They took me to Waldo pizza and I told them that one day I would live in Kansas City and live in Waldo. Three years ago I accepted an Interim position at a Church in Oklahoma City. I was raised in Oklahoma and the Church was sixty two miles from my elderly mother’s house. Yes, she made me check it on the odometer. Well six weeks into my move to the City, my blessed dog Boo Radley died. That almost shattered me. Six months after that my mom died and I presided at her funeral. That was the hardest thing that I have ever done. My last year in Oklahoma I worked two full time jobs which allowed me to set some money aside for the future. After the interim positions ended I realized that I had not taken a break in twenty five years, so I gave myself permission to take some time off. One night my land lady phoned and told me that she was going to sell the house that I was renting. The next day a friend of a friend (whom I still haven’t met) put a picture on Facebook telling about a great house for rent in Waldo. I phoned the landlord and told him that I needed two things in a house: a place that allowed animals, (I still had one dog and a cat), and a fenced backyard. Not only did I get those things but the house is two and half bocks from one of my best friend’s home, it has a fire place and all hardwood floors. Also my landlord is a landscaper, so the yard has gardens, magnolia trees, lilac bushes and the list goes on. A couple of weeks before World Communion Sunday I prayed about applying for your Interim position. The next day Diana Justus phoned and asked me to fill the pulpit. We talked about the service and the position. Later that week Steven Guthrie phoned and asked me send the Session my Personal Information Form by the next Monday. I did and then I was invited to participate in a thirty minute phone interview with the Session the next Thursday. I preached on Sunday Oct 2 nd for World Communion Sunday and the Session invited me to have a two hour dinner conversation the following Thursday. The next day (Friday) I was offered the position and I quickly accepted. A friend asked me if I thought of this position as a job or a calling. Looking back on the journey it sure feels like a calling to me. I look forward to serving with you as your Interim Minster and walking with you on the journey for the next few months. Please hold me and the Church in your prayers and let’s have coffee or lunch and get to know each other. Bliss Always, Victor

Reflections from Pastor Victor

Looking for God

Five years ago I was visiting friends here in Kansas City. They took me to Waldo pizza and I told them that one day I would live in Kansas City and live in Waldo. Three years ago I accepted an Interim position at a Church in Oklahoma City. I was raised in Oklahoma and the Church was sixty two miles from my elderly mother’s house. The Cornerstone Bible Study Group is now studying the book of Romans written by Paul. This book is an exposition on GOD's grace and

righteousness that comes by grace through faith. This book is also the foundation of the Christian faith. It has changed the hearts of many as they

read and understand its wonderful truths. Join us at 9:25am on Sunday mornings in the Holy

Grounds. This is a twelve week study DVD and group discussion. Questions? Contact Mike Montgomery or

Karen Wiederaenders.

This Advent season, we reflect upon God’s promise of salvation. Made to each of us, and kept with the birth of Jesus, this promise has changed countless

lives. Through Christmas Joy Offering we make and keep two promises of our own: to church

workers through the assistance in their time of need and to racial ethnic education and leadership

development. Each of these promises has the power to change lives. Please give generously on

December 18.

October 2016 Session Notes Preschool News

We are loving this warm Fall weather! The children are enjoying the time outside on the playground. The firetrucks provided lots of entertainment for our students and the Halloween Parades were a

huge success. Thanksgiving is around the corner, so our classrooms will be holding “Thanksgiving Feasts” for the children. This is an exciting time. We will hold our annual Christmas programs on

Thursday, December 15th. Our younger Preschool 1 & 2 classes will have their program at 9:15 and

our Pre-K classes will have their program at 10:15. Christmas break will begin at the conclusion of the

Christmas program on the 15th and we will resume Preschool on Wednesday, January 4th.

We are looking forward to this holiday season and viewing it through the eyes of 100+ Preschoolers.

Kim and Leslie.

The youth@wppc will meet November 20, December 11&18 in The Fellowship Hall from 6-7:30pm. Children of all ages join us in The

Fellowship Hall, for dinner, prayer, a Bible lesson, games and fellowship. Bring your friends! Ques-tions? Call Candis Lochmann @816-213-6750.

Steve Guthrie has finished with the repairs on the flood damage and is now moving onto security, landscaping, plumbing and electric. Our custodian, Scott Curry, has asked for increased time off so we are looking for someone to fill in for him. Steve has contacted C & R Enterprises, the company that cleans Academy Lafayette and they have given him a bid of $400 to clean the inside of the church. That bid was accepted and they will clean in Scott’s absence. We will soon need to form a pastor nominating committee so Reverend Carle will talk to the Presbytery about how this should go. Tippi Toes has requested the use of the fellowship hall on December 3 so they can take care of children while preschool parents do their Christmas shopping. The request was granted. The meeting was closed with prayer at 8:20 pm.
