BRITISH RULE CONTINUED Sugar Act passes 1764

Effects merchants and upper class. Stamp Act 1765

All printed items must have stamp. Britain doesn’t want colonies becoming

free.

TENSIONS BUILD Colonists boycott Britain goods. Show resistance to British rule. Unfair trade laws by Britain. Colonists trying to create own nation. British troops in colonial homes. Colonists jobs stolen by British troops.

BOSTON MASSACRE Occurred March 5th, 1770. Protest aimed at British troops. Protesters throw snowballs at troops. Solider gets hit, orders open fire. 3 townspeople are killed.

Rigging of colonies market.Monopoly on the market.Makes it tough to purchase tea.
