PDI – Performance Diligence Indicators
Introduction
Alberta, through the government, AMA, and Health Services has requested from clinics a list of patients
for whom the physician is actively serving as the patient’s most responsible primary care physician. In
addition to this, the clinics are asked to document the date that the patient last confirmed that the
physician was their most responsible primary care physician.
Once this list is generated, it is to be compared to an electronic list that Alberta Health and Wellness will
provide.
Accuro clinics can generate this list out of the system electronically.
Accuro has a field in the patient section of the program called “Office Provider”. This is the field that
represents the patient’s most responsible primary care physician.
To generate a patient list per provider, follow these steps:

3. Search for the word “PDI”

This listing is generated based on the Office Provider field in each patient’s demographics. To find
patient’s with no Office Provider in order to update these records, add a rule to the query of Office
Provider= “-None-“ and then run the query to get that listing.

Assigning the Office Provider Automatically
For clinics that are not using the “Office Provider” Field in Accuro, the above report generation will
not be accurate as it relies on the Office Provider being selected. Optimed suggests that if your clinic
is not using this field, that is start to be used.
For all the patients in the system that have not had the Office Provider assigned, there is a tool to
auto assign it based on optional rules.
Step 1: Click on Tools then Click on Office Provider Assigment
Step 2: Select the Provider that you wish to assign patients to
Step 3: Select the rules that will bring up a list of patients to assign the Office Provider to. Note
that you may assign patients to office providers one rule at a time or multiple. Clicking Search once
the rule(s) are selected will first show the list, and click Assign to assign the selected office provider
(selection list at top of screen) to those patients as their office provider. Once done, the Report
Query can be re-generated with the new lists.
Rule #1: Selected provider is family physician and has no office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have been using the family physician instead of the office provider
as a way to record the patient’s physician]

Rule #2: Selected provider is family physician and has a different office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have been using the family physician and the office provider as a
way to record the patient’s physician, and feel that the family physician is being used more
accurately]
Rule #3: Selected provider is most commonly seen and patient has no office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have not been recording who each patient’s physician is. This brings
up a list based on who saw the patient the most, unless that patient has an office provider already
assigned]
Rule #4: Selected provider is most commonly seen and patient has a different office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have not been recording who each patient’s physician is reliably.
This brings up a list based on who saw the patient the most, even if that patient already has an
office provider already assigned. Warning: this assignment is dangerous if you are already using
office provider as it will re-assign the patient to the provider they saw the most]
Rule #5: Selected provider is the last seen and patient has no office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have not been recording who each patient’s physician is. This brings
up a list based on who saw the patient last, unless that patient has an office provider already
assigned]
Rule #6: Selected provider is the last seen and patient has a different office provider
[This would apply to clinics who have not been recording who each patient’s physician is reliably.
This brings up a list based on who saw the patient last, even if that patient already has an office
provider already assigned. Warning: this assignment is dangerous if you are already using office
provider as it will re-assign the patient to the provider they saw last]
Important
Important: Assigning office providers is not undo-able. This action is permanent once competed so
if in doubt, contact Optimed for further explanation
