Science Grant First Grade2017-2018
We had an exciting yearof science learning! TheFoundation of Allen Schoolsgenerously supported ourscience program with books,live specimens, and sciencematerials to enhance ourlearning.
Observing worms for our plant and soil study.
Our first grade received over $650 worth of materials that were used for science discoveries and observations.
We made a terrarium – observing
the water cycle give moisture to
plants inside the dome.
When our new Stemscience kits arrived this fall, our smiles stretched from ear to ear!
Students explore and problem solve using the manipulatives provided by theFoundation grant. Risk-taking was encouraged!

Science journals are a key element in our science lessons. Students document learning and discoveries.
Writing is correlatedwith science. FirstGraders researched and created anon-fiction book.
