More and more the Hope Community family is embracing God’s call to be people of hope and gen-erosity. On most Tuesday evenings, you will find a committed group of men meeting here at the Ministry Center for Bible study. They gather together to learn from the Word, fellowship, and to hear from God. Recently, in response to God’s leading in their group, they generously gave money to purchase food from a nearby bulk food supplier, which sells large quantities of pre-packaged food for a discounted price. The large supply of food was then given to Food for Thought and in turn, blessed several families. This same group of men not only gave of their financial resources, they also give of their time in volunteering to staff the Food for Thought pantry. Why do they do it? Chet Shrewsberry, one of the members of the group will tell you, “We’re just a bunch of guys (some are “hillbillies”) that love Jesus and love people!” What better picture of generosity could there be? These guys understand what it means to be available and willing to Be and Bring Hope to our Com-munity. Thanks Chet, and all you other “hillbillies”! Your generosity is changing lives!

Unreached People Groups Today’s group for NMI’s prayer emphasis for unreached people groups from the Joshua Project* is: Arab of Tunisia Tunisia is the smallest country in North Africa. In the first few centuries after Christ, Christianity spread throughout North Africa and a strong church was established despite intense persecution from the Romans. Disunity, factions, and a failure to translate the Bible into local languages weak-ened the church. When Arabs invaded in the 7th century an empty shell of the church was all that existed. Islam spread rapidly and the Christian roots of the people were forgotten. In 1956 Tunisia won independence from France and over the next 55 years was ruled by only two presidents. Today the atmosphere of Tunisia is very secular but Ennahda, the ruling political party, wants Islamic law to be the source for the nation’s legislation. Christian media has generated great interest in recent years in Tunisia and there are currently a few hundred believers in the country. Ask God to strengthen, encour-age, and protect the small number of Tunisian Arab believers. Pray for a complete Bible translation in this people group’s primary language. Pray that entire fami-lies will come to faith in Jesus together.

Food for Thought’s Back to School Block Party to benefit the Lewis House (an urban missions ministry in Toledo) needs: glue, notebooks, pencils, packages of paper, scissors, boxes of tissues and backpacks. Items may be donated individually or as packages. The goal is 200 packs. A donation box will be set up in Kids Factory. Supplies are needed by August 11.

The Family House is in need of uniforms for children that live there and attend Toledo Public Schools. Bring in sizes of clothing that your kids would wear. A list of items needed may be found on the Kids Factory announcement sheet at the Kids Factory desk. Donations will be accepted in Kids Factory.
