01Welcome

To make things really interesting this year, we have decided to host the American Superyacht Forum in one of the most unique and dynamic financial districts in the world, Las Vegas. No, this does not mean that the conference will play second fiddle to the social entertainment, but we wanted to create a hub that was not a typical yachting destination that will attract a broader collection of international delegates that can fly in from the Southern Hemisphere, Asia and all four corners of the USA.

For those that have never been to Vegas, including myself, this is one of those rare opportunities to understand what makes the high roller tick, to appreciate the lifestyle and needs of someone who enjoys taking the odd risk. Our industry has for several years taken huge risks on the idea of selling someone an incredible asset that for the past few years has dramatically depreciated. Therefore perhaps by getting away from the real world of yachting and exposing ourselves to a taste of madness and money all rolled together, we may be able to see where our future lies.

The Americas is still one of the most important markets on the planet and for the next ten years I am convinced it still will remain so, therefore we wanted to created a platform and opportunity for captains, owners, industry leaders, experts and advisors to share three days of serious debate, discussion and ideas exchange, combined with what promises to be a life-changing social programme that no-one should miss.

This year’s American Superyacht Forum will deliver serious and fun in bucket-loads, so don’t miss the most exciting and dynamic conference that the Superyacht Events team have ever hosted.

See you in the desert.

Every year when we host the American Superyacht Forum, we set new and improved objectives and missions. This year is no different, but to reinforce, we primarily want the US market to remain strong. However, in very simple and clear terms, the goal of hosting the Forum in Las Vegas is to bring together the world’s and the US’s major superyacht players and influencers throughout the market that want to do serious and sustainable business in the Americas and the Caribbean. With Seattle, San Diego, Chicago, New York, Boston, Miami, New Orleans and other key US hubs all within a few hours flying time of Las Vegas, we are confident that we can bring together a diverse mix of the US Industry’s business leaders. So anyone who wants to engage and interact with these players will have a rare chance to meet and develop relationships that will be far more secure than just a glancing chat at a boat show. In addition to the business leaders, captains, owners representatives and owners themselves will be targeted and attracted to enjoy the unique and dynamic flavor of Las Vegas and our new interactive format.

On Day One of the American Superyacht Forum, there will be five sessions focusing on the issues our American audience want to know about. With topics ranging from Developing a New Market for New Clients, and an update from the USSA, to a Captains Session and grand finale featuring an innovative speaker to discuss The Future of Technology in America, this powerful first day will set the tone for this year’s forum.

On Day Two, all delegates and experts will be invited to choose their classroom of choice and spend 25%, 50% or 100% of their day in that focal hub, exploring and discussing the key subject matter that has been highlighted on day one, as well as drilling down into specific detail on core technical or operational topics. Each of the four workshops will have a focal title to ensure the audience understands the objectives and subjects for debate. These are: Shipyards including Refit – Systems including AV&IT, Electronics and Communications – Operations including Management and Administration – & Machinery including Engines.

Day Three of the American Superyacht Forum will provide a range of off-site networking, physical challenges, interactivity, memorable encounters and social programmes, coupled with the added opportunity of more business meetings and face-to-face time for those delegates that want to continue the serious discussions.

We are excited at the new format and what it can deliver in terms of concentrated discussions, real publishable output and long-term results driven networking.

For the 2013 American Superyacht Forum we have found a venue location that will allow the programmers to create a new dynamic format. The combination of one large meeting room, surrounded by a selection of smaller classrooms will allow the attendees to spend time drilling down into more constructive detail, once the bigger, more broader topics have been raised by panels of experts.

We pride ourselves on bringing together experts and innovators who want to challenge and improve our industry. This year we will be scouring the world for new thinkers, next generation brains and brilliant and inspiring orators on topics that have yet to be applied to the yacht market. Developing, engineering and manufacturing yachts must be challenging and intelligent, coupled with a huge amount of fun and excitement. Therefore it is the role of our speakers to ensure that we map out new ways and refine existing ways of creating unique projects, yet still trying to improve the business model.
