BUON NATALE E FELICE ANNO NUOVO • MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Arena i okolni parkovi - nekad i danasIzložba se mogla razgledati u Galeriji Amfiteatar u Puli od 18. svibnja do 15. srpnja 2018. godine. Građom izabranom iz fundusa muzeja - grafikama, povijesnim fotografijama i starim razglednicama - pružio se pregled parkova i javnih zelenih površina koji se nalaze neposredno uz Arenu, iz kojih su vizure ove građevine najljepše. Redoslijedom njihovog nastajanja obrađeni su: Park Karolina, Park Valerija, Serpentina, Park ispod Arene te zelena površina na raskrižju Amfiteatarske i Istarske ulice.

Kako bi predstavili parkove oko Arene danas, odabrane stare razglednice, viđene očima pulske umjetnice Monike Petrović, “pretočene” su tehnikom akvarela u suvremena umjetnička djela. Osim slikama, umjetnica se predstavila keramičkim predmetima – mirisnim keramičkim pločicama s tlocrtnim dispozicijama parkova i posudama s motivima listova biljaka koje su zastupljene u parkovima.

Izložba je održana u Galeriji Amfiteatar u razdoblju od 18. 5. do 15. 7. 2018.

Crkva i zvono svetog Tome u PuliTijekom radova na adaptaciji zgrade AMI-ja, u proljeće 2017. godine, u podrumskoj prostoriji na dubini od 20-ak cm ispod hodne površine pronađeno je brončano zvono visine 101 cm i težine 360,6 kg. Pripadalo je crkvi svetog Tome u Puli. Izradio ga je 1425. godine majstor Salvator iz poznate venecijanske zvonoljevačke obitelji Campanato. Na zvonu je prikazan sveti Toma apostol. Sačuvan je i reljefni znak majstora, koji je garantirao kvalitetu kao i natpis: MCCCCXXV • SALVATOR • ME FECIT.

Tradicija štovanja svetog Tome apostola, kao nebeskog zaštitnika grada Pule izvire iz starokršćanskog doba. Prvobitna ranokršćanska crkva svetog Tome (kraj katedrale Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije) bila je jednostavna dvorana kojoj je dograđen polukružni prezbiterij. Svetište je bilo ukrašeno podnim višebojnim mozaikom i ograđeno oltarnom pregadom od mramornih tranzena. Ovdje je 1860. godine pronađen oltarni grob iz kojega su očuvana samo dva ranokršćanska relikvijara (danas u Beču - Kunsthistorisches Museum).

Prapovijest u rukamaIzložba “Prapovijest u rukama” nastala je kroz Interreg Central Europe projekt COME-IN! koji je usmjeren podizanju pristupačnosti muzeja prema osobama s invaliditetom. Fokus grupa bile su slijepe i slabovidne osobe te su svi sadržaji realizirani uz pomoć članova Udruge slijepih i slabovidnih osoba Istarske županije. Trud je uložen i u druge vidove prilagodbe na način da su realizirane vitrine pristupačne osobama korisnicima invalidskih kolica, pristupne rampe i odmorišta.

Prapovijest Istre prikazana je kroz taktilne replike, idejne rekonstrukcije nastambi i izgleda odjeće, alatki i nakita te taktilnim crtežima prilagođenim slijepim osobama. Sadržaji su opisani jednostavnim jezikom, kratkim legendama velikog i kontrastnog fonta.

Najuspješniji je dio izložbe Pećina - tamna soba. Rekonstrukcija paleolitičke pećine s ležajem, ognjištem i korisnim prostorom koja može postati tamna soba. U potpunom mraku, videća osoba može osjetiti kako je snalaziti se u nepoznatom prostoru.

Uz svoju primarnu svrhu prezentacije prapovijesti u Istri osobama s invaliditetom, izložba je imala i veliku ulogu u podizanju svijesti o potrebama slijepih i slabovidnih osoba.

The Arena and the Nearby Parks - Past and PresentThe exhibition was open for viewing at Pula's Amphitheatre Gallery from 18 May to 15 July 2018. The material selected from among the prints, historical photography and postcards in the museum holdings offered an overview of the parks and public green spaces located in the immediate vicinity of the Arena that offer the best views of this grand edifice. Featured in the chronological order in which they were created are Carolina Park, Valeria Park, the Serpentine, the park at the foot of the Arena, and the green space at the intersection of Amfiteatarska and Istarska streets.

With the aim of presenting the parks around the Arena as they are today the selected old postcards were recast through the eyes of Pula artist Monika Petrović into modern works of art in the aquarelle technique. Along with the paintings the artist also presented ceramic objects—aromatic tiles with the plan view disposition of the parks and vessels in the form of the leaves of plants found in the parks.

The Bell and Church of St Thomas in PulaA 101 centimetre tall bronze bell weighing 360.6 kilograms was found buried 20 centimetres beneath the floor surface of the basement during work on the renovation of the AMI building in the spring of 2017. It had previously been installed in Pula's St Thomas church. It was cast in 1425 by master craftsman Salvator, a member of the esteemed Venetian bellfounding family of Campanato. The bell bears an image of St Thomas the Apostle. Also preserved is the maker's mark in relief as a guarantee of its quality, and the legend: MCCCCXXV • SALVATOR • ME FECIT.

The tradition of worshiping St Thomas the Apostle as the celestial patron of the city of Pula emerged in the early Christian period. The original early Christian church dedicated to St Thomas (next to the cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) had a simple hall layout to which a semi-circular presbytery was annexed. The sanctuary was decorated with a multicoloured mosaic floor and with an altar rail composed of marble transennae. An alter grave was discovered here in 1860 with two preserved early Christian reliquaries now held by Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum.

L'Arena e i parchi circostanti, un tempo e oggiLa mostra allestita nella Galleria Amfiteatar è rimasta aperta al pubblico dal 18 maggio al 15 luglio 2018. Con il materiale selezionato dal fondo del Museo – stampe, foto storiche e vecchie cartoline illustrate – è stata composta una rassegna dei parchi e delle aree verdi pubbliche che attorniano l'Arena e dai quali si aprono le più belle vedute sul monumento. Seguendo un ordine cronologico sono stati presentati il Parco Carolina, il Parco Valeria, la Serpentina, il Parco ai piedi dell'Arena e il giardinetto all'incrocio tra via dell'Anfiteatro e via dell'Istria.

Inoltre l'artista polese Monika Petrović vi ha aggiunto una propria visione dei parchi oggi, “trasformando” tramite la tecnica dell'acquerello i motivi delle vecchie cartoline in opere d'arte contemporanea. Oltre che con i dipinti l'artista si è presentata con degli oggetti di ceramica: tavolette profumate con le mappe dei parchi e recipienti decorati con i motivi delle foglie le cui piante abbelliscono le aree verdi.

La chiesa e la campana di San Tommaso a PolaNella primavera del 2017, durante i lavori di ristrutturazione all'edificio del Museo archeologico dell'Istria, è stata trovata negli ambienti dello scantinato, a una ventina di centimetri sotto il piano di calpestio, una campana di bronzo alta 101 cm e pesante 360,6 kg. Apparteneva alla chiesa polese di San Tommaso e venne fucinata nel 1425 da maestro Salvator della nota famiglia di campanari veneziani Campanato. Sulla campana figurano l'immagine di San Tommaso apostolo, il marchio del maestro in rilievo, garanzia di qualità, e la seguente scritta: MCCCCXXV• SALVATOR• ME FECIT.

Il culto di San Tommaso apostolo, celeste protettore della città di Pola, è una tradizione che risale alla prima era cristiana. In origine la chiesa paleocristiana di San Tommaso (situata accanto al Duomo dell'Assunzione della Beata Vergine Maria) era una semplice aula, cui venne aggiunto un presbiterio semicircolare, decorato da un pavimento musivo policromo e chiuso da una recinzione d'altare fatta di transenne marmoree. Nel 1860 qui venne scoperta una confessione d'altare di cui rimangono soltanto due reliquiari paleocristiani (oggi a Vienna - Kunsthistorisches Museum).

La preistoria nelle mani“La preistoria nelle mani” è il titolo della mostra scaturita dall'adesione all'Interreg Central Europe Project COME-IN, a sua volta mirato a favorire e aumentare l'accessibilità ai musei da parte delle persone con disabilità. Grazie a un gruppo di discussione (focus group) formato da persone non vedenti o ipovedenti, tutti i contenuti sono stati realizzati con l'inclusione dell'Associazione regionale dei ciechi e ipovedenti dell'Istria. Un grande impegno è stato profuso altresì in altre forme di facilitazione all'accesso, nel senso che le vetrine espositive sono state allestite in modo da renderle raggiungibili anche alle persone in carrozzella, tramite apposite rampe e punti sosta.

Per rappresentare la preistoria dell'Istria si è fatto ricorso a repliche tattili, ricostruzioni di massima degli insediamenti e degli indumenti, degli arnesi e dei monili e disegni tattili adeguati ai non vedenti. I contenuti erano descritti con un linguaggio semplice, in brevi didascalie in caratteri grandi e ben contrastati.

Il punto espositivo di maggior successo è stato la Caverna - stanza buia. Si è trattato della ricostruzione di una caverna paleolitica con il giaciglio, il focolare e uno spazio polivalente, che poteva diventare una stanza buia, nella quale un vedente poteva provare di persona che cosa significhi destreggiarsi in un ambiente sconosciuto.

Oltre che a presentare la preistoria in Istria alle persone con disabilità, la mostra è servita anche a sensibilizzare in maniera sostanziale l'opinione pubblica sulle necessità delle persone cieche e ipovedenti.

The Prehistory in Your HandsThe Prehistory in Your Hands exhibition was staged in the frame of the Interreg Central Europe COME-IN! project which aims to improve museum accessibility to handicapped persons. The focus groups were blind persons and persons with impaired vision and all the content was created with the help of members of the Istria Country Association of Blind and Vision Impaired Persons. An effort was made to adapt other aspects of the space, with display cases made accessible to persons using wheelchairs, and by providing access ramps and rest areas.

The prehistory of Istria was presented using tactile replicas, conceptual reconstructions of dwellings and the appearance of clothing, tools, and jewellery, and tactile drawings adapted to blind persons. The content was described in simple terms, with brief captions using large and high-contrast fonts.

The most successful part of the exhibition was the Dark Room Cave. This reconstruction of a Palaeolithic cave with a bed, hearth and useful space can be turned into a dark room. In complete darkness seeing persons can get a sense of what it is like to find one's way around an unknown space.

Along with its primary mission of presenting prehistory in Istria to handicapped persons the exhibition also played a significant role in raising awareness of the needs of blind people and people with impaired vision.
