ people worship Allah alone because if you do not do that I fear that you

will be punished on a tremendous day. And what did the people say in response? That we think you are

in clear error.

61. Nooh said: “O’ my people! There is no error in me but I am a messenger from the Lord of

the worlds”.

The fact is that they themselves were misguided and they viewed the messenger of Allah to be

misguided.

62. “I convey to you the messages of my Lord and advise you and I know from Allah that which

you do not know.

63. Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man

from among you that he may warn you and that you may fear Allah so you might receive mercy.

Meaning what is so strange over here? You find it strange that a human prophet has come to you?

64. But they denied him so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship….

Many times it happens that a person is conveying the truth to someone, something good he's telling

somebody, but what happened? The other people refuse to accept it simply because it is coming from

Page 57: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

you. They say: “what makes you special?” “What do you think of yourself?” And they try to belittle

the person who is telling them the truth. The same thing happened with Nooh السلمعليه , they belittled

him. They said you’re only a human being and the prophet of Allah warned them but when they refuse

to change, what happened:

…… they denied him so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship and We drowned

those who denied Our signs. Indeed they were a blind people.

In حديث we learned that pride/arrogance is to belittle people and to reject the truth…..

الناسغمطوالحقبطر to reject the truth and to look down on people.

And many times this pride becomes a hurdle, a barrier between a person and the truth. It doesn't let him

accept the truth. He does not accept it, why? Because it is coming from a human being, from a person

who is just like him. So what do we see over here that these people, they were blind and Allah of guides

His friends to light from darkness. He makes the ways of هداية easy for them but those people who

oppose the messengers, then what happens? Their companions, their friends are who? شياطين! Devils!

And this battle has been going on since the beginning because Nooh عليهالسلمwas the first messenger

who was sent.

So who is successful? The person who recognizes the truth and accepts it! Not the one who gets stuck

thinking that why should I accept it because this person is telling me. Such a person can never be

guided.

65. And to the people of Aa’d we sent their brother Hud. He said: “O’ my people worship Allah,

you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?”

66. The eminent ones, those who disbelieve among his people, they said: “Indeed we see you in

foolishness and indeed we think you are of the liars”.

The people of Nooh said we think you are in error. The people of Aa’d said we think you are of those

who are foolish, we think that you are lying. So this is something that's not new. People who call to

Allah have been called misguided, they have been called liars, they have been called foolish and wrong.

Hud السلمعليه , what did he say? His response was:

67. He said: “O’ my people! There is no foolishness in me but I am a messenger from the Lord of

the worlds.

68. I convey to you the messages of my Lord أمين and I am to you a trustworthy , وأنالكمناصح

adviser.

The prophets of Allah, they were all truthful, they were sincere, they were honest men and this is why

they were considered reliable also and this is why Allah also chose them for the responsibility of prophet

hood, for conveying the message to others because it is only the trustworthy people who can be given

this heavy task, this heavy responsibility. But what happened was, even though the people recognized

the prophets to be truthful and trustworthy, when they spoke the truth, when they called them to Allah,

the people rejected them.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“Islam began as strange and will become strange just as it had begun....

it began as strange and it will become strange exactly as it started.

So good news for the stranger's…..

Good news for whom? The غرباء

It was said: “who are the strangers?”

The prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

الناسفسدإذايصلحونالذين ;

Those who do right when people have become corrupt.

So we see that the prophets of Allah, they were sent to communities that had become corrupt. One

community had the corruption of شرك, another had some other corruption that had become common in

them but the prophets of Allah, what did they do?

الناسفسدإذايصلحونالذين

Because generally what happens? we think do what everybody else is doing. Don't go against the flow

because if you go against the flow then what will happen? People will criticize you, they will oppose

you. And we see that this happened with the messengers of Allah, they were opposed, they were

criticized but the prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said good news is for who? For the strangers! Meaning those who

adhered to truth even if they are very few.

69. Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man

from among you that he may warn you and remember when he made you successors after the

people of Nooh and increased you in stature extensively….

Meaning he gave you good physical health.

…..So remember the favors of Allah that you might succeed…. هلعلكمتفلحون فاذكرواآلءاللـ

So when is it that a person is successful? When he remembers the problems in his life? When is he

successful? When he remembers the blessings, the favors of Allah!

Page 59: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

70. They said: “have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone and leave what our

fathers have worshiped?” Then bring us what you promise us if you should be of the truthful.

71. Hud عليهالسلمsaid: “already has defilement and anger fallen upon you from your Lord…..

Meaning the fact that you are demanding punishment, what does it show? That you're not on the path of

guidance!

….. do you dispute with me concerning mere names that you have named....

That you have invented….. Meaning what is the reality of these idols that you worship? It's just

names! It's just things! Objects! that you have labeled.

…… you and your forefathers have done this. And Allah has not sent down any authority for it.

Then wait indeed I am with you among those who wait.

72. So We saved him and those with him by mercy from Us and We eliminated those who denied

Our signs and they were not at all believers.

ثمودأخاهمصالحا .73 ’And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih, he said: “O… وإلى

my people worship Allah, you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear

evidence from your Lord. This is the she camel of Allah sent to you as a sign…

Because they demanded a miracle and that miracle was shown to them.

….. So leave her to eat within Allah’s land and do not touch her with harm lest there sees you a

painful punishment.

74. And remember when He made you successors after the ‘Aad…

Again over here we see that these people are reminded of the blessings of Allah, the favors of Allah

because when a person remembers the favors of Allah, then what happens? His heart inclines towards

Allah; he begins to appreciate His blessings, gratitude comes and gratitude is the door to obedience. It is

the door to worshipping Allah سبحانه و تعالى.

…. and He settled you in the land and you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve

from the mountains homes….

Again: ه Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the ;فاذكرواآلءاللـ

earth spreading corruption.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص also advised us:

Page 60: AL-AN'AM 111-121data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran/FQ2015/01-Resource... · Juzz # 8 نأرقلا مهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page 3 The fact is that there

روا للاآلءفيتفك

Reflect on the blessings, (the favors) of Allah.

That is what will draw you closer to Allah.

رواول جلوعزللافيتفك ; and do not be busy reflecting on the being of Allah the Exalted.

Meaning don't think about… what kind of a hand does Allah have? How big is Allah? …. What is the

face of Allah like? …. Don't think about these things! Why? Because you can never know these

answers! Can we? The more we reflect, the more questions we will have.

So the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص advised us that we should reflect on the gifts that Allah has given us because that is

how we get to know Allah سبحانه و تعالى.

75. The eminent ones among his people who are arrogant, they said to those who are oppressed,

(to those who believed amongst them): “do you actually know that Saleh is sent from His Lord?”

They said: “Indeed we in that which he was sent with are believers”.

So the people, the leaders, the arrogant ones, the people with power and influence, they questioned the

believers; they said: Do you really think Saleh is speaking the truth? Do you really believe in him?

They said: yes! We do! Whatever that he was sent with we believe in that!

76. Those who were arrogant said: “Indeed we in that which you have believed are disbelievers”.

77. So they killed the she camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and they

said: “O' Saleh bring us what you promise us if you should be of the messengers”.

78. So the earthquake seized them and they became within their homes corpses, fallen prone.

Those who were arrogant, what happened to them? They fell on their faces lifeless.

79. And he turned away from them and he said: “O’ my people! I had certainly conveyed to you

the message of my Lord and I had advised you but you do not like advisers”.

You do not like people to advise you! Does this happen with us sometimes? That if somebody gives us

feedback, if they advise us that perhaps we should do things differently, perhaps we should think about

how we are doing things, we get offended? Sometimes the advice comes from a child. Sometimes it

comes from someone who is younger than us. Sometimes it comes from a person whom we don't really

get along with. What we need to do is get past the person and think about what they are telling us

because if we refuse to accept it then we're only going to harm ourselves. The people who are

destroyed they were those who did not like الناصحين.

:And We had sent Lut when he said to his people… ولوطاإذقاللقومهأتأتونالفاحشة .80

“do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds….

ندونٱلنساءإنڪملتأتون .81 مجالشہوة ٱلر …Indeed you approach men with a desire

instead of women. Rather you are a transgressing people.

Why? Because this action is حرام and it is not just unlawful, it's also very dangerous.

82. But the answer of his people was only that they said evict them from your city…

If you don't like us, don't stay with us go away from here.

……Indeed they are men who keep themselves pure.

So we see that they mocked at Lut السلمعليه . They mocked at him saying that; oh you are very pure, you

are very clean, and that’s why you're stopping us. If you don't like what we do then you can leave

because we're not going to change. It seems very harsh but sometimes this happens in our lives as well

that when somebody is advising us we say we're not going to change. You can do whatever you want.

If you don't like it, go from here. If you don't like what I do, then leave. This is also a sign of pride, of

arrogance. And remember that pride is something that prevents a person from accepting the truth.

83. So We saved him and his family except for his wife….

Why? Why was she not saved?

….. because she was of those who remained with the evildoers.

She was married to the prophet of Allah but her loyalties were with the disbelieving, with the

wrongdoing people. Her sympathies were with them, so she was among them in the punishment.

84. And We rained upon them a rain of stones then see how was the end of the criminals.

85. And to the people of مدين We sent their brother Shuaib. He said: “O’ my people worship

Allah you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord so

fulfill the measure and wait and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon

the earth after its reformation. That is better for you if you should be believers.

Meaning when Allah has sent things right, when Allah has made things in the right order, with the right

balance, then what is our obligation? That as servants of Allah we should not corrupt the balance that He

has maintained.

sent with and a group that has not believed then be patient until Allah judges between us….

Meaning His judgment is best because many times it happens that there is great difference and

opposition between people who are living in the same place, who co-exist, so this creates a lot of strife.

This creates a lot of tension. So in this situation what should be done? A person must refer his matter to

Allah سبحانه و تعالى and await His decision and rely upon Allah believing that Allah’s decision is the

best.
