Day 3 Wed. Sept 20 This morning we’ll first visit the Louisville Slugger Museum, which showcases the history of baseball. You’ll be in awe at the sight of the world’s largest bat, standing 6 stories high and weighing 68,000 lbs. Then we’ll board the Spirit of Jefferson for a sight-seeing luncheon cruise. All aboard as we enjoy a leisure riverboat journey and hear a little folklore of the Ohio River. And then “we’re off”, for fun and excitement as we visit Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. Come and experience where people celebrate world- wide, the “Greatest 2 Minutes in Sports.” (B,L) Day 1 Mon. Sept 18 Today we set off on a fun-filled adventure! Join us as we travel to Collinsville, IL. for our overnight stay, where you’ll enjoy a hotel “happy hour”. (D) Day 2 Tues. Sept 19 From horse farms to the blue grass countryside to bourbon country, Kentucky has it all. We’ll spend the next few days trying to take a little of all of it in….We’ll travel to Louisville, KY today where our first stop will be the Jim Beam Distillery. Louisville is known as the “Bourbon Capitol of the World”. Here you’ll get an up-close look at how Jim Beam Bourbon is made. A guided tour will take you through the entire process including distilling, barreling, aging & bottling. We’ll then get you checked into your Shelbyville, KY hotel, you’re home for the next 2 nights. Then we’re off to have dinner at Claudia Sanders Dinner House located in Shelbyville. Shelbyville is where Colonel Sanders got his start and he called home and headquarters for KFC. This unique restaurant is in honor of his wife, Claudia. Day 4 Thurs. Sept 21 This morning we leave Louisville behind and travel first to Shaker Village near Harrodsburg, KY. We’ll enjoy a guided tour and lunch-eon of this unique village where costumed interpreters chronicle Shaker life as it was back in the day. We’ll then travel onto Lexington, KY. Here we’ll discover the “Best of the Bluegrass Country” as we travel by miles of white fences through Thoroughbred Horse Country. We’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour at historic Keen-land Race Course. We’ll get the chance to get up-close and personal with retired stallions at “Old Friends”, a very special haven for horses in Kentucky. Pet and feed them all you want! Overnight in Lexington. (B,L)

Day 5 Fri. Sept 22 This morning we leave the beau-tiful state of Kentucky behind us as we travel into West Virginia, home of the Appalachian Mountains. Our first stop today will be at Hawk’s Nest State Park. While here we’ll take a narrated jetboat ride where you’ll enjoy fantastic views from the New River Gorge and get some great views of the New River Bridge. Later this afternoon we travel to Beckley, West Virginia. Tonight at our hotel you’re in for a nice little surprise as we learn more Appalachian history. (B)

Day 6 Sat. Sept 23 This morning we start out by visiting the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. Here we’ll get a realistic look at coal mining as it was at the turn of the century. We then travel to J.Q. Dickinson Salt Farm in the Kanawha Valley, which is the largest salt producing region in the United States. While here you’ll learn how the salt was harvested from underneath the Appalachian Mountains. Later today we travel to Huntington, West Virginia, our home for tonight. (B)

Day 7 Sun. Sept 24 We start our journey towards home today as we travel to Indianapolis, IN. After arriving in Indianapolis this afternoon we’ll tour the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. Here you’ll see a collection of race cars from many different series of auto racing, at various points in history. We’ll then get checked into our hotel in Indianapolis where you’ll, once again, enjoy a hotel “happy hour”. (B,D)
