Livestock Ambassadors Through an application process, 50 youth are chosen to participate in rigorous

college-level animal science curriculum. Held at both Texas Tech University in

conjunction with West Texas A&M, and Texas A&M University, short courses gener-

ate exceptional knowledge gained outcomes. Livestock Ambassadors are re-

quired to commit at least 40 hours of service annually. Ambassadors conduct edu-

cational livestock project clinics, speak to civic groups, assist with livestock

shows, and advocate for livestock and agriculture across Texas.

Equine Ambassadors The Texas 4-H Equine Ambassador Program is helping create a new generation of

equine industry professionals. Through a selection process, 25 youth are chosen

to attend a general health knowledge and horsemanship short course. Equine

Ambassadors are prepared to teach other youth and adults the skills of being

good stewards, producers, and exhibitors of horses.

Water Ambassadors

The Leadership Academy is a 10-day tour of Texas exposing youth to a wide di-

versity of water resources, water uses, sensitive ecosystems, water quality con-

cerns, as well as the applied research and technologies employed to conserve

this valued resource. Ambassadors will gain insight into water law, policy, plan-

ning, and management as they interact with representatives from state water

agencies, educators, policy-makers, and water resource managers. Water Ambas-

sadors will also gain an appreciation for the complexity of managing Texas sur-

face and groundwater resources, its importance to local, regional, and state econ-

omies, and the responsibility we all have to protect this valuable resource for fu-

ture generations.
