PROPANE contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. State law requires us to warn you of the presence of these chemicals. Benzene, soot and formaldehyde are such chemicals. A trace amount of benzene may occur in propane, but will normally be consumed during combustion.

Exposure through leaking gas is possible. Soot and formaldehyde, byproducts of burning gas, are minimized by proper combustion. Delta Liquid Energy encourages all of its customers to use propane safely. You should read and follow all use, care, and manufacturer instructions for propane appliances and equipment. Proper ventilation and frequent inspection of propane appliances and equipment are highly recommended.

Our service technicians are available to check and adjust your propane gas appliances. A warning odor is added to propane so that leaks of unburned gas can be quickly detected. If gas odor is detected, call us immediately.

How BBQ-Savvy Are You?

When it comes to barbecuing, most people listen only to their gut instincts: as their stomachs start to grumble they fire up the grill and throw on the steaks, patties and hot dogs. But truly savvy grill-masters follow their other 5 BBQ Senses to operate backyard gas barbecues safely:

SIGHT• Clear the area around the grill so that

flammable objects are at least 10 feet away and the grill stands in a well-ventilated area.

• Do a quick Bubble Test: Check for gas leaks from hoses and connectors by brushing soapy water around valves and fittings; if bubbles arise, there is a leak. DO NOT use matches to check for leaks.

• Take a peek at the manufacturer instructions for operation, cleaning and maintenance to make sure you’re up to speed.

• Open the grill hood BEFORE lighting the grill.

TOUCH• When you’re not grilling, keep valves

closed (finger-tightened) and capped to ensure that gas is not escaping.

• When you’re ready to grill, have your match or lighter in hand before opening the gas valves so that you can ignite the gas immediately. (If your grill has a pilot light, first check that it’s lit.)

SOUND• Psssss! That soft whispering sound is

the sound of gas escaping into the air.

If you hear this, turn OFF the gas valve and let the gas dissipate before lighting a match or using the igniter.

• Tick-Tick-Tick! If your grill’s igniting switch is making this sound, but not lighting, gas is escaping into the air RAPIDLY. Turn OFF the gas valve and let the gas dissipate completely before trying again. If the igniter fails to light after two or three tries, turn off the gas and replace the igniter switch.

• REMEMBER: Releasing gas before igniting the grill is a fire hazard and is very dangerous.

SMELL • Follow your nose: propane is odorized

so that even if you can’t hear or see a gas leak, you can smell it!

TASTE• Now you’re safe to grill and eat some
