The Lecture Capture System (LCS), powered by
Echo360, has so much more to offer. Moving
beyond simple lecture recording you can now
create and engage your students with the many
new interactive tools, and track their
engagement and learning.
Lecture Capture Policy at UWA The University has under taken a proactive approach to
lecture captures as endorsed by Academic Board. All
lectures in recording-enabled teaching spaces must be
recorded and downloadable to students. The LCS will
automatically record your lecture, if it has been scheduled
in the central timetabling system. All you have to
remember is to turn on your microphone and check you
can hear yourself through the venue speakers.
Recording and Streaming Lectures Record scheduled lectures
Record and upload additional learning videos
Live Streaming (coming soon)
Video Management Personal Library with content search
Easy to edit, publish and share recordings
Group and re-order your recording pedagogically
and systematically
Student Learning and Engagement Make learning active before, during and after class with
engagement and peer-to-peer learning tools.
Student bookmarking, annotation, note-taking
contextually lined to presentations and videos
Interactive online discussions (anonymous or
public)
Real time polling embedded in live lectures and
presentations
Ability for student to flag confusion
Analytics Improve learning outcomes and intervene early with
insight into student learning behaviours using the
dashboard or download all the data.
Measures overall student engagement and
pedagogical framework
Student dashboards to assess individual’s
performance and identify student at-risk
Integration with LMS grade center
Universal Capture Software (UCS) This software allows you to record your lectures or
presentations at your desk or in the venues that do not
have capability for automatic lecture capture.
With UCS you can capture computer screen, audio and
optionally a 'talking head' via webcam simultaneously.
Recordings can be published straight to your LCS unit and
or your personal “My Content” area.
Copyright For most materials presented in lectures, the University
has in place copyright licence arrangements that cover the
recording of such materials as part of a lecture. However,
there are some exceptions to this and staff are advised to
check the copyright agreements before using any external
material in a lecture, regardless of whether it is being
recorded.

Click ‘REORDER’, click and drag classes to move
them around in the list. Click ‘Save.’
The Lecture Captures System (LCS) makes it easier
to rename and re-order your content. If you have
lectures scheduled in a recording-enabled venue,
you will see all your scheduled lectures ready to
go. All you have to remember is to TURN ON your
microphone and check you can hear yourself
through the venue speakers.
Rename your lectures Scheduled lectures have generic title names and
should be renamed to reflect the topic/s in the
recording, to let students know what to expect.
Click on the edit icon (pencil icon) to edit the name
and description of your class/ lesson. Click ‘OK’
EEU Recommendation – ‘Lecture Number’ – ‘Topic’
‘Lecture 1 – Introduction to Accounting’
Re-order By default, class (lecture recordings) are listed by date
and time, with the oldest class appearing at the top
and classes without dates appearing at the bottom of
the list.
Instructors can change the order of their class list to:
① Sort the classes in chronological order, either with
the newest class first or the oldest class first.
② Move classes into groups to provide a logical set
of similar topics.
① Example by Week
② Example by Topic

Copying Lecture Recording
Lecture recording or video content can be copied from other
units and previous teaching semeters.
Note: Instructors can ONLY share content they own, located
in their ‘My Content’ which means you have to copy
previous lecture recordings to your ‘My Content’ and then
share them in the appropriate Echo360 unit section.
You might want to copy Lecture Recordings from one
semester to the other, e.g. to make-up for a lecture that falls
on a public holiday.
Step ① - Navigate to ‘Lecture Recording’ in LMS
Go to the semester in which this lecture recording is
stored/captured. Note: If you are not a Unit Coordinator
(UC), you might need your UC to help you retrieve this
recording. Click the ‘play’ button to check ‘Create Copy’
function.

Once you have created a copy of that recording, you can
retrieve it in your Echo Library.
Step ②- Navigate to ‘My Content’ To go to the Homepage, click the Echo360 icon. Click ‘My
Content,’ find the content.
You should find (Copy) at the end of the Title of the
Recording. At the lower right hand of the screen, find the
three blue dots and click ‘Share’
Step ③ - Select Class, Course, Term, Section and
Existing or New Class and click Share
Step ④ - Rename and reorder the lecture
recording in your unit.
Once your lecture recording is copied and shared to the
relevant unit, section and class, you would have to access
your current unit that is the lecture recording is being
shared to and rename and reorder the lecture recording in
your unit. To reorder your lecture order, click on the
Reorder button and all lecture recordings will be contained
in a blue dotted boundary. Use your mouse to move the
copied lecture recording to the right place in Echo360 or
use the arrows at the end to help you move ‘up’ or ‘down’
