Driving Down Fuel PricesGas prices have gone through the roof this year. For those ready to think about cheaper, greener, and domestically produced alternatives that perform as well as gasoline or diesel, propane again provides the answer. Propane “autogas” powers more than 15 million vehicles in more than 38 countries, and the upward trend is growing as drivers and fl eet operators learn of the enormous savings to be made by switching. Propane prices are around 30% lower, per gallon, than gasoline. If that’s not convincing enough, propane fuel reduces carbon monoxide emissions from vehicles by as much as 60 percent. Furthermore, autogas trucks such as the new Roush Ford F-250 have been shown to perform just as well on the road as their gasoline-powered counterparts. Visit www.arroautogas.com for more information. ARRO Autogas is a division of Delta Liquid Energy.

Upgraded AppliancesEnergy effi ciency is one of the keys to reducing emissions and reducing spending. Save on monthly utility costs by upgrading to more effi cient, propane-powered ENERGY STAR clothes dryers, stoves, ovens and other appliances. Not only will these

new appliances run cleaner and more effi ciently, but you can also save on purchases through sales tax exemptions, credits, or rebates. Rebates are also often available for properly disposing of old and ineffi cient appliances.

Propane-Powered Money-Savings!Think Greener and Domestically Produced

Each year, thousands of people save money by powering their home heating systems with propane. But as the warmer months roll in, and heater dials are rolled back, the ways to save money with propane are just beginning. The clean-burning, domestically produced energy source is slashing consumers’ spending in numerous areas and applications.

Mow-PowerHave you ever considered that you could be saving dough while you mow? Landscaping companies operating commercial-grade mowers have been shown to cut fuel cost, reduce landscapers’ work hours and improve effi ciency by switching to propane-powered mowers (www.propanemarc.com). Additionally, mowing with propane eliminates fuel spills. Each year, 17 million gallons of gasoline are spilled by non-propane powered landscape equipment. Keep lawns trimmed, the earth clean, and your wallet full with a propane mower.

Commercial-grade propane mowers cut fuel costsand improve effi ciency.

Most responsible homeowners and businesses enjoying the power of propane fi nd that its benefi ts far outweigh its risks. However, potential risks can become serious problems if not recognized and secured. Uncapped and/or unplugged propane gas pipes can create very unsafe situations. Ask yourself this very important question,

“Do I have any gas pipes in my home or business that are not connected to an appliance?”

For example, this might be an electric model clothes dryer instead of a gas model. If the answer is yes, then take comfort in knowing that capping any open pipe outlet is an easy fi x, with the proper instruction.

All gas pipe outlets, including manual shutoff valves, must be closed and also capped with a threaded plug, threaded cap, or fl are cap at the end, until a gas appliance is connected.

Secure ManualShutoff ValuesYou may have manual shutoff valves on propane lines in your home that are not connected to appliances. These manual shutoff valves, which are equipped with a handle for opening and closing the valves, must additionally have a cap or plug on the end when not connected to an appliance — even though the valve handle is in the closed position. It is important to know that the handle on the manual shutoff valve can be pushed open by something brushing against it. This can be out of your control, such as a washing machine with an unbalanced load, or a child, guest, or yourself, that accidentally engages the valve by making contact with it. Please note, once the valve is opened, gas can be released, which may result in a fi re or explosion.

Get Safe TodayShould you discover an uncapped, or unplugged gas appliance valve, and are not confi dent in your ability to safely secure the pipe by yourself, please contact your local Delta Liquid Energy offi ce. As a valued customer, we will be happy to secure any valve to ensure your safety.
