Setting Up Your Paper
• Fold paper in half long way (hot dog style).
• Fold paper in half short way (hamburger style) and then half again.
• You will have created 8 boxes for the 8 stations.
• Number these 1 – 8.• Write your name in the
upper right corner.
NAME
1. 2.
3. 4.
5. 6.
7. 8.
Station 1 – Evaluating ExpressionGiven the functions:
f(x)=x2 + 4x + 5 g(x)=2x - 3|1 – x| + 4Roll the dice and use the number to find:1.f(x) 2. g(x) 3. f(x) + g(x)Roll the dice again until you get a different number for x. Find:4. f(x) 5. g(x) 6. f(x) - g(x)
Station 2 – Solving Equations Jeopardy
Use the laptop to access the site:http://www.quia.com/cb/77775.html
Write the 5 of the equations and their answers used in the game.
When told to proceed to the next station, write your final score and click “Start Over.”
Station 3 – Algebra Review Quiz Take the socrative quiz that is opened. When asked to enter your name, type the period followed by each of your names (last, first).
Station 4 – Solving Equations Go to the site: http://www.coolmath.com/crunchers/algebra-problems-solving-equations-5.htm
Write down 2 of the equations and show your work to solve them.
Continue practicing, keeping track of the # you get correct. Write this number down before going to the next station.
Station 5 – Syllogism On the back of your paper, create a syllogism that contains at least 10 sentences and uses the names of each of the people in your group.
Station 6 – Midpoint & Distance Calculate the midpoint and distance for the following segments.1.(5, 6) and (9, 4)2.(0, 0) and (6, 8)3.(-1, 10) and (2, 6)4.(5, 7) and (0, -5)
Station 7 – Square Root Approximation Roll the dice. Record the number under a square root sign. For example, if you roll 100, you would write . If it is an irrational number, write the two whole numbers between which the square root would fall. (example… 34 doesn’t have a square root, but it would be between 5 & 6). Record at least 10 different rolls.
Station 8 – Dueling ExponentsRoll two dice. Square each number and subtract the larger number from the smaller. For example, if you roll 5 and 3: 5 squared is 25; 3 squared is 9; 25 – 9 = 16. 16 is the answer. Write the problem and your answer on your paper.
Assignment
1. 3x + 2 = 5(x + 10)2. 7x - 5(x – 3) = 113. 9x = 8 – 5x4. 10x - 7 = 4 – x5. 8 + 2(x + 7) = 10
