WelcomeOn behalf of Netball NSW, I would like to welcome you all to the 2016 ACPE Social Masters event. I would like to acknowledge the support of the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) who have come on board again as the naming rights’ sponsor of Social Masters.

In what is the seventh year of this event, I am proud to say we have a record number of teams participating in 2016; proof that the popularity of Social Masters continues to build every year, welcoming visitors from all across the State.

I would like to thank Frank Passmore and the Wyong District Netball Association for their assistance in hosting this year’s event. They have done a great job working alongside Netball NSW staff to prepare for what I’m sure will be an exciting and fun-filled weekend on netball.

Most importantly, best wishes to all the players, coaches, umpires, officials and supporters participating in this year’s Social Masters. I have no doubt you will enjoy acquainting with friends, new and old, and have a wonderful time on the Central Coast.

Firstly I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all those who have travelled near and far for the 2016 ACPE Social Masters at Wyong District Netball Association.

Wyong District Netball Association is thrilled to be hosting the competition here on the Central Coast and know that with the emphasis on social, everyone is here for a good time. With the laidback lifestyle of the Central Coast, we are sure everyone will enjoy their weekend.As well as the netball action, the Social Function on Saturday night at Wyong Leagues

Club should only enhance the spirit of the weekend as well as give visitors a chance to revive ahead of day two.

To all of the players, coaches, umpires and support personnel who will be participating in this weekend’s tournament I wish you good luck. We hope you have a very enjoyable time at the 2016 ACPE Social Masters – may you make new friends, new memories, and most importantly have a lot of fun.

Risk Management prompter for 2016 ACPE Social Masters

In the interests of keeping everyone safe and healthy throughout the 2016 Netball NSW Social Masters and to remind everybody that we all have moral and legislative obligations, we at Netball NSW urge you to assess the safety of everything you do or allow to happen over the Championships’ period. Each of us is empowered to report any unsafe practice.

Let’s keep these Championships safe for everyone – players, officials and spectators.

Athletes Village – Player’s Area• Tents are for players, officials and medical personnel only. • Walkways are to be kept clear at all times.• No cooking of any type is permitted in any of the player’s areas.• No person or District Association may alter, change or interfere with

the structure of any tent.• Adequate first aid facilities are available at the venue. Please ensure

you familiarise yourself with the location of the on-site first aid area.• Be aware of pedestrian and traffic interaction.• Be aware of security and ensure personal items are secure at all

times.• Generators are NOT permitted.

Rubbish• It is responsibility for all teams / Associations to REMOVE

ALL RUBBISH from your area each day and place in the bins provided.

• An audit will be conducted at the end of each day of all areas and if rubbish isn’t removed by teams / Associations, a cleaning fee may be charged to your Association.

• PLEASE be self-reliant in respect to rubbish generated as it isn’t Netball NSW or Wyong District Netball Association volunteers responsibility to remove YOUR rubbish.

• Garbage bags are supplied in all team bags; additional bags are available from Event Control throughout the duration of the Championships.

The Courts• Spectators must remain a minimum of 45cms (18ins) back from

the sidelines at all times.• Where courts are adjacent to each other, no spectators are

permitted behind the goal lines. • Safety requirements: items such as ball/drink trolleys, umbrellas,

prams, bench seating, drums and horns are not permitted courtside. Please refer to the ‘Items Permitted Courtside’ for a full list of items that are permitted courtside.

• Participating District Associations are responsible for ensuring their spectators display appropriate behaviour at all times.

• Be respectful of other players and spectators.• Do not move any injured person until they have been assessed

by the Medics.

Carpark• Be aware of traffic interaction.• Please park in areas so marked for team buses or spectator

areas. Team bus parking:• Parking on Ithome Street, opposite the entry into the

Wyong District Netball Courts. Access to this space is via Rose & Ithome Streets. There will be clear signage to distinguish this area.

Spectator parking:• There is general parking available on Ithome Street,

Warner Avenue, Pollock Avenue and on Rose Street.• There is parking available in the Wyong Station

commuter car park, which is located 100 metres from the venue on Rose Street.

• If parking in local streets please take note of any parking restrictions as Council Rangers will be patrolling the area.

Noise making instrumentsThere is absolutely no noise making instruments permitted at the Netball NSW Social Masters. These include but are not limited to bazookas, tambourines, drums, air horns and trumpets.

SmokingWyong District Netball Association is a SMOKE FREE environment.

AlcoholThe Netball NSW Social Masters is an “Alcohol Free” event which includes the tent areas.

Medics • The Medic location is next to the Clubhouse/Event Control. • Operating hours are from 1 hour prior to the start of the first game

until the end of the last game each day. • Injuries are given priority treatment. Prevention strapping is

provided where possible and players are reminded to bring their own strapping tape.

Code of Conduct• Please ensure all players, officials and parents are aware of the

relevant Codes of Behaviour and ensure they conduct themselves, on and off the court, in accordance with these guidelines.

• Inappropriate behaviour from players, officials, parents or spectators will not be tolerated and will be dealt with in accordance with the Netball NSW Member Protection Policy.

So what is Fast 5?Fast 5 is a modified variation of netball featuring shortened games, fewer players on court and goals worth multiple points.

The new format was first introduced by the International Netball Federation (INF) in 2008, and was primarily developed for a new international competition – the Fast 5 Netball World Series.

And, the rules? • Each side has only five (5) players on court at any

one time, compared with seven (7) in normal netball competition.

• Each quarter lasts just six (6) minutes, compared with 15 minutes in normal netball competition, and breaks in between quarters are two (2) minutes each

• Teams are allowed to use rolling substitutions, with no stoppages in play per substitution and unlimited substitutions per quarter.

• Each team can nominate one (1) Power Play quarter, in which each goal scored by that team counts for double points.

• The shooters (GS and GA) may shoot goals from outside the shooting circle. These goals count for two (2) points if scored from inside the outer zone and three (3) points if scored in the super shot zone (see infographic for court markings). In a Power Play quarter, they would count for four (4) and six (6) points, respectively.

• After each goal, the team that conceded the goal takes the next centre pass; teams alternate taking the first centre pass of each quarter.

• Tied games are decided by penalty shoot-outs.

Netball’s newest product, Fast 5, is coming to the 2016 Netball NSW Social Masters!

A perfect warm-up ahead of a fun-filled weekend, Fast 5 is a modified version of our beloved sport with new rules, less players

and multiple points scoring system. But above all else, it’s fast…REALLY fast!

If you’re nearby Wyong District Netball Association on Friday night, then come down from 6:30pm and catch some of Fast 5 netball in action. The friendly round-robin tournament is a great way to get the Social Masters weekend underway a little early, and catch up with friends from near and far.

There will also be a BBQ at the conclusion of the exhibition tournament for everyone to enjoy!
