JAYDEN GENECE

(4-year-old Tommy)

makes his professional

stage debut in this pro­

duction. He likes dancing

to Michael Jackson and

Jennifer Lopez; he also

loves Tae Kwon Do, zebras, astronomy and the

color green. He thanks everyone at San Diego

REP, and looks forward to turning six next year.

PETE TOWNSHEND (Music, Lyrics, Book)

was a member of The Who from 1962-82; the

group's first recording was in 1964. He has

written hundreds of songs, many of whichhave been chart hits. He has written and

composed several major collections that have

won international recognition; Tommy is thebest known. Awarded the Ivor Novello Award

by his songwriter peers in 1981 and the British

Phonograph Industry Award in 1983 for service

to the British music industry. In 1990, he wasinducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He

has been nominated for two Grammys and an

Academy Award (for the Tommy film score).

He has most recently been honored with the

1993 Tony Award for Best Original Score for

Tommy on Broadway. Recordings with The

Who (1965-82): My Generation; Who's Next;

Tommy and Quadrophenia (rock operas). Solo

(1980-89): Empty Glass, Chinese Eyes, White

City (with long-form video), Iron Man (songs for

a musical based on Ted Hughes' original story.

Publications: The Story of Tommy (with Richard

Barnes) and Horse's Neck. Active as a song­

writer, performer and producer, he continuesto work as an editor at Faber and Faber, which

ETHAN ESTRADA

(4-year-old Tommy)

From three years old,Ethan has been in

various sports: soccer,

basketball, parkourand karate. His main

interest has always been gymnastics in which

he competed competitively at Toby Wells

YMCA. Ethan's true passion is performing and

entertaining people. Ethan has performed in

several dance shows: Mickey Mouse Club, Crazy

Frog and the school Spring Sing events. Ethan

enjoys taking drama classes, hip hop dance

classes and is currently studying piano at the La

Jolla Piano Institute. Ethan recently started his

own website (www.djelectroboy.com) where he

has posted the most recent songs that he has

created via Garage Band. He has a true passion

for being creative whether it is drawing, paint­

ing, dancing, singing, or simply making people

laugh.

The Odyssey later this year. She loves to read,

draw, sing, go outside and explore.

ROSALIE CELESTIAL

(Lass, Ensemble)

graduated from San

Diego State Universitywith a B.A. in theatre

performance. She waslast seen in Flower Drum

Song (San Diego Asian American Repertory

Theatre). Favorite credits include Dear Miss

Breed (Asian Story Theatre), Nickel & Dimed

(SDSU), and Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible,

No Good, Very Bad Day (SDSU Theatre of the

World Festival).

DAVINA VAN DUSEN

(lO-year-old Tommy) is

13 years old and attends

The San Diego School of

Creative and PerformingArts. She is a musical

theater major and also

studies Irish dance. Davina is beginning to

learn ballet at Visionary Dance Theater. She

has performed in many shows with The Kroc

Kids and Visionary Dance Theater. Some of

the shows she has performed in are The Yellow

Boat, A Christmas Carol. Scrooge the Musical,

Once on This Island, Les Miserables and

The Sound of Music. She will also be perform­

ing in the Old Globe Theatre's production of

MATTMARETZ(Lad,

Ensemble) is thrilled todebut at the REP in

The Who's TOMMY

under the direction of

Sam Woodhouse. He has

appeared on the Lyceum

stage before with ACT-San Diego as Troy Bolton

in High School Musical. Roger in RENT, and

Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. He received aNational Youth Theatre award for best actor in

a musical for his performance as Radames in

Aida at the J*Company. Matt is currently pursu­

ing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Syracuse

University.

Insignificant Others at Pier 39. Last summer,

she participated in a musical theater intensive

with Broadway conductor Paul Gemignani. and

is a recipient of the 2009 National Association

of Teachers scholarship in Musical Theatre.

PARNIA AYARI (Nurse,

Psychiatrist, Ensemble)

is very excited to be

joining San Diego REPin her hometown. She

is a recent graduate of

the Ray Bolger Musical

Theater Program at UCLA and made her debut

performance as Woman 2 in Songs For A New

World at the International City Theatre in

Long Beach. She comes back to San Diego to

continue working and touring with her Persian

Dance Academy, and continues to travel back

and forth to Los Angeles expanding her artistic

journey working on her short film and working

alongside famous hip hop choreographers.

Parnia plans to transfer to New York to make

her way onto the Broadway stage.

MEGAN BARROW (Sally Simpson, Lass,

Ensemble) is thrilled to have the opportunity

to work with San Diego REP and be a part

of the Tommy cast. She recently moved from

JAVIER VELASCO (Choreographer) At San

Diego REP: directed Suds, Cabaret, A Christ­

mas Carol. Choreorgaphed Hairspray, The

Threepenny Opera, Corridos Re-Mix, Zoot Suit,

Bandido, and many others. He is responsible for

the original musical staging and choreography

of Suds in New York, San Francisco, San Diego,Toronto and Actors Theatre of Louisville. As

artistic director of the San Diego Ballet, he has

choreographed over 80 ballets for the company

since its inception. His production of The Tough­

est Girl Alive will premiere at the New York

International Fringe Festival in August of 2011.

Mr. Velasco's daily tribulations as the artistic

director of a not-for-profit dance company can

STEVE GUNDERSON (Music Director) was

music director, arranger and co-creator (with

Kathy Najimy) for Off Broadway's Back To

Bacharach and David, recently revived at

the Music Box Theatre in Hollywood with the

participation of Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

He arranged the score for Off Broadway'sSuds which broke box office records at The Old

Globe Theatre and has had dozens of produc­tions worldwide and he co-wrote the book with

Melinda Gilb and Bryan Scott. He composedthe score for Javier Velasco's The Brontes, sev­

eral versions of A Christmas Carol at San Diego

REP, and he wrote the award-winning score for

the musical Dixie Highway. He co-created andstarred in The Melinda and Steve Show with

Melinda Gilb in New York. His produced plays

include More Magic and At The Twilight (Stage

West in Toronto and Calgary).

TAMARA PAIGE (Orchestra Conductor) earnedher Bachelor of music education from Arizona

State University in 1999. Currently in her 10th

year as instrumental music director at SCPA,

she teaches a program with over 250 stu-dents. Under her direction, SCPA's advanced

performance ensembles have made numerous

appearances on local television and continue

to earn national recognition and top honors

at festival competitions. Tamara is a two-time

recipient of the California Music EducatorsAssociation's "Orchestra Educator of the

Year Award" (200612009). In 2007 she was

selected SCPA's "Teacher of the Year," voted

"Most Inspirational Teacher" (middle school)

TREVOR NORTON (Lighting Design)

San Diego REP: The Threepenny Opera, Doubt,

Nuevo California, Working, Celebration of the

Lizard, The Illusion (Garland Award winner), A

Christmas Carol 1997 through 2000, Picasso

at the Lapin Agile, Marriage is Forever, Avenue

X, and The Buddy Holly Story. Regional designs

with San Jose Rep, Pasadena Playhouse, The

Old Globe, Shakespeare Festival LA. and

numerous industrial and architectural designs.

Trevor teaches design and stage managementat University of Redlands, owns Cleverco

Designs, designs and sells PV solar systems, is

a private pilot, and proud parent of Lillian and

Reid with his with lovely wife Jennifer. This is

dedicated to his friend Chris Parry.

MIKE BUCKLEY(Scenic Design) is pleased

to be working with the REP again, having de­

signed sets for Three Tall Women and Bad Dates

(Patte Award) and lights for The Beauty Queen

of Leenane. He has designed at nearly every

theatre in town, including the Old Globe/USD

MFA program, Cygnet Theatre, Moonlight,

Starlight, the Welk Resort Theatre and the

Laguna Playhouse. Mike is an associate guest

artist at Lamb's Players Theatre, where he

has designed sets and/or lights for more than

150 productions, including recent favoritesThe Book of the Dun Cow, The Music Man and

miXtape at the Horton Grand.

JENNIFER BRAWN GITTINGS (Costume De­

VICTORIA PETROVICH (Projection Design)

is production designer specializing in scenic,

costume and video design for theater, opera,

film and TV. She's worked with many California

cultural groups including East West Players,Culture Clash, Asian American Theatre, Latino

Theater Co., and El Teatro Campesino. Her

work has been produced throughout California.

New York, Minneapolis, Mexico and Singapore.

She teaches design in the Theatre & Dance De­

partment at UCSD. Current research work is in

cross-disciplinary collaboration in telematic and

multimedia performances. Recent productions

include the scenic design for In the Next Room

or the vibrator play and projection design forA Weekend with Pablo Picasso at LATC.

MISSY BRADSTREET (Wig Design) is very ex­

cited to be a part of this project. She previously

designed hair and makeup for The Threepenny

Opera, The Princess and the Black-Eyed Pea

(San Diego REP), No Exit and Yank (Diversion­

ary Theatre), Wet, Pulp, Blue Bonnet Court,

Bleeding Kansas, and Or, (MOXIE Theatre).

LOUTICIA GRIER (Wig Design) previously

designed wigs for Storyville. She has taken hair

replacement to another dimension, as founderand owner of A Diva's Hidden Hair. As a hair

care specialist for over 35 five years, Louticia

has mastered and redefined the art of wig mak­

ing. Her passion is working with women who

have lost their hair from cancer, hypertension,

menopause, medications or harsh chemicals.Louticia strives to restore women's inner

beauty and inspire them to be as beautiful as

they truly are.

AMY BLATT(Stage Manager) has been teach­

ing acting at The School of Creative and Per­

forming Arts for the past three years. She holds

a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State

University. This is her first production with San

Diego REP. Her stage managing credits include

Hoover Comes Alive! at La Jolla Playhouse,

Into the Woods at Starlight Theatre, The Cherry

Orchard at San Diego State University, The

Laramie Project'and The School for Scandal at

Grossmont College. Her assistant stage manag­

ing credits include Hello Dolly!, The Pajama

Game, Beauty and the Beast, Aida and

Urinetown at Starlight Theatre.
