Quick News February 7, 2013 Alex Turzynski Attended the Presidential Inauguration THS Senior, Alex Turzynski, was selected by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council to attend the Presidential Inauguration held in January. During the five day conference which included attendance of the Inauguration and a Gala Inaugural Celebration, Alex heard several renowned speakers. These speakers included Dr. Condoleeza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor to the President; General Wesley Clark, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander; Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward, who broke the Watergate story, and veteran journalist Nick Clooney. The Tippecanoe High School Cheerleaders hosted the Lil Devil Cheerleading Event for ages 4 to 6th grade Sixty-

five Wee Devil cheerleaders performed during halftime at the Friday February 1st Boys Varsity

Elementary students across the District celebrated 100 days of school Students at

Nevin Coppock Elementary went to ten different stations counting by ten They

counted by 1rsquos 5rsquos and 10rsquos to one hundred they played games stacked cups and

counted on a number line And One Hundred was their favorite number that day

Invention Convention at LT Ball

February 1st the annual LT Ball Invention Convention was

held Fourth and fifth grade inventors presented their

inventions and used sales pitches to convince judges that

their prototypes would be a good choice to earn an

opportunity to represent our district in the upcoming

Regional Just Think Invention Convention being held at

Wright State University on Saturday March 2 2013 Our

district was allotted 18 spots at the upcoming event and

after much deliberation the prototypes were chosen and

inventors were presented with a congratulatory invitation to the Regional level Four alternate inventions were

also chosen in hopes of earning an opportunity to present at the regional event and compete for awards

scholarship money and recognition Students moving on will work with Mrs Lammers to perfect their

The TMS Power of the Pen Wrote Their Way to the TOP

Grade

The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams competed in district competition at McKinney Middle School in

Yellow Springs on Saturday We were moved early in the year from the Botkins district to McKinney where we

felt the competition was even tougher than we had experienced in previous years

Each team member writes for three 40 minute periods on three different prompts they have never seen before

They are judged on creativity voiceunity structureideas and figurative language

Our 7th grade team coached by Bridget Hughes and consisting of Taylor Hudson Victoria Nordquist Lauren

Wyant Abby Walker Laura Fink and Gillian Schlotterbeck took 2nd place overall behind perennial writing

powerhouse McKinney Middle School Victoria was the overall 7th grade winner with three straight ones

(highest score on each piece of writing) and Honorable Mention for Best of Round in rounds 1 and 3 Taylor

Hudson took 3rd place

Our 8th grade team coached by Amy Armentrout and consisting of Mary Kate Lee Tori Livesay Faithe Walker

Mya Vyas Jenny Peele and Sydney Ignet took first place overall beating McKinneyrsquos 8th grade team Tori was

12th and Faithe was 2nd with an Honorable Mention for Best of Round for round 1

Both teams will see action again on Saturday March 23rd for regionals at Fort Loramie Middle School

Qualifiers from regionals will go on to state Memorial Day weekend at the College of Wooster

DPampL and Vectren Came to TMS to Teach about Energy

Tipp students were chosen to be part of the

Be E3 Smart (energy efficiency education)

program facilitated by the Ohio Energy

Project OEP and funded by Dayton Power

amp Light and Vectren Energy Delivery of

Ohio Tipp was selected to participate in

this innovative program and Mrs Wysocki

received training directly from OEP

designed to build student leaders and save

families money The Be E3 Smart program

teaches students how energy is produced

and used The students will also learn easy

ways to conserve energy and increase

energy efficiency in their homes

TMSrsquos Advanced Physical Education students were moving their

feet to Dance Revolution as part of their State standards dance

unit They enjoyed using a Wii gaming system that was purchased

through TMSrsquos fund raising activities The students really

enjoyed addressing this requirement in a new and ldquohigh techrdquo

way

Congratulations to the boys bowling teams for their

record setting night It was their 12th CBC victory

breaking a school record and their 17th victory this

season adding to their already school record The boys

team broke the record for their team series of 2159 and

broke the team high for a match rolling 2928 Also

breaking a record for Individual Series which was held by

Steven Calhoun was Ryan Rittenhouse who rolled a 267-

268 for a 535 series Also congratulations to Jordan

Vollmer for rolling a career high 246 Also

congratulations to Jenny Korleski who rolled a career

THS Marching Band is Going to Disney World The Tippecanoe HS Marching Band will be taking a trip to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

the Magic Kingdomrsquos Main Street Electrical Parade The parade

begins at 800pm on Sunday March 24th If you plan to be in

Florida for spring break we would love to have a good

hometown showing for our performance The band will also be

debuting our brand new marching band uniforms

Join us at the Tipp City Public Library to welcome local authors David Crawford and Judy Bruns as they share

their books and experiences The programs are open to everyone no registration required

Saturday February 16th at 100pm David Crawford an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who lives

in Tipp City will discuss his novel ldquoDelta Grdquo His unique career includes assignments in Ballistic Missile

Engineering Nuclear Shock and Blast testing Subterranean Engineering and advanced propulsion also working

at the infamous military base known as Area 51 These experiences provide Crawford a captivating insider

will host their 4th annual Pre-Valentinersquos Day Art for the Heart

Invention Convention at LT Ball

February 1st the annual LT Ball Invention Convention was

held Fourth and fifth grade inventors presented their

inventions and used sales pitches to convince judges that

their prototypes would be a good choice to earn an

opportunity to represent our district in the upcoming

Regional Just Think Invention Convention being held at

Wright State University on Saturday March 2 2013 Our

district was allotted 18 spots at the upcoming event and

after much deliberation the prototypes were chosen and

inventors were presented with a congratulatory invitation to the Regional level Four alternate inventions were

also chosen in hopes of earning an opportunity to present at the regional event and compete for awards

scholarship money and recognition Students moving on will work with Mrs Lammers to perfect their

The TMS Power of the Pen Wrote Their Way to the TOP

The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams competed in district competition at McKinney Middle School in

Yellow Springs on Saturday We were moved early in the year from the Botkins district to McKinney where we

felt the competition was even tougher than we had experienced in previous years

Each team member writes for three 40 minute periods on three different prompts they have never seen before

They are judged on creativity voiceunity structureideas and figurative language

Our 7th grade team coached by Bridget Hughes and consisting of Taylor Hudson Victoria Nordquist Lauren

Wyant Abby Walker Laura Fink and Gillian Schlotterbeck took 2nd place overall behind perennial writing

powerhouse McKinney Middle School Victoria was the overall 7th grade winner with three straight ones

(highest score on each piece of writing) and Honorable Mention for Best of Round in rounds 1 and 3 Taylor

Hudson took 3rd place

Our 8th grade team coached by Amy Armentrout and consisting of Mary Kate Lee Tori Livesay Faithe Walker

Mya Vyas Jenny Peele and Sydney Ignet took first place overall beating McKinneyrsquos 8th grade team Tori was

12th and Faithe was 2nd with an Honorable Mention for Best of Round for round 1

Both teams will see action again on Saturday March 23rd for regionals at Fort Loramie Middle School

Qualifiers from regionals will go on to state Memorial Day weekend at the College of Wooster

Be E3 Smart (energy efficiency education)

program facilitated by the Ohio Energy

Project OEP and funded by Dayton Power

amp Light and Vectren Energy Delivery of

this innovative program and Mrs Wysocki

received training directly from OEP

designed to build student leaders and save

families money The Be E3 Smart program

teaches students how energy is produced

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

Join us at the Tipp City Public Library to welcome local authors David Crawford and Judy Bruns as they share

their books and experiences The programs are open to everyone no registration required

Saturday February 16th at 100pm David Crawford an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who lives

in Tipp City will discuss his novel ldquoDelta Grdquo His unique career includes assignments in Ballistic Missile

Engineering Nuclear Shock and Blast testing Subterranean Engineering and advanced propulsion also working

at the infamous military base known as Area 51 These experiences provide Crawford a captivating insider

will host their 4th annual Pre-Valentinersquos Day Art for the Heart

at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City This artisan

showcase will feature over 20 artists and their crafts which

range from paintings and photographs to pottery and woven

items Along with the artistsrsquo booths Ruth Ann White and her

Sisters of the Skillet will once again employ their culinary

skills to prepare sumptuous soups and other fabulous foods to

sell during the show all of their proceeds will be given to a local

Invention Convention at LT Ball

February 1st the annual LT Ball Invention Convention was

held Fourth and fifth grade inventors presented their

inventions and used sales pitches to convince judges that

their prototypes would be a good choice to earn an

opportunity to represent our district in the upcoming

Regional Just Think Invention Convention being held at

Wright State University on Saturday March 2 2013 Our

district was allotted 18 spots at the upcoming event and

after much deliberation the prototypes were chosen and

inventors were presented with a congratulatory invitation to the Regional level Four alternate inventions were

also chosen in hopes of earning an opportunity to present at the regional event and compete for awards

scholarship money and recognition Students moving on will work with Mrs Lammers to perfect their

The TMS Power of the Pen Wrote Their Way to the TOP

The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams competed in district competition at McKinney Middle School in

Yellow Springs on Saturday We were moved early in the year from the Botkins district to McKinney where we

felt the competition was even tougher than we had experienced in previous years

Each team member writes for three 40 minute periods on three different prompts they have never seen before

They are judged on creativity voiceunity structureideas and figurative language

Our 7th grade team coached by Bridget Hughes and consisting of Taylor Hudson Victoria Nordquist Lauren

Wyant Abby Walker Laura Fink and Gillian Schlotterbeck took 2nd place overall behind perennial writing

powerhouse McKinney Middle School Victoria was the overall 7th grade winner with three straight ones

(highest score on each piece of writing) and Honorable Mention for Best of Round in rounds 1 and 3 Taylor

Hudson took 3rd place

Our 8th grade team coached by Amy Armentrout and consisting of Mary Kate Lee Tori Livesay Faithe Walker

Mya Vyas Jenny Peele and Sydney Ignet took first place overall beating McKinneyrsquos 8th grade team Tori was

12th and Faithe was 2nd with an Honorable Mention for Best of Round for round 1

Both teams will see action again on Saturday March 23rd for regionals at Fort Loramie Middle School

Qualifiers from regionals will go on to state Memorial Day weekend at the College of Wooster

DPampL and Vectren Came to TMS to Teach about Energy

Be E3 Smart (energy efficiency education)

program facilitated by the Ohio Energy

Project OEP and funded by Dayton Power

amp Light and Vectren Energy Delivery of

Ohio Tipp was selected to participate in

this innovative program and Mrs Wysocki

received training directly from OEP

designed to build student leaders and save

families money The Be E3 Smart program

teaches students how energy is produced

and used The students will also learn easy

ways to conserve energy and increase

energy efficiency in their homes

feet to Dance Revolution as part of their State standards dance

THS Marching Band is Going to Disney World The Tippecanoe HS Marching Band will be taking a trip to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

the Magic Kingdomrsquos Main Street Electrical Parade The parade

begins at 800pm on Sunday March 24th If you plan to be in

Florida for spring break we would love to have a good

hometown showing for our performance The band will also be

debuting our brand new marching band uniforms

their books and experiences The programs are open to everyone no registration required

Saturday February 16th at 100pm David Crawford an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who lives

in Tipp City will discuss his novel ldquoDelta Grdquo His unique career includes assignments in Ballistic Missile

will host their 4th annual Pre-Valentinersquos Day Art for the Heart

at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City This artisan

showcase will feature over 20 artists and their crafts which

Sisters of the Skillet will once again employ their culinary

Invention Convention at LT Ball

February 1st the annual LT Ball Invention Convention was

held Fourth and fifth grade inventors presented their

inventions and used sales pitches to convince judges that

their prototypes would be a good choice to earn an

opportunity to represent our district in the upcoming

Regional Just Think Invention Convention being held at

Wright State University on Saturday March 2 2013 Our

district was allotted 18 spots at the upcoming event and

after much deliberation the prototypes were chosen and

inventors were presented with a congratulatory invitation to the Regional level Four alternate inventions were

also chosen in hopes of earning an opportunity to present at the regional event and compete for awards

scholarship money and recognition Students moving on will work with Mrs Lammers to perfect their

The TMS Power of the Pen Wrote Their Way to the TOP

The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams competed in district competition at McKinney Middle School in

Yellow Springs on Saturday We were moved early in the year from the Botkins district to McKinney where we

felt the competition was even tougher than we had experienced in previous years

Each team member writes for three 40 minute periods on three different prompts they have never seen before

They are judged on creativity voiceunity structureideas and figurative language

Our 7th grade team coached by Bridget Hughes and consisting of Taylor Hudson Victoria Nordquist Lauren

Wyant Abby Walker Laura Fink and Gillian Schlotterbeck took 2nd place overall behind perennial writing

powerhouse McKinney Middle School Victoria was the overall 7th grade winner with three straight ones

(highest score on each piece of writing) and Honorable Mention for Best of Round in rounds 1 and 3 Taylor

Hudson took 3rd place

Our 8th grade team coached by Amy Armentrout and consisting of Mary Kate Lee Tori Livesay Faithe Walker

Mya Vyas Jenny Peele and Sydney Ignet took first place overall beating McKinneyrsquos 8th grade team Tori was

12th and Faithe was 2nd with an Honorable Mention for Best of Round for round 1

Both teams will see action again on Saturday March 23rd for regionals at Fort Loramie Middle School

Qualifiers from regionals will go on to state Memorial Day weekend at the College of Wooster

DPampL and Vectren Came to TMS to Teach about Energy

Tipp students were chosen to be part of the

Be E3 Smart (energy efficiency education)

program facilitated by the Ohio Energy

Project OEP and funded by Dayton Power

amp Light and Vectren Energy Delivery of

Ohio Tipp was selected to participate in

this innovative program and Mrs Wysocki

received training directly from OEP

designed to build student leaders and save

families money The Be E3 Smart program

teaches students how energy is produced

and used The students will also learn easy

ways to conserve energy and increase

energy efficiency in their homes

feet to Dance Revolution as part of their State standards dance

unit They enjoyed using a Wii gaming system that was purchased

Congratulations to the boys bowling teams for their

record setting night It was their 12th CBC victory

breaking a school record and their 17th victory this

season adding to their already school record The boys

team broke the record for their team series of 2159 and

broke the team high for a match rolling 2928 Also

breaking a record for Individual Series which was held by

THS Marching Band is Going to Disney World The Tippecanoe HS Marching Band will be taking a trip to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

the Magic Kingdomrsquos Main Street Electrical Parade The parade

begins at 800pm on Sunday March 24th If you plan to be in

Florida for spring break we would love to have a good

hometown showing for our performance The band will also be

debuting our brand new marching band uniforms

The TMS Power of the Pen Wrote Their Way to the TOP

The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams competed in district competition at McKinney Middle School in

Yellow Springs on Saturday We were moved early in the year from the Botkins district to McKinney where we

felt the competition was even tougher than we had experienced in previous years

Each team member writes for three 40 minute periods on three different prompts they have never seen before

They are judged on creativity voiceunity structureideas and figurative language

Our 7th grade team coached by Bridget Hughes and consisting of Taylor Hudson Victoria Nordquist Lauren

Wyant Abby Walker Laura Fink and Gillian Schlotterbeck took 2nd place overall behind perennial writing

powerhouse McKinney Middle School Victoria was the overall 7th grade winner with three straight ones

(highest score on each piece of writing) and Honorable Mention for Best of Round in rounds 1 and 3 Taylor

Hudson took 3rd place

Our 8th grade team coached by Amy Armentrout and consisting of Mary Kate Lee Tori Livesay Faithe Walker

Mya Vyas Jenny Peele and Sydney Ignet took first place overall beating McKinneyrsquos 8th grade team Tori was

12th and Faithe was 2nd with an Honorable Mention for Best of Round for round 1

Both teams will see action again on Saturday March 23rd for regionals at Fort Loramie Middle School

Qualifiers from regionals will go on to state Memorial Day weekend at the College of Wooster

DPampL and Vectren Came to TMS to Teach about Energy

Tipp students were chosen to be part of the

Be E3 Smart (energy efficiency education)

program facilitated by the Ohio Energy

Project OEP and funded by Dayton Power

amp Light and Vectren Energy Delivery of

Ohio Tipp was selected to participate in

this innovative program and Mrs Wysocki

received training directly from OEP

designed to build student leaders and save

families money The Be E3 Smart program

teaches students how energy is produced

and used The students will also learn easy

ways to conserve energy and increase

energy efficiency in their homes

TMSrsquos Advanced Physical Education students were moving their

feet to Dance Revolution as part of their State standards dance

unit They enjoyed using a Wii gaming system that was purchased

THS Marching Band is Going to Disney World The Tippecanoe HS Marching Band will be taking a trip to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

the Magic Kingdomrsquos Main Street Electrical Parade The parade

begins at 800pm on Sunday March 24th If you plan to be in

Florida for spring break we would love to have a good

hometown showing for our performance The band will also be

debuting our brand new marching band uniforms

The Tippecanoe Band Program is seeking old Tipp marching Band uniforms We would like to

put together a gallery of old uniforms for the fine arts hallway at the High School If you have an

their books and experiences The programs are open to everyone no registration required

Saturday February 16th at 100pm David Crawford an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who lives

in Tipp City will discuss his novel ldquoDelta Grdquo His unique career includes assignments in Ballistic Missile

Engineering Nuclear Shock and Blast testing Subterranean Engineering and advanced propulsion also working

will host their 4th annual Pre-Valentinersquos Day Art for the Heart

at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City This artisan

showcase will feature over 20 artists and their crafts which

range from paintings and photographs to pottery and woven

items Along with the artistsrsquo booths Ruth Ann White and her

Sisters of the Skillet will once again employ their culinary

skills to prepare sumptuous soups and other fabulous foods to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

THS Marching Band is Going to Disney World The Tippecanoe HS Marching Band will be taking a trip to

Florida this Spring Break The band will be marching in the

premiere parade in the Disney Parks Our performance will be in

the Magic Kingdomrsquos Main Street Electrical Parade The parade

begins at 800pm on Sunday March 24th If you plan to be in

Florida for spring break we would love to have a good

hometown showing for our performance The band will also be

will host their 4th annual Pre-Valentinersquos Day Art for the Heart

at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City This artisan

showcase will feature over 20 artists and their crafts which

range from paintings and photographs to pottery and woven

items Along with the artistsrsquo booths Ruth Ann White and her

Sisters of the Skillet will once again employ their culinary

skills to prepare sumptuous soups and other fabulous foods to

sell during the show all of their proceeds will be given to a local

charity Admission to the event is free and parking (behind the

church) is ample The church entrance is located at 14 W

Walnut Street Make sure to attend Art for the Heart on

February 9th and find some special Art for Your Heart hearts

Join us at the Tipp City Public Library to welcome local authors David Crawford and Judy Bruns as they share

their books and experiences The programs are open to everyone no registration required

Saturday February 16th at 100pm David Crawford an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who lives

in Tipp City will discuss his novel ldquoDelta Grdquo His unique career includes assignments in Ballistic Missile
