ALABAMA REPERTORY DANCE THEATREOctober 23-25, 2020

Now celebrating its 29th season, Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre (ARDT) was established and designed to provide performing opportunities for dance majors and to promote excellence in dance performance for our students at The University of Alabama.

This concert is comprised of a collection of screendances produced by the esteemed dance faculty at UA. Screendance is a medium of dance that merges cinematography and choreography to produce original work that fuels innovation, consequently pushing the art form in a new direction, thus impacting the ways we perceive dance. This collection features stimulating and provocative films that depict movement both viscerally and conceptually while challenging traditional notions of choreography. The films include numerous visual abstractions while depicting movement in a conceptual context, with all the eccentricities screendance offers as a storytelling medium. Diverse in thematic and conceptual approach, these films also encompass a broad range of cinematographic styles, digital applications and subject matter traversing global perspectives. We hope you will be treated to a transformative visual experience that merges both performance and cinematic aesthetics, while capturing your imagination around the infinite possibilities of how movement may be presented.

We invite you to join us as we embark upon our first virtual performance of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre.
