INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTIONT-NET journey into discipleship talks about 3-
dimensional evangelism:
Prayer
An intercessor for the teller
Teller
An EE person does this on the OJT
Bringer
Responsible for introducing lost people to Jesus
Are you and I playing at least one role?
ANDREWANDREW
Andrew played the role of a bringer as we encounter him in the Gospels
At least on 3 occasions, Andrew introduced various people to Jesus
1) ANDREW BROUGHT HIS BROTHER SIMON PETER TO JESUS
2 issues to be discussed here:
a) Andrew made the salvation of his family members a top priority
•See John 1:41•The Greek word ‘protos’, same word as in Matthew 6:33•The inclusion of the word ‘protos’ demonstrates this priority•Do we make the salvation of our family members a top priority as well?
b) Andrew was instrumental in leading Peter to know Jesus
•Peter in turn became a great evangelist for Christ
•Andrew might not be famous as Peter, but he played his role faithfully
•See Luke 5:26-39, especially verse 39
Application : Are you and I a faithful witness for Jesus today?
2. ANDREW BROUGHT A TEENAGER TO JESUS
The next time we encounter Andrew is in the feeding of the 5000 incident in John 6.
a) Andrew’s friendship with a teenager resulted in Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes
•The importance of friendship evangelism
•Survey : 90% of the conversion began with personal friendship
• Most people are converted during their youths or during their twilight years
• A crying need for more adult role models in youth ministry
• Do you and I see the tremendous importance of youth ministry?
b) Andrew was not just interested to reach out to adults, but also to youths
Application : Would you involve yourself in discipling the youths in FBC?
• Now both Philip and Andrew were homebred Jews, yet open-minded enough to reach out to people of other races and cultures
• Even the apostle Peter himself had great difficulty in this area. See Acts 10:28
a) Andrew involved himself in cross-cultural outreach
Globalization : a more interdependent Globalization : a more interdependent world, and a world without bordersworld, and a world without borders
Missions on the doorstepMissions on the doorstep
b) FBC has cross-cultural outreach ministries to international students and to Nepalis
Application : Would you and I become missionaries to people of other races and cultures?
