Meet the Head Coach

3

Head Coach Lorne Teeter

Lorne Teeter begins his second season as Rhode Island College's head men's tennis coach. He guided the Anchormen in the 2010 season to a 6-9 overall record, a dramatic improvement from the 2009 edition's 2-13 mark. The Anchormen were 3-3 (fourth place) in the Little East Conference.

Three of his players: Nathan Rebello, Nate Lee and Mike Aiello were named All-Little East Conference.

“I am extremely honored to remain as part of this athletic department here at Rhode Island College,” Teeter says. “I am

also excited and grateful to be given the opportunity to accom-plish things here as a coach that I wasn’t able to as a player, which is to bring another Little East title to the college.”

The Warwick, R.I. native closed out his RIC career in 2008 with a 24-33 (.421) singles record and a 26-21 (.553) doubles mark for 37.0 career points. He is tied for seventh all-time in program history in doubles victories, is tied for 12th in points and is 16th in singles wins.

As a senior in 2008, he was 3-12 (.200) at No. 1 singles and 9-5 (.643) at No. 3 doubles for a total of 7.5 points.

As a junior in 2007, Teeter was 7-8 (.467) at No. 4 singles and 9-7 (.563) at No. 2 doubles for 11.5 points on the season. He teamed with Barry Manfredi to win the consolation finals at No. 2 doubles at the Little East Championships. Teeter was tied for

the team lead in doubles wins and ranked third in both singles victories and points.

As a sophomore in 2006, he was 5-11 (.313) at No. 4 singles and 8-9 (.471) at No. 2 doubles for 9.0 points on the season. Teeter was tied for second on the team in doubles wins, was third in points and was tied for third in singles victories.

As a freshman in 2005, Teeter was 9-2 (.818) at No. 6 singles for 9.0 points on the season. He was named the LEC’s Rookie of the Week once on the season. Teeter was fourth on the team in points.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in history from Rhode Island College in 2009. Teeter is currently working on his M.B.A. at RIC.

He is single and resides in Providence.
